The loft was quite as one would have expected at 2am. The light fall of snow outside reminded the sleeping people of Cascade why they were in bed. There was a feeling of anticipation in the air as would be expected in the dark hours between Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. The deep steady breathing of the two sleeping men was broken when one started to awake. Leaving his warm cacoon of blankets on tippy toes, he quietly made his way to the lounge room where the large green, present laden tree was standing. Even the chill in the air was not able to persuade the eager man from his goal. The goal was a small parcel near the back of the tree. The shinny paper covering the small Christmas Gift had caught the man's attention when it had been placed there two days ago. Since then, it had been all he could see when he looked at the brightly coloured tree, and heavily decorated loft.
Being as quite as he could, he reached under the tree and lifted the present off the pile. The silent loft was filled briefly with the sound of wrapping paper brushing up against each other. The other man stirred at the noise and the one near the tree stopped dead in fear of being caught, his breath trapped within his burning lungs. After a few moments, he let out a sigh of relief, and went back to his parcel.
It was small and rectangular in size. There was very little to give it away, and although it was solid it did not weight much. The urge to rip it open, was so intense, that he put it back on the ground and bit his fist to stop him self from completely loosing it and opening the mysterious box.
The cold floor was slowly seeping into his bones, and he knew he would have to do something soon. What he had failed to see was that when he took out the parcel, he had taken away support for some nearby presents. Just as he was going to undo a small corner of the paper, two presents under the tree fell and started a chain reaction. An avalanche which sent presents left and right, until there were non left undisturbed. The noise was so loud in the dark quite loft, that he knew he had been sprung. There was no way his friend could have slept through that.
Looking like a naughty child caught doing something wrong, he watched as his roommate came out of his room and glared at him.
"What are you doing!"
Caught red-handed, he could only reply. "Umm."
Shaking his head the other man crossed his arms and shook his head.
"It's 2.20am, You only had to wait another 6 hours. Wait till I tell all the guys at the station about how you were so impatient that you were found under the Christmas tree in your pyjamas, raiding the presents." Seeing the other one about to comment, he held up his hand for silence.
"FOR…GET…..IT, don't bother to explain. Soon the world will know how big strong James Ellison, was caught in the act of peeking at the presents under the Christmas tree. Who would have thought."
Giving another chuckle, Blair sat down next to his now subdued Sentinel and picked the parcel back up. Giving a smile he watched as Jim gave him a bright smile, which warmed the loft more then summer could and ripped into his present.

Well I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas, and I won't ask how many of you have peeked under your Christmas tree. If you are wondering what the present was, then I guess I won't keep you in suspense. It was a cassette tape of Blair's heartbeat. Please e-mail, and tell me, if you had figured out the snooper before I said their names. I really want to know.
Merry Christmas, Keep Safe
