This is a Buffy/Angel and Xander/Willow story. So everyone wins.
He’s here, she thought. She felt him near her. When she turned around he
stood there smiling. He motioned for her to come near him, and she obeyed. He
held her and she cried. She kissed him and he tried to pull away. But she
held onto him as long as she could, and then he ran off, into the shadows.
That’s what had happened last night. Buffy didn’t want to get out of bed the
next morning. Her face was red with tear stains. She had been up all night
sobbing her eyes out. But she knew that she couldn’t forget Angel: his face,
his laugh, his smile, his lips. She continued to sob until her mom came in.
She raced to Buffy’s side, and held her. Buffy still sobbed and kept saying
his name.
Joyce Summers sat on her daughter’s bed and watched her sleep. She had heard
the name Buffy kept uttering, even in her sleep. Angel. Who was Angel? Why
was Angel making her daughter so sad?
Joyce went to the school to see Willow and Xander to find out who Angel was.
She found them in the library, with Mr. Giles, the librarian.
“Hello?”, Joyce said.
They all looked up at her.
“Mrs. Summers. What are you doing here? Where’s Buffy?”, Giles asked.
“Well Buffy stayed home today because I couldn’t get her to stop crying. I
came here to ask you all about her.”, Joyce said.
Willow stared at Buffy’s mom. It’s Angel, she thought to herself. Should she
tell her?
“Well Buffy hasn’t seemed much different to me.”, Xander said, smiling.
“I came to ask you about Angel. Who’s Angel?”, Joyce asked.
They all looked at each other. Willow finally broke the silence.
“He’s a guy that Buffy’s been seeing. They broke up and all she does is think
of him.”, Willow explained.
“Well Buffy won’t come out of bed. I have to tell him she needs him.”, Joyce
said.
“Well, no one exactly knows where to contact Angel, or where he lives.”,
Giles said.
“I would like Willow to come see her. If you can leave school?”, Joyce asked.
Willow nodded. Giles and Xander watched the two women walk out of the library
in silence.
When Willow came into Buffy’s room, she almost cried when she saw Buffy’s
tearstained form. She closed the door and Buffy awoke.
“Willow. What about school?”, Buffy asked.
“Your mom came to school to ask about you. And Angel.”, Willow said.
“Angel? How does she know about him?”, Buffy asked, surprised.
“You must have said something to her in your sleep.”, Willow said.
Buffy briefly remembered saying Angel’s name in between sobs. She then
started sniffling again.
“I said his name in between sobs. Willow, I never realized how much I needed
him until now.”, Buffy cried.
She fell into Willow’s arms, sobbing.
Willow had been with Buffy all day when she saw the dark figure staring back
at her. She knew it was him. But she couldn’t tell Buffy that he was there,
because she’d begin sobbing even more than she already was. Willow traded
places with him, and he held onto Buffy as though she’d blow away.
Buffy suddenly smelled a very familiar smell. She knew Angel was holding
her. She pulled away and looked up at him. His face was covered in tears,
just as her’s was. Angel pulled Buffy into him and passionately kissed her.
She was still crying as he continued to kiss her.
Willow left the room at that moment. She knew that Angel was the only thing
that could make Buffy feel better. A tear fell down her cheek when her
thoughts turned to Xander. Why couldn’t he see how much she loved him? Why
couldn’t he love her as much as Angel loved Buffy?
Xander and Giles were still at the library, researching. They hadn’t found
anything worthwhile yet. Xander’s thoughts had only been on Buffy and Willow.
What was wrong with Buffy? Why had she been crying all night? He knew the
answer to both of his questions but didn’t want to think it. It had all been
because of “him”. Angel.
Mrs. Summers went up to Buffy’s room and saw Willow sitting on the floor in
the hall. Willow’s face was red with tears stains and she wiped her eyes. She
looked up at Joyce.
“Willow? Willow what’s wrong?”, Joyce asked.
Willow stared at her. “Xander. Why can’t he see how much I love him?”, Willow
cried.
“Well Willow, guys aren’t very smart at that age. Just look at Buffy and
Angel.”, Mrs. Summers said.
“But Angel loves Buffy! They just can’t be together.”, Willow cried.
She burst into tears. Then she looked at Buffy’s mom.
“Can I sleep over tonight?”, Willow asked.
Joyce nodded and walked downstairs to get Willow ready for bed on the couch.
Then Joyce went up to her room and slept.
Buffy was still in her room holding onto Angel. He had gotten her to stop
crying, but he knew she’d start up again. He was still crying though. She let
go of him, and wiped away his tears.
“Why do we have to feel like this?”, Buffy cried.
“It’s life’s way of saying we’re destined to be together.”, Angel said.
“But we can’t be.”, they said in unison.
Buffy’s tears started to flow again, and so did Angel’s. They started to
kiss, and fell unto Buffy’s bed. Neither of them wanted this night to end,
and it didn’t.
The next morning, Willow woke up and walked upstairs to Buffy’s room for
some clothes. When she walked in, she saw Buffy and Angel. Together. In bed.
Naked. She went to Buffy to wake her up.
“What.”, Buffy groaned.
“Time to get dressed Buffy.”, Willow yelled.
Buffy looked around her. Angel was asleep. She freaked out and woke him up.
“Angel! Get up!”, she yelled.
He woke up and felt the sunlight hit his body. He growled. He got dressed
and closed Buffy’s shades.
“I have to hide.”, Angel said.
He kissed Buffy and hid in her closet, then she got dressed and left with
Willow.
Buffy’s mom had gotten up and went to work early. She said that she’d call
her in the note she left.
Buffy walked into school with a big smile on her face. Willow couldn't stop
asking questions, and she couldn’t stop answering them.
“So was it great?”, Willow asked excitedly.
“Yeah. He didn’t go vamp on me either.”, Buffy answered happily.
“Wow. So, are you gonna tell Giles?”, Willow asked.
“Yeah. I guess I have to.”, Buffy said.
The two giggling girls came into the library. Xander immediately rushed over
to Buffy.
“You okay Buffy? I mean, yesterday...”, Xander trailed off.
“Yeah I’m fine.”, Buffy answered, smiling.
“Why are you so happy?”, Giles asked.
Buffy looked at him, smiling.
“Giles, we need to talk.”, Buffy said and walked into the office with him.
She closed the door.
Giles sat, worried.
“Me and Angel made love.”, Buffy said quickly.
Giles sat there, shocked.
“Buffy! Do you realize what you’ve done?”, Giles yelled.
“What?”, Buffy asked, frightened.
“You could have killed yourself!”, Giles screamed.
Buffy started to cry.
“Well you don’t have to scream! It’s not like I’d no.”, Buffy yelled.
Giles walked over to her and held her. Her muffled sobs were heard by Willow
and Xander, who came in.
“What’s.......”, Xander was cut off by Willow covering his mouth.
Buffy ran over to Willow and she held her.
“I love him. I thought everyone would be as happy as Willow was.”, Buffy
cried.
I’m sorry Buffy.”, Giles said.
“Sorry about what? What’s going on?”, Xander asked.
Buffy looked at Xander and burst into tears again.
“Her and Angel slept together.”, Willow said.
Xander was stunned. He finally realized that his dreams of Buffy were
shattered.
Buffy looked up at him. His face was so angry. She went to touch him, but he
pulled away. Tears were stinging in his eyes and Willow saw. She hugged him.
Then he ran off and Willow ran after him.
Buffy looked at Giles and he walked out of the library. She was left all
alone, in the dark, with a bit of sunlight. She burst into tears and
collapsed on the ground.
Willow finally caught up with Xander and they hugged.
“I just can’t believe it’s all over. I finally realized I can’t have her.”,Xander cried.
Willow was crying. “You can find someone else. Someone better.”, she said.
Xander looked up at her. Her face was tearstained and there was so much love
in her eyes.
“I never realized how beautiful your face looks in the sunlight.”, Xander
said.
Willow smiled and swallowed her tears.
“I love you.”, she said.
Xander was stunned. She loved him. Did he love her? Of course, he always
has. But in that way?, he thought.
“I think I love you too.”, Xander said.
Willow laughed and hugged him. Then he kissed her. Happiness like this is
what they both wanted. They walked off campus to cut the rest of the day
together.
Buffy was still curled up on the floor of the library crying. It was just
after sundown. The school was closed, the lights were all off, and Buffy was
completely alone. She didn’t see the dark figure lurking in the doorway.
“Buffy.”, the stranger said.
She looked up and wiped her eyes. She smiled at Angel’s face.
“Hi.”, she said, sniffling.
“What’s wrong?”, he asked, racing to her side.
“Everyone hates me.”, she said, looking into his eyes, “Everyone but you.”
He pulled her into him, Angel passionately kissed her and she just buckled.
He had to hold her up to not let her fall.
“It’s late. Do you want me to walk you home?”, Angel asked.
“Yeah.”, was all Buffy could say.
He walked her home and went up with her. She sat on the bed and cried.
“I can’t do this anymore.”, Buffy cried.
Angel looked at her, surprised.
“I know. Neither can I .”, he said.
“What are we gonna do?”, she asked.
The conversation stopped. Neither of them knew what to say.
Willow was in heaven. She had Xander, Buffy had Angel, and everyone was
happy. She couldn’t stop remembering her and Xander’s kiss. It had been
great. She couldn’t get over it. She was sitting alone in her room, at her
computer. She glanced at the clock. 11:30 P.M. A sudden noise scared her. She
looked aver to her window and smiled at Xander’s face. Willow let him in.
“Hi.”, Xander said.
“Hi. What are you doing here so late?”, she asked.
“I was just thinking of you.”, he said, smiling.
She leaned in and kissed him. Then they fell onto her bed and giggled.
“You look so beautiful.”, Xander said, pulling her hair away from her face.
“I can’t believe this is real.”, Willow said, dazed.
“Well, it is.”, Xander said, and kissed her.
They rolled around on her bed, and then fell onto the floor, laughing.
“We aren’t very good at this, are we?”, Xander laughed.
“Nope.”, Willow laughed.
The he kissed her.
Buffy and Angel were still lying on Buffy’s bed, holding each other. They
just couldn’t let go. It was 12:30 A.M. They had been holding each other for
an hour. Buffy’s sobs were muffled by Angel’s tender kisses. They both knew
this wouldn’t be the last time they saw each other, but it might be their
last time together.
Xander and Willow were still rolling around on her bed, giggling. He leaned
in and kissed her, and he felt her trembling.
“Are you ok?”, Xander asked.
“Yeah. I’m fine.”, Willow whispered.
“No, you’re scared.”, Xander said.
“Yeah. A little.”, Willow said.
He was on top of her and he kissed her. He took off his shirt and kissed her
neck. That night was one of those nights you’d never forget, and it would
never end.
Angel and Buffy stopped kissing. It was 5 A.M. A couple of hours before
sunrise. Buffy cried as Angel left her for safety in his dark loft, and he
fought back his tears as he gave her a goodbye kiss.
Willow woke up in Xander’s warm, loving arms. She smiled when she remembered
last night. She would never forget it. He looked up at her, and she smiled.
Then they kissed: Glad that her parents were on vacation, glad that they were
together, and glad that everything was perfect.
Willow smiled at the thought of her good luck. She had Xander, and Buffy had
Angel. It was great.
Little did she know that Buffy was at home, sobbing her eyes out, and Angel
was sitting on his bed, and crying at the thought of never seeing her happy
face again. But both of them knew their love would never keep them apart.
