(Down at the docks: Luke is staring off into space when Lucky comes up behind him.)
Luke: Thanks for meeting me here.
Lucky: Yeah, well, don't think that my being here means that everything is alright between us.
Luke: I won't. (pause) But I have to believe that it can be a start.
Lucky:(Rolls his eyes in disgust) You know things will never be the same. They can't be.
Luke: You're right. They never are. As you get older - and wiser - you'll realize that what's done is done and you either bring good out of mistakes or bad.
Lucky: (Nodding his head with a disgusted look still on his face)
mistakes!? That's what it was? You keep telling yourself that, Dad. I'm sure it makes you feel a whole lot better about yourself.
Luke: (Getting right in Lucky's face) You Don't Know How I Feel! You don't know nothing! I love your mother. I have since the moment I mether.
Lucky: And to show your love, what - you raped her?
Luke: NO! No. There is so much that you don't understand about that night.
Lucky: Well, enlighten me, Dad. Tell me what those good reasons were - why you felt justified in raping my mother. (Luke turns away - an undescribable look on his face.) Turning away? What - Are you ashamed?
Luke: (Turns and faces Lucky again) Ashamed? Yes! YES! GOD, YES! Ashamed, mortified, Angry - with myself. I gave into the fear and I lost control. I Lost Control! And your mother - my sweet Laura ... (He lowers his head with a sob) I didn't want it that way. I didn't want to die, to lose my love before I had a chance to hold her. (Luke looks up at a visibly shaken Lucky) But once she was in my arms - I couldn't stop. I couldn't ...
Lucky: (Very quietly) Why?
Luke: I don't know.
(Jason's Penthouse: Carly is sitting on the couch reading a magazine while Jason is covering up Michael, who is in his stroller.)
Jason: You sure you don't want to come?
Carly: Yeah, that's okay. I'd rather just stay here and relax. Besides,it will give you two some time for male bonding.
(Knock on the door and Renaldo peeks his head in.)
Renaldo: Ms. Emily Quartermaine to see you.
Jason: Let her in.
(Emily comes in smiling, but frowns slightly when she sees Michael in his stroller.)
Emily: Hi! I came at a bad time - you're getting ready to leave. I'll just ... (She turns to go, but Jason stops her.)
Jason: Wait. We were just going for a walk. You want to come along?
Emily: (looking at Carly) I don't want to interfer.
Carly: Oh, don't worry. I'm not going. I'm just going to stay here and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Emily: Well, in that case, I'd love to go with you.
Jason: Good. (To Carly) Jonny's coming with us, but Renaldo will still be here. Will you be alright?
Carly: Yes. I'll be fine. (Jason still doesn't move) Go! Have a nice walk.
(Jason, Emily, and Michael leave.)
(At Windimere, down at the dock: Robin and Nik are waiting for the boat.)
Robin: Look, Nikolas; you are doing fine on your own now. I don't think you need me to help you anymore.
Nik: Maybe, but I do need you. (He looks embarrassed.) I mean, I still would like to be friends with you.
Robin: I'd like that, too. Um, I was going to go to Kelly's for dinner. Would you like to join me?
Nik: (Bowing slightly) I would be honored. (They both smile, then stand there ackwardly. Nik looks toward the water.) Ah, thy vessel to hunger's fulfilment doth approach.
Robin: (Looking amused) Okay. This should be good for you - you definitely need to get out more.
(Docks: Luke and Lucky are facing each other, although Luke is unable to look at his son.)
Luke: A price was put on my head. I had to do a job - a job that I knew I wouldn't finish alive. A couple of years before, I wouldn't have cared. But I did. Cuz, I was in love. I was in love with someone I couldn't have. That was the story on my life: I couldn't have my parents, a home, a childhood - and then no love, no future, no life! I was losing everything, and yet, I really didn't have much to lose.
Lucky: I know you had it rough, Dad. That still doesn't make what you did right.
Luke: No, no it doesn't. That’s because it was wrong. It was the biggest - the most horrible mistake I have ever made. And I will live with the guilt forever. But, it showed me the most amazing thing -- a, an incredible love that I never knew before. Despite all the horror, your mother forgave me. She went even further - she loved me. And because of that, I will never lose control like that again. (Luke puts one hand
gingerly on Lucky's shoulder.) Your mother forgave me, the question now is -- will you?
(Docks: Luke and Lucky are facing each other with very intense looks on their faces. Luke's hand is still on Lucky's shoulder. They both hear a sound and turn around to see Jason, Jonny, Emily and Michael coming towards them. Lucky, somewhat coldly, moves away from Luke and walks towards Emily.)
Jason: Hey.
Luke: Hello, Jason. What brings you down to the docks.
Jason: We're out for a walk.
Emily: (To Lucky) Hi! You okay?
Lucky: Yeah. (He bends down to look at Michael) How are you little guy?
(Jonny's cell phone rings and he steps away slightly to answer it.)
Luke: How's the kid doing since his little adventure?
Jason: He's fine.
Luke: And you?
Jason: (Looks over at Michael and sighs heavily) When I told Sonny that I would take over for him, I never thought that there would be so many people that I would care about. Especially, Michael. But others do it -- have families. I just don't know how.
Luke: Well, they do whatever it takes to keep their families safe. Of course, they have most of their kids illegitimately and don't find out about them till they're adults -- that makes it a bit easier. (Jason just looks at Luke with a straight face. Luke shifts slightly.) You know you could just tell everyone that he isn't yours. You could say that -- oh, I don't know -- maybe, AJ is his real father.
Jason: (Gives Luke a questioning look) Michael won't be raised by the Quartermaines.
Luke: Alright. It wouldn't have to be AJ. Considering who Michael's mother is, just about anyone would be believable.
Jonny: (To Jason) Excuse me, Boss. That was Benny. He's on his way down here and wants to talk to you. He said it was important.
Emily: Do you want me to take Michael back home?
Jason: Not by yourself. (To Jonny) Call Benny back and tell him that we can meet him back here in one hour.
Lucky: If you just don't want Emily and the baby to go back alone, I could go with them.
(Jason looks intently at Lucky.)
Luke: It's okay, Jason. Lucky wouldn't let anything happen to them.
Jason: Alright -- But go straight to the penthouse.
Lucky: Don't worry, we will.
(Kelly's: Sarah is sitting at a table watching Liz give a customer his coffee. Liz comes over and sits down across from her.)
Sarah: Okay, I'm here. What did you want to talk to me about.
Liz: Grams. Have you noticed the way she's changed. (Sarah looks at her blankly.) I mean, everytime I try to talk to her about what happened to me,she gets angry. I know that I should be over it more by now, but...
Sarah: Wait a minute. What happened to you was very traumatic. It's going to take more than a couple of months to get over it -- if you can get over it at all. I think that you have been very brave and, well, I'm proud of you.
Liz: I don't think Grams is.
Sarah: She has been acting different lately. Almost like she is forcing herself to be happy. Maybe she just doesn't know how to handle this.
Liz: Yeah, I guess.
Sarah: I'll tell you what, when you get off work tonight, we'll both sit down and talk with her. Okay?
Liz: (Nods her head) I get off in less than a hour.
Sarah: Great. I'll just wait for you then.
Liz: Thanks. (Sarah smiles at her.)
(Another part of the docks: Nik and Robin have just gotten off the boat from Spoon Island.)
Robin: I'm glad that's not part of the route to where I live.
Nik: (Smiling at her) It's not so bad. Robin, before we go to Kelly's, I have to ask you something. (Robiin turns and faces him.) Are you choosing to not help me any more because of my uncle? I mean, did he say something to you?
Robin: (Laughs softly) He has said a few things to me, but no -- it's not because of your uncle.
Nik: Is it Jason then?
Robin: (Hesitantly) What does Jason have to do with my helping you?
Nik: Well, I know that you have feelings for each other. I thought, maybe, he didn't like how much time we spend together.
Robin: Nikolas, Jason and I may care for each other, but we have no say in each other's lives. Believe me, I have learned that the hard way. I don't tell him who to be friends with and he doesn't tell me. Even if we did try, neither of us would listen. If Jason doesn't like our friendship, then that is his problem.
(Nik nods and smiles shyly at her.)
(The other part of the docks: Emily, Lucky, and Michael are walking together.)
Emily: We interrupted something important, didn't we?
Lucky: (Shrugging) No, not really.
Emily: (Stopping) I won't pry you for details or even try to tell you what to do -- but I do want you to know that I'm here for you if you need a friend. (Lucky stops with his head down.) What happened to Liz was awful. But she's not the only one hurting - she's not the only one who needs support. (Emily places her hand on Lucky's shoulder in the same spot his father's hand was earlier.) Don't feel you have to go this alone. I've done
that; no one should have to face hard times alone.
Lucky: (Gently takes her hand off his shoulder and holds it lightly in his hands.) I know ... and I'm sorry.
Emily: That's alright. It's Liz that needs you now, not me.
Lucky: Yeah. I just don't know what to do for her anymore.
Emily: Be there for her - let her know that she is not alone. She has to find some kind of closure to this on her own.
Lucky: (Pausing - then looking directly into Emily's eyes) If it happened to you, could you forgive the guy? I mean do you think that you could face him again and not feel hatred or anger?
Emily: (Looking confused) Does Liz know who attacked her?
Lucky: No. I just ... I can't help wondering about things.
(Michael starts to fuss and Emily bends down ot comfort him.)
Emily: What's the matter, sweety? Do you miss your Daddy already? (She picks him up) He's right over there ...
(Emily points in the direction of where Jason, Luke, and Jonny are standing. Her eyes open wide in terror. Lucky, seeing her expression, looks over too. Suddenly gunfire explodes into the evening air. Emily starts tomove towards Jason, but Lucky stops her.)
Lucky: We've got to get out of here now, Emily.
Emily: But -- Jason...?
Lucky: He'll be okay. We've got to get Michael to safety.
(Emily nods her head, then starts to move towards the stroller.) No, leave it. They've seen us. (Grabbing her hand) Come on, follow me.
(Docks: Jason, Luke, and Jonny are crouching behind crates exchanging gunfire with those shooting at them.)
Jason: Cover me, I'm going after the kids.
Luke: What!? Are you crazy?
Jason: They sent someone that way. He may be after Michael.
Luke: Lucky will protect them.
Jason: I know he will try, but I can't take the chance that he will fail.
(Jason jumps up and starts to run as shots fire rapidly around him. Luke appears at his side. Suddenly Luke pushes Jason aside as blood covers the ground.)
(Docks by the boat launch: Nik and Robin are both startled by the distant sounds of gunfire.)
Robin: Not again.
Nik: I think it's further down the docks. We should be safe here.
Robin: I don't know about that.
Nik: You're right, maybe we should get to Kelly's fast. (Robin hesitates looking anxiously towards the sounds of gunfire.) Robin? (He touches her arm lightly.)
Robin: (Turning to Nik) What? Oh - Yeah, we should go to Kelly's. (Nik slowly starts to move away looking worriedly at Robin. Robin turns back to the direction of the gunfire and sadly whispers) Jason, be careful.
(They leave.)
(Kelly's: Liz is wiping the counter while Sarah is sipping a soda at the counter. Bobbie walks in.)
Bobbie: (Walking up to the counter) Hello girls! How are you both doing?
Sarah: Good.
Liz: (Shrugging) Yeah, the same.
Bobbie: Is Ruby around? I need to talk ... (The doors fly open and Nik and Robin rush in.) Hey, you two, where's the fire?
Nik: Down at the docks.
Bobbie, Liz, and Sarah: What!?
Nik: Gun-fire. Down past the boat launch.
Bobbie: Oh my gosh. Are you alright? You both look shaken up.
Robin: We're fine. We just ran part of the way here.
Sarah: (Eyes Nik and Robin jealouly, then she notices that Liz is just standing at the counter with a horrid look on her face.) Liz, what's wrong? You look as pale as a ghost.
Liz: Lucky went down to the docks to meet his dad. (She throws her rag down and starts to head for the door. Bobbie stops her.)
Bobbie: You can't go down there, Honey. It's too dangerous.
Liz: But Lucky ...
Bobbie: No. Besides, my brother and nephew know how to take care of themselves. (She makes Liz sit down at a table.) When it sounds like the gunfire has stopped, I'll go down and take a look. Okay?
(Liz nods her head as Sarah puts her arm around her sisters shoulders. Nik and Robin stand there silently.)
Sarah: It will be alright. I'm sure Lucky's fine.
(Back in a dark alley: Lucky, Emily, and the baby are hiding behind some crates. A large figure walks by them and looks around. After a few seconds, the figure leaves. Lucky and Emily look at each other with relief. Suddenly, the baby starts to cry.)
(Kelly's: Sarah and Liz are at one table, while Nik and Robin are at another.)
Sarah: Don't worry, Liz; Bobbie will probably be back soon to tell us that everything is fine.
Liz: Yeah, I hope so. Actually, I'd feel better if Lucky would just walk through the door.
Sarah: I know. I'm sure he's just fine. He probably wasn't even near the shooting. (She glances over at Nik)
Liz: (Noticing Sarah's glance) Hey, maybe Nik or Robin saw Lucky. Could you go ask? Please?
Sarah: Um...Sure (She gets up and walks over to Nik and Robin.) Um...excuse me...Hi! Um...we were just wondering if while you were down at the docks if you maybe saw Lucky...or Luke?
Robin: (Looks first at Nik who turns away, then looks back at Sarah.) No.vWe didn't see either of them. Sorry we can't be more help.
Sarah: Oh, that's alright. Thanks. (She walks back over to Liz.) They didn't see Lucky or Luke. (Liz sighs worriedly.) Hey, that might be good.If they didn't see them maybe it was because they weren't there.
Liz: Maybe.
Robin: Are you okay? (Nik nods.) Did something happen between you and Sarah?
Nik: Yeah. (Glances over at Sarah.) I found out that she's the reason the Quartermaines told Emily that she couldn't come to see me at Windimere anymore.
Robin: Really? How so?
Nik: She told the Quartermaines that Emily was spending alot of time at Spoon Island. She implied that my uncle might become angry with her and harm her in some way if my speech did not improve or got worse. They bought it and forbid Emily to come to the Island anymore.
Robin: Emily was pretty upset about that.
Nik: Well, I didn't work out the way Sarah thought it would. (Robin looks at him questionly.) I think she thought if Emily wasn't allowed to help me anymore, then I might turn to her for help.
Robin: Emily said that she suggested that to you, but you said no. (Nik laughs lightly, shaking his head.) What?
Nik: I don't think Sarah ever counted on you becoming part of the equation.
Robin: Yeah, well, I'm glad that I was able to help you. I know that Emily really appreciated it when I told her that you agreed to let me help you.
Nik: Is that the only reason that you helped me -- because of Emily? I mean, I assume that at first it was, but was there any other reasons -- later?
(Docks: Jason and Luke are behind some crates.)
Jason: (Wadding up the shirt he has taken off) Here. Press this hard against the wound.
Luke: How's Jonny? (He presses the shirt against his leg.)
Jason: (Looks in the direction of Jonny) He's alive -- it looks like he's been shot in the arm.
Luke: Do you think they are gone?
Jason: Yes.
Luke: Will they be back?
Jason: No. Cops are probably on their way.
Luke: Then you need to get out of here. (Jason shakes his head.) Listen man, if Garcia and Taggert catch you down here, they are are going to haul your butt down to the jail. Do yourself a favor, get Jonny and yourself out of here fast.
Jason: No. I can't. I need to go after the kids.
(They hear movement, Jason gets his gun out.)
Bobbie: Hello? Is anyone here?
Luke: Barbara? Get over here! (She comes around the crates.) What are you doing down here?
Bobbie: There were reports of gunfire and Liz said that Lucky was coming here to...Oh my God, ...Luke? You've been shot.
Luke: I'm alright. (Bobbie bends over to look at the wound.) Stop fussing over me, Barbara, I'll live.
Bobbie: We need to get you to the hospital. (To Jason) Are you hurt?
Jason: No, but Jonny's been shot, too. (To Luke) I'm gonna check on the kids.
Bobbie: The kids?
Jason: Lucky, Emily, and (He pauses to look at Luke.) Michael.
Bobbie: What!?
Luke: It's okay, Sis. Lucky, Emily, and the baby left before the shooting.(He looks at Jason.) They're probably already back at the penthouse.
(Dark Alley: Emily is trying to quiet the baby while Lucky kneels beside them. The two teens stiffen as they hear approaching footsteps.)
Male Voice: Come on out. I know you're here. I won't hurt you if you come out now.
(Lucky looks at Emily and mouths the words, ''Stay here.'' Emily shakes her head no, but Lucky gives her a very firm look. She hugs Michael closer to her. Lucky slowly stands up with his hands in the air.)
Lucky: Don't shoot. I'm just a kid. I didn't see anything, I swear.
Man: Where's the baby? I heard a baby cry.
Lucky: (Pausing for a moment.) Uhh...That was me. (He kneels down on the ground) Oh, please, I don't want to die. (He pretends to weep loudly.)Please, don't shoot me. (With his head down, he glances over to Emily and the baby. She just looks at him wide-eyed. Even Michael looks at him curiously.) I didn't see anything - not a thing. Please... (Lucky moves slightly towards the man, who stares at him blankly. When he tries to move
a little closer, the man points the gun at him. He stops.)
Man: Sorry Kid. Can't have any witnesses.
(Lucky looks past the man and sees a woman in a red coat coming around the corner of the alley. She stops and looks questionly from the man to Lucky.)
Woman: (Smiling slightly.) Hello, Bubba!
(Docks: Jason, Luke, and Bobbie are still behind the crates)
Jason: (To Bobbie) I need to go make sure that Lucky got Emily and Michael safely to the penthouse. Will you be okay here?
Bobbie: Yeah, I'll make sure that both Luke and Jonny get to the hospital. You go; make sure my grandson is okay.
(Jason starts to leave.)
Male Voice: Going somewhere, Mr. Morgan?
(Jason turns to see Taggert, Garcia, and several other cops.)
Taggert: I'm afraid, Mr. Morgan, the only place you're going is to the slammer.
Garcia: That's enough, Detective.
Jason: Am I under arrest?
Garcia: Not at this time. (Jason starts to walk away - Garcia holds his hand up to stop him.) But we need to ask you a few questions.
Jason: I don't have time for this.
Bobbie: Excuse me, but my brother and this other man need medical attention immediately. Can't you question Jason later?
Garcia: I'm sorry, Ms. Spencer, but we need...
(Suddenly in the distance, gunshots are heard.)
(Dark Alley: Lucky watches in horror as the man shoots at the woman. However, she rolls out of the line of fire ending up laying right infront of the man. Quickly, she kicks the gun out of the man's hand. Grabbing his other hand, she flips the man over her. The woman stands up and looks down at Lucky.)
Woman: You okay Kid?
Lucky: Uh...yeah (Looks behind the woman) Watch out!
(The man lunges at the woman; but she side steps him, and trips him causing him to crash to the ground. Then she picks up a crate and smashes it on his head, knocking him out.)
(Docks: Jason starts to take off, but Taggert stops him. Jason punches Taggert in the jaw. Two of the other cops grab Jason. Bobbie jumps in between Jason and Taggert.)
Bobbie: Stop this! (To Jason) Was that the direction the kids went? (Jason stares defiantly at Taggert) Jason!? Answer me! (Jason nods his head.) Oh no.
Garcia: Kids? What kids?
Garcia: (To Taggert and other cops) Alright, you two -- go check out the gunfire.
Taggert: What about Mr. Morgan here?
Garcia: We'll take him down to the station for questioning.
Taggert: Gladly. (Starts to grab Jason.)
Garcia: (Steps infront of Taggert) Not you. You go check out the gunfire.(Taggert angrily glares at Garcia) NOW, Detective! (Taggert leave. The two cops start to take Jason away.) Call an ambulance -- tell them we have two people down ... (Looks at Bobbie who is kneeling by Luke.) and maybe more.
(Dark Alley: Lucky watches as the woman finishes tying up the wrists of the man behind his back.)
Woman: That should hold him. (Looks at Lucky) You sure you're alright?
Lucky: Yeah. Thanks.
(Behind the crates, Michael starts to fuss. The woman looks past Lucky curiously.)
Woman: Is everyone alright? (Lucky turns around to see Emily peeking out cautiously from behind the crates.) It's okay, Lamb. Bubba here can't hurt you. Come on out.
(Emily looks at Lucky who nods his head. Slowly she comes out from behind the crates with the baby in her arms.)
Woman: (Holds her hands up.) No problem. I won't even ask why he was after you. (She looks behind her.) The police should be here soon. (She turns back to the kids and smiles. The baby starts to fuss.)
Lucky: Where's his pacifier?
Emily: It was right here. I must have dropped it. (Lucky and Emily look around on the ground behind the crates.) Here it is.(She notices Lucky is looking up the alley with a puzzled look.) What's wrong?
Lucky: She's gone.
Emily: Who was she?
Lucky: I don't know...but...(He looks at Emily) Come on, we better go.
Emily: What about the police?
Lucky: (Shakes his head) Jason wouldn't want us here. I said I would get you two safely to the penthouse; that's what I'm gonna do. Let's go.
(They leave.)
(Kelly's: Liz, Sarah, Robin, and Nik are all standing by the counter watching Ruby talk on the phone.)
Ruby: (Into the phone) Okay...don't worry, I'll keep my eyes open. If he shows up here, I'll send him to the hospital...Please, keep me informed...alright, Honey...Bye. (She hangs up the phone.) Okay kids. That was Bobbie. She's on her way to the hospital with Luke and another man who got shot.
Liz: Was Lucky with them?
Ruby: No. Bobbie said that he wasn't at the docks when she got there.
Sarah: See, he's probably fine.
Liz: I need to go down to the docks to look for him. He'll want to know what happened to his father.
Ruby: Elizabeth, stop! (Liz looks at her.) Bobbie said she heard more shooting while she was down there. (Liz puts her hand over her mouth.) I don't think that it's safe for you to go down there.
Liz: I have to know if Lucky is safe.
Sarah: Maybe he already met his dad and left before the shooting.
Liz: But I don't know that.
Sarah: (Putting her arm around Liz's shoulders.) Let's go to the hospital and talk to Mr. Spencer. He can tell us whether Lucky had been there or not. Okay? (Liz nods her head. The two girls leave.)
Robin: Poor Liz. I know what it's like not knowing whether
someone you care about is hurt or not.
Nik: (Slightly distracted) Yeah.
Robin: I'm sorry. I'm sure that Lucky is fine.
Nik: What? Oh...Yeah, Lucky probably doesn't even know what happened.
Robin: Do you want to go to the hospital?
Nik: (Shakes his head) No...unless you do?
(Kelly’s: Nik and Robin are standing by the counter.)
Nik: If you want to go to the hospital, I’ll go with you. I know you’re worried about Jason.
Robin: Bobbie didn’t say anything about him being there, but...
Nik: We’ll go and just make sure everyone’s alright.
Robin: Thanks.
(They leave.)
(Hospital: Emergency Room: Luke is half laying/half sitting on a gurney. Bobbie is standing next to him.)
Bobbie: Will you lay down Luke!
Luke: I’m fine, woman! Just stitch me up and get me out of here.
Bobbie: You might as well lay back and get comfy; you’re not going anywhere. (Pauses.) You’ve lost a lot of blood.
Luke: I’ve been through worse, baby sister; or have you forgotten?
Bobbie: You’re impossible. (Luke smiles.)
(The curtain is yanked aside as Alan storms into the room.)
Alan: Where’s my daughter!? They said Jason was there -- did he have Michael with him? I know Emily was going to see them...
Luke: (Holding his hands up) Whoa there, Doc. You’re attacking and injured man here. I’ve lost a lot of blood, you know.
Bobbie: (Rolls her eyes) Oh, brother. (To Alan) Michael and Emily were down at the docks, but they had left before the shooting began.
Alan: Left? Alone?
Bobbie: No; Lucky was with them.
Alan: Oh, Great!
Luke: Hey! What is that suppose to mean?
Alan: Just what it sounded like.
Bobbie: Alan!?
Alan: What!?
Bobbie: (Looks shocked) Can I talk to you . . . please? (They walk off to the curtain) What’s wrong with you?
Alan: My son, daughter, and grandson were just in a drive-by shooting.
Bobbie: That’s not what I’m talking about.
(Alan looks at her blankly.)
(Police Station: Garcia and Taggert are sitting across the table from Jason in a private room.)
Garcia: Alright, Mr. Morgan, we’ve sent a cruiser over to the penthouse to make sure everything is okay. What we need now is a statement from you.
Jason: Justus should be here soon. I’ll give you my statement then.
Taggert: Why do you need to wait? You were just an innocent by-stander, right? That is your story? (Jason glares at him) What are you hiding, angerboy?
Garcia: That’s enough, Detective! (To Jason) If you want to wait until your attorney is present, we’ll wait. But all I need from you is a statement. You’re not under arrest.
Jason: We wait!
Garcia: (Pauses, looking at Jason, then gets up) We wait.
Taggert: (Quietly to Garcia) What are you doing? We need to press him. Once his attorney gets here...
Garcia: We wait! (Taggert shakes his head in disgust.) Why don’t you go check on the guy you found in the alley. See if he’s ready to talk yet.
Taggert: Sure -- why not? (He leaves.)
Jason: You found one of the guys in an alley?
Garcia: (Sits back down at the table) Yeah. Know anything about him?
Jason: (Pauses, then sighs. Garcia clicks on the tape recorder.) I saw a guy go past us during the shooting. I tried to go after him.
Garcia: Do you recall what he looked like?
Jason: No. But he had on a gray shirt.
Garcia: (Nods his head) Okay. Did you see anyone else?
Justus: I don’t believe my client has to answer that.
(Hospital: Emergency Room: Luke is on the gurney still. Bobbie and Alan are standing by the curtain.)
Bobbie: Alan, you have not been acting like yourself for some time now. I know that you have been under a lot of stress, but that gives you no right to speak to a patient the way you just did to Luke. And he is a patient.
Alan: (Looks at her for a moment, then turns to Luke.) Luke, I am so sorry. When I heard about the shooting and that Jason, Emily, and Michael were possibly there -- I just lost it. Bobbie’s right. I have no right to take my anxieties out on you. Please forgive me.
Luke: It’s no problem, Doc. It can happen to . . . almost anyone. (He gives Bobbie a “Please step in any time” look.)
Bobbie: Um, Alan? I’m sure the kids are over at Jason’s penthouse by now.
Alan: You’re probably right. I’ll just go over and check. (He leaves.)
Luke: That man has to be on something.
Bobbie: Alan!? No way, not after everything that happened with Emily.
(Hospital: By Nurse’s desk: Sarah and Liz approach Nurse’s desk.)
Sarah: (To Amy) Excuse me?
(continued in the next link)
