Jackie Lui (I'll use the actor name when I know) is an orphan who was raised by his master and his master's wife. In all these years, he grows up with his master's daugther, Cherie Chan. After all these years, he falls in love with Cherie and Cherie really care for him. Jackie like to fight and to drink, he is really intelligent and mischievous, and he like to gag about everything. One day, his master ask him, with an another disciple, to bring gifts to the ceremony of retirement of Lai Hon-Cheung. On his way, he met a nun who was kidnapped by an attacker(?), Diem ba hoang. Jackie tries to safe her but has been injured.  After some try, he finally saved the nun, but has been really injured and he almost die. But Lau Chiu Ying and his grand-daughter safe him and bring them to a "ky vien".

 Long time ago, Lau Chiu Ying was a helper of the chief of evil side, Lo Lok Lam. In a battle against good and evil side, Lai Hon-Cheung and Lau Chiu Ying met. The two of them like music and become best friend. A little time after the battle, Lau Chiu Ying ask to his chief for retire. Lau Chiu Ying and Lai Hon-Cheung compose a song with piano and flute.

 During that time, Jackie has been accuse for kidnapping the nun and to killing a person. But the sister went to Lai Hon-Cheung house and tell to everybody that Jackie die and explain what happen. Now everybody is searching him to save him. The grand-daughter of Lau Chiu Ying find the sister and bring her to Jackie. The sister and Jackie run into the forest to escape to bad person who want to kill Jackie.

 At Lai Hon-Cheung ceremony, the chief of the good side have send his disciple to stop Lai hon-Cheung ceremony. Finally, all the family of Lai Hon-Cheung has been killed. Lai-Hon Cheung and Lau Chiu Ying were injured and escape. In the forest, they play their song a last time, met Jackie and the sister, and give to Jackie the song partition, telling him to give the partition to a talented musicien.

 During the way to his home, Jackie met a couple who was diying. They tell him they last wish and ask him to tell to their son, Timmy. The sister bring Jackie to his house and left. At home, Jackie met Timmy. Timmy became the new disciple of their master. Timmy was part of a rich family. this rich family hadd a really powerful martial arts book and some bad guy killed all members of his family for that book. Timmy has escape and has been accepted by Jackie's master.
Jackie has been punished for a year to think to what he has done during this trip on the top of a mountain. But he meet an old guy who is the master of the master of Jackie's master (something like that)
. During this year, Diem Bao hoang search him and want to bring him to the nun, because the nun has fall in love with him. But then an old man appear and that old man teach a powerful martial arts to Jackie, like that Jackie could win against Diem Bao Hoang. After that, Jackie has to left his mountain because his teacher is in danger. Jackie has been injured and have to die soon...
 

 Jackie and everybody left his house and begin a long trip. Timmy propose to visit his grand-father. His grand-father and his uncle think that Jackie has stealed the martial book of Timmy's family. Finally they find the partition that Lau Chiu Ying and Lai Hon-Cheung have give to Jackie and think that is the martial book. Because Jackie's innocence they have to ask to a strange man of the town if that book is a partition. The old man try to play it but is a duo, then he ask to his aunt to play with him. After everyone know that is not a martial art book but a partition, everyone left, except Jackie who ask to the old woman to teach him how to play music. Soon after, they have to left. During the trip, Jackie have receive a lot of gifts from strange person. All these persons try to cure Jackie injury. But they fail. All these person have give Jackie gifts only for a boss and this boss is the old woman who teach music to Jackie. 

 Jackie have accept to  accompany the old woman in her trip. Jackie discovered that this old woman is a young and pretty girl... Fiona Leung.

 So like I said, Jackie discovered that Fiona is not an ugly and old woman, but a young and pretty girl. How ever, Jackie is seriously injuried and after his master have chase him, he faints (?). His master chases him like he said it because Jackie knew strange people of the evil side, but the true is that he's jealous of Jackie, because he feel like Jackie is more powerful then him. So he chase Jackie and Jackie faint for a few days. Fiona know that only the monk of Shaolin can save him, so she take him on her back and bring him to Shaolin. But Fiona is part of the evil side too, she's the old chief' s daughter and previously, she have kill some monk, so they make a deal, the monk  will safe Jackie, but Fiona will have to stay at Shaolin the rest of her life. When Jackie woke up, the monk of Shaolin propose him to become a disciple of Shaolin, because it's the only way for them to safe him. Jackie refuses, telling that he already have a master and is at that moment that he discovered that his master have send a letter telling that he's not anymore his disciple. Jackie left Shaoling, still refusing to become a Shaolin's disciple even if it's the only way to keep his life.

 Near Shaolin, Jackie meets Lau Kong, the other right-hand man of Lo Lok Lam. And they become best friends. After  Lau Kong listened to Jackie story, Lau Kong brought Jackie to an house and tell that in that house, somebody can safe Jackie.This house have 4 owners and Jackie and Lau Kong challenge them. If anybody can win against Jackie they will give some gifts and if no, they will leave. Finally, the 4 owners loose, but they is still somebody who can win. They bring Jackie to that person, a strange old man in a jail. So they begin to fight and suddenly, Jackie faints and when he woke up, he's in the jail. He will stay there for few days , will get out and will discover that the old man is Lo Lok Lam.

 Lo Lok Lam was the chief of the evil side. 12 years ago, he have to right-hand men, Lau Chiu Ying and Lau Kong and a guy who is sorte of vice-chief(?), Dong Phuong Bat Bai. Lo Lok Lam has learn a kung fu who suck up the energy of the ennemis, but he is sick...

Jackie will learn how to suck up the others energy too. So Lo Lok Lam is sick and Dong Phuong Bat Bai knew about it.He attacked Lo Lok Lam and have lock him for 12 years in that jail and the four owners of the house were suppose to keep an eye on him. But before, Lo Lok Lam has prepared and he has gave to Dong Phuong Bat Bai a martial art book.It's the same one of Timmy's family. But to practice the kung fu in it, he has to cut a part of himself.Now that Lo Lok Lam is free,he want his place back and plan to attack Dong Phuong Bat Bai. He ask to Jackie if he want to become his new right-hand man. But Jackie refuses, telling that he's still the disciple of his master and he will not do anything wrong, Lo Lok Lam tell to him that he will kill all his master and all his disciples, but Jackie still refuses and leaves. 
 

 On his way, Jackie disguises himself, because before Fiona has brought Jackie at Shaolin, she gave the order to the evil side to kill Jackie. So he disguise and begins his trip. On his way, he met the religious sisters and help them a lot. He safe them and lead the way home.After, he met his master, and he want to excuse himself about he behaviour. During the night, he saw Cherie leaving the house and he followed her and discovered that Timmy and she were searching for the martial art. They finally find out, but some bad guys attacked them and stole the martial book what's not really a book, only a piece a clothe of a monk. Timmy and Cherie are injuried and they faint, so Jackie stole back he book but he's seriously injuried again. His master and his master's wife had came and they save Jackie, Timmy and Cherie, but when the master saw the book, he steal it, but no one knew it. So when Jackie woke up, he excuse himself, but his master don't accept it and tell him to go. Timmy and his master accuse Jackie to have steal the book and they begin to fight, but hopely, the religious sisters came and save Jackie because they need his help. One day after, Timmy is seriously injuried, his master have try to kill him, but fail, and Cherie run after Jackie and accuses him. Jackie lead the religious sisters and came on time to safe the two important religious sisters. Jackie still lead them in their trip, but he heard that Fiona is lock in Shaolin and plan to safe her with the help of the stranges people. On his way, he met an old man, the leader of Vo Duong, they fight together and the old man advice him to not suck up the energy and if he go down the mountain, if he change his mind about saving Fiona, he will ask to Jackie's master to take him back. But Jackie refuse and continue his way. In Shaolin, all the person of the good side have a meeting. The Shaolin monks plan to leave Shaolin. However they have release Fiona because she have change in the good way. So they left, but the other person of the good side didn't want to and they plan to trick Jackie and kill him. So they left Shaolin to but they have made traps and they bring all the food and water. Jackie arrive to Shaolin and give the orders to the others that they can broke anything of Shaolin. In Shaolin, Jackie find out the two important religious sisters who came to Shaolin to ask to the monks to release Fiona. They almost die and they ask to Jackie to lead the religious sisters, and he accept because he know that if he refuses, the sisters will not die in peace.But they discovered the plan of the good side and plan to escape,but they fail.Back to Shaolin they discovered an underground passage and they escape by that way. But Jackie go back to Shaolin because he didn't find Fiona and he's worried. The good side are talking, because the monks are not happy about all the trap and the others are wondering how Jackie escape. Suddenly, Lo Lok Lam, Lau Kong and Fiona appear.
 

 The monks have release Fiona. On her way, she met a father and Lau Kong. Her first thought was to find Jackie and tell him to return, but her father didn't want, telling her to wait. And now they appear in Shaolin.

 They make a deal. The evil side: Fiona, Lo Lok Lam and Lau Kong will fight against the good side: Jackie's master, the monks, the leader of Vo Duong and an another important guy and etc... They will be 3 battles, if the good side win 2, the evil side will rest at Shaolin the rest of their lives, if evil side win, they will leave Shaolin. Lo Lok Lam have win the first but lost the second and has been injuried so he call Jackie to fight the third one. Everybody was surprised, because Jackie was hid in the roof. Finally they win and left. Jackie annunce that he's know the leader of the religious sisters and he has to left. The day who became officially the leader, there is a ceremony and the good side stop the ceremony, but after the argument they have, they left. After, the evil side come, and they try to kill Jackie, but Fiona appear and stop them. After that, Jackie and Fiona left the church and they defied Dong Phuong Bat Bai with  Lau Kong and Lo Lok Lam. When Lo Lok Lam get his place back, he changes in the bad way. He lock up Jackie, but Fiona save him. 

 Later after, there is a reunion  of the good side. They want to vote  for a chief. Jackie find out that Fiona is there too, dress up like a religious sister. They decided to fight and the one who win will be the chief.After his battle against Cherie, Jackie is injuried and he assist to the battle of his master and discovered that his master has learn the kung fu of Timmy's family book, because it's the same kung fu then Dong Phuong Bat Bai. His master is now the chief. Everyone left and during his way back, Jackie assist to Timmy vengence. He kill all the person who had kill his parents, he is now the third person who know the kung fu like Dong Phuong Bat Bai. Now he's married to Cherie, but he injuried her and left because he' s blind and because he don' t trust anyone.He think that Cherie's father has use her to approach him and steal the kung fu book. But Cherie doesn't die, Jackie and Fiona save her, but after a misunderstand, Fiona left, because she thinks  that Jackie still love Cherie, but discovered that she was wrong when Cherie die in the arms of Jackie, killed by Timmy, her true love.

 Now, Jackie's master decide to kill Jackie, because Jackie has become a big problem to him. He kidnap all the religious sisters and hide them. Jackie is catch by his master, but lucky for him, the sister who love him save him and kill his master. After, the evil side want to apologize with the good side, but there's nobody left. Lo Lok Lam is so mad that  Jackie has refused again to become his right-hand man that he said in a month he will kill all the religious sisters. But he didn't, because he die from a illness. He left his place to Fiona, but Fiona is seriously poison. Every 12 years, Dong Phuong Bat Bai have gave her poison and now he's death, no one have the antidote. Jackie is sick too, he has the same illness of  Lo Lok Lam, because he has suck up the energy of the others. But the two are save and they get married. They live in a house, where nobody can find them, playing  the song that Lau Chiu Ying and Lai Hon-Cheung have compose.
 

Opinion: It was very good. They have choose good actors and Jackie was really good for his first time. Actually, after I watched a serie, I never know if they have choose the good actor for the roles, because I can't see who will be better. I think they have made a good work. The story and the serie is really similar, is not like the old serie. I have watch the old serie, and I really prefer the new one.

I think State of Divinity is one of the best TVB series ever made! It is one of my favorites with The Return of the Condor Heroes. First, this movie had the best story plot by making everything flow so smoothly. Also, the martial art and the special effects weren't too cheesy but actually pretty good and entertaining. This series also displayed some of China's greatest cultures like paintings, poetry and music. However, the best part about this movie was the convincing acting by two actors, Jackie and the man who acted as Jackie's master. Jackie really stands out from everyone else because he is funny as well as kind hearted and intelligent. He certainly convinced me that he was the only true hero in this movie. Also, Jackie's master ( forgot his name ) was an awesome actor as well. He played the perfect hippocrite and at first even I was uncertain if he was a good or bad guy in the beginning.    

 Well, the only criticism I have in this movie is maybe the girl leads. To me, Fiona is definitely not pretty enough to take the role as Yam Yam and get the main guy. I actually liked Cherie better and I hoped throughout the movie that Jackie and Cherie would end up together. It kind of bothers me that Gum Yung always makes the main guy end up with the perfect and most beautiful woman like characters like Yam Yam. For example, in Semidevils and DemiGods, only the most beautiful woman got the main guy...other girls were totally ignored. I think girls like Cherie should see the light and learn to love the main guy. Also, I think heroes in dramas should always stick up for their first love. Well, that's just my opinion.
