I do not own Buffy and co., and I am not making any money out of this, so don't sue. I am just borrowing the characters and promise to put them back as soon as I'm done.
''That is it!''- a figure in a wheelchair exclaimed. Spike had reached his limit just a few minutes ago. Dru, his princess. He could hear her, in the next room, with Angel. That bastard! The way they were carrying on, he probably thought that just because Spike was in a wheelchair, he was blind and deaf as well. He needed to get rid of Angel, and fast.
''But how?''- he wondered, out loud, very much aware that just now, he looked like a villain in a cheesy children's movie, but not caring at all. He was lost in thought for a minute, then he exclaimed
''That's it!''- And his eyes shone with a new light, one of hatred, and promise of revenge.
'' Here vampires, here, here vampires, come on!''-Buffy Summers, slayer, said in a sing song voice, nonchalantly waving a stake in her hand.
''Please! I've got tons of homework tonight!''
''I thought you weren't the begging type, slayer?''
''Spike! I thought you were dead! Well, I'll fix that!''-she threatened.
''There's no need to get all worked up, ducks!'' -he held up both his hands.-
'' We both want the same thing, and I'm here to insure we get it.''
''And what is that? Barney the purple dinosaur banned from the earth forever?''
''Yes, but there's also something else. Angel restored.''
''O.K., I think you just lost me there. Why the hell would you want that?''-she didn't believe him for a second, and kept on looking around for signs of an ambush.
''Let's just say he and Dru have gotten very cozy lately''-as he spoke, anger entered his voice, and Buffy knew that either he was serious or one hell of an actor.
''But there is no cure, moron! Why can't you just kill him, huh?''- she was sure she had him now. Trying to trick her! And that wheelchair act! Pathetic.
'' Because Dru will never get over it if he dies. If he's restored, it'll be like before.''-he smiled at her like she was a retard.-
''Jenny had the cure, remember?''-he watched as her facial expression changed to one of shock, and she tried to mutter something.-
''It's just one shock after another tonight, isn't it Buffy?''
'' How do I know you're not lying?''-Buffy still didn't trust him, no matter what.
'' You don't. Angel destroyed the computer and the printout, but he never mentioned anything about a disk. Check. Meet me here tomorrow if you want Angel in a cage. He has to be close to the orb, otherwise it doesn't work, you know''.
Buffy ran of, still not able to believe it.
'' So Angel is getting it on with Drushila? Tsk, Tsk. Bad dead boy.''-Xander tried his hand at making a funny comment but no one laughed. It was too serious a subject
'' Are you sure he's not lying?''- Willow asked.
''I'm not. Will, can you check ms. C's ex office and see if there's anything that might be left over, most likely a disk?'' Willow left, and Cordelia and Xander went to help her as well, leaving the Slayer alone with her Watcher.
''Um, Buffy, I don't uh, think, that it m-might be t-the best idea to, um, restore Angel. Things, uh, c- could never be the same. Especially after, um, J-Jenny.''- Giles spoke softly.
'' They never could be, I know that. It's just, if I don't try, I'll never be able to live with myself. I hope you understand, Giles.''
''Yes. Jenny would, uh, have wanted it that way.'' Then Buffy left to help search for any trace that might help her. As she entered the computer room, empty for lunch, she saw the ever loyal slayarettes searching every corner. She heard Cordelia's voice:
''Buffy, help me move this cabinet. I just got a manicure, and I don't wanna ruin it.''
''Here, I'll help you''- Xander, Cordy's boyfriend, jumped to help. They were the most unlikely couple when they'd gotten together. She, her popular bitchiness of Sunydale high, he, the least popular guy in Sunnydale High. But now that Cordelia was one of them, Buffy realized they were perfect for each other.
'' Crap, this cabinet is heavy. What do they keep in here, weights? Buffy, you're the one with the super powers, you do this, I'm self proclaimed snack boy from now on.''
She moved the cabinet with one hand, and saw a bright yellow disk.
''Well, what have we here?''-Buffy asked. Willow, the computer genius sat down and inserted the disk, then, a few seconds later, she gasped.
''Holy!'' The 2 slayarettes and the slayer came from the other side of the computer.
''It's the whole damn ritual!''
* * *
Buffy skipped home, and into the kitchen, while singing out loud at the top of her voice.
''It's a beautiful life, oh, oh, oh, it's a beautiful life!''-she tried to eat an apple while singing. Not a good idea.
''And what's got you so happy? Is it a boy?''- Buffy's mom teased.
''Technically. Today was the best day of my life, mom, and nothing can change that.''
The phone rang, and Joyce Summers went to answer it.
''Buffy it's for you. It's a guy.''- her mother held out the receiver, but the slayer replied
'' Tell Xander I'll call him back, I gotta go to the bathroom.''
''It's not Xander.'' Buffy was puzzled.-
''Then who is it?'' Her mom repeated the question into the receiver.
''Honey, it's someone named Spike.''. Buffy spat out the juice she was drinking in surprise.
''S-Spike?''
''Yes, is he your new boyfriend?''
''No.''- Buffy picked up the receiver.
'' Spike, what the hell are you doing calling here, and how did you get my number, I'd like to know?''
''I'll bring him tonight. Your house.'' It took Buffy a few minutes to realize she was talking to her mortal enemy on the phone like this.
''No, not my house! What are you talking about?''
''I told him to attack you tonight, that I got a counter- counter invitation spell, and it only works tonight. So set up an ambush, cuz Dru and me are coming too. But, we gotta make a deal, you can't attack me or Dru, and we won't hurt you or your little Slayer wannabes.''
''This, is twisted.''
''Hey, I don't like it any more then you, but what's gotta be done, has to be done.''
''All right, mom's working late at the gallery. Be here at 9.'' She hung up, shaking her head. Then she called all the Slayarettes. Never, in her wildest dreams had she thought something like this would happen. Her working alongside Spike? It made her wanna barf. But, to have Angel back. She would give anything. Since that night, the night he achieved true happiness, the night he lost his soul, this was all she'd prayed for, hoped for, lived for. She had fell in love with him the first moment she saw him. When she kicked the crap out of him. She remembered. ''Don't worry, I don't bite.''. And when she found out he was a vampire, but a good vampire. ''What, like a care bear with fangs?'', was her friends' reaction. And then that night. Her eyes moistened.
She was interrupted from her walk down memory lane by everyone arriving.
''Spike called you?''- were the first words out of their mouths after she told them why they were here.
''I know, this is weirder than that praying mantis lady. And that demon on the internet. Or the hellmouth in the library. Or the snake guy. Or…''
''We get the point Xander. So Spike wants a fake ambush?''- Willow asked.
''Sorta. We got to attack them, restrain Angel and pretend to try to kill Dru and Spike, but let them get away.''
''But are you sure Spike'll keep his word? I mean, the guy does have no conscience.''
''I don't know. I really don't know.''
8: 50, Sunnydale art gallery.
'' Hey Joyce, I really don't think we need you to work over time today. You go home and have yourself a good rest.''- her boss said good naturely.
''Oh good. Maybe I'll see what my daughter is going to be doing with Spiky or whatever his name is''-Joyce Summers replied as she put on her coat.
8:58, Summers residence.
''They should be here any minute now. Everyone, positions. Stick to the plan. The gun is just for show, do not use it under any circumstances (the gun was a five foot long automatic thing that could blow a small house down, stolen from the army).''- Buffy barked the order, and everyone got into their positions. Buffy invited Dru, Angel and Spike in even though they weren't there, so Dru and Angel would think Spike was telling the truth about that spell. Then they waited.
9:10, Summers residence.
The wooden door came crashing down, to reveal three vampires, game faces on. They attacked, but Buffy took Angel, Xander and Cordy took Drushilla, and Willow took Roller Boy( Spike). Everything was going according to plan. Buffy was beating Angel, and with a punch got him on the ground, then proceeded to kick him until he was unoncious. Xander and Cordelia, with the help of hidden weapons got Drushilla ready to run like hell, and Willow was pretending to beat Spike up.
''Buffy, what the hell is going on here?'' The slayer turned around to face her mother, who was steaming with fury. Drushilla took advantage of that , and jumped at Buffy, who landed on the automatic cannon thingy. In a split second, Buffy saw the on control go on, and quickly raised it to point up. Then it went on, leaving a big hole in the roof, and a lot of smoke. The second floor of the house was wobbling, and as soon as the slayer saw that, she screamed
''Mom, everyone, get out of here!''. Everyone looked up at the ceiling, and ran for their life. There was only Dru and Angel left when half of the roof collapsed. Wilow, clutching the spell and the orb, began to recite the ritual, figuring there was no time like the present. All the rest of them were still in shock. They looked at the pile of rubble that had once been half the Summers residence, and stood speechless. Willow finished the chanting, and Buffy ran toward the pile of brick and mortar.
''Angel?''- she whispered, her voice trembling.-
''Angel, are you back?''
''Buffy?''- she heard his voice, and knew, instantly, that his soul was back. She ran to him.
''Buffy, I- I'm so, so sorry.''- he was crying, and so was she. She kissed him, and he kissed her back, knowing that all was forgiven, and their love was still as strong as ever. They would survive no matter what. They could face anything, as long as they were together. The vampire and the vampire slayer. Anything. Even furious mothers half of whose houses were just blown up.
''All right Buffy, Just please tell me what happened.''- Joyce was trying to control herself. Buffy had checked the remains of the rubble, but Drushilla wasn't to be found. Maybe she turned to dust, maybe she escaped, but Buffy had more urgent matters to attend to. Spike was gone as well.
''It's an extremely long story mother.'' Angel, Xander, Willow and Cordelia were still there.
''I'll listen.''
''Wait, first we have to find a vampire for me to kill.'' Angel shifted uncomfortably at Buffy's words-
''Not you idiot!''- Buffy said.
''Mother, follow me.''- and before her mom had a chance to say anything, she started to drag her towards the cemetery.
''Buffy, I demand an explanation for why you blew up my house up! Now!''
''It was half of the house. And I had to do it, sacred duty, yada, yada, yada.''
''Young lady, now!''
''Mom, I promise, just wait a couple of minutes, and I'll explain everything.'' They arrived there, and it only took Buffy a few minutes to find and dust a vampire. Her mom just stood there, in shock, again.
''See, I'm the slayer. There's one born in each generation. It's my sacred duty to protect the world from vampires. Nobody is supposed to know, but quite a few people do. Angel is a vampire, but he had his soul restored. Then he lost it, after, you know, he told you when he was evil. But tonight we restored it again.''-Buffy explained in a mater of fact voice.
''And you actually expect me to believe that!''- Buffy's mom was getting even madder.
''Well you saw that guy turn to dust! And what about his face?''
''Those were tricks of light!''
Buffy sighed.
''Angel, game face, please.'' He shifted his face, and Buffy's mom screamed.
''Mom, look here.''- the slayer said, and went over to a tree. She took an exceptionally thick branch and broke it.
''Would a normal person be able to do that?'' - Buffy asked, and Joyce tried to say something, but couldn't .
''Yeah, your daughter's a superhero, we're the sidekicks. We've saved the world on about, hmm, 10 occasions?''- Xander tried to help.
''Yeah, we live on top of the hellmouth, which is like a big neon sign that says ''all things sinister welcome.''- Cordelia broke in-
''I really do have to be getting home.''
''This, this…''-Buffy's mom got her speech back.
''Is going to take some getting used to, I know. Tomorrow you'll meet my watcher. That's Giles.''
''Your what?''
''I have a lot of things to tell you. Come on, let's go home. Or what's left of it anyway.''
And as Buffy watched all her friends and mom on one side, happily chatting, and her now good again true love on the other, she thought about Spike. They'd been unlikely allies, but they'd pulled it of. He was happy now, and all her friends, and boyfriend, and mom and herself were happy as well. It seemed everyone was feeling great, and this was the perfect evening. Everyone would be celebrating. Well, except the insurance company.
