Today was the day. He was waiting in his loft. What was he going to say? What was he going to do? Could anyone ever forgive him? His face fell when he remembered last night’s events. How could he do such a terrible thing to her? Would his true love die by his bloodthirsty fangs? He had been out following Buffy last night. Suddenly the demon inside him took over and he went up to Buffy. She smiled, as she always did when he saw her. Then he pulled her into his arms and sank his teeth into her neck. She immediately collapsed into his arms, and he continued to drain her. But Willow, Giles, and Xander had seen him, and ran over to help Buffy. They were all shocked when Angel’s snarling face was holding Buffy’s lifeless body. But when he saw them, suddenly he finally took over his body and saw what he had done. He ran off. He kept seeing her lifeless body in his arms. How could he have done it?
There was a knock on his door. He opened it, and was face to face with Giles, Willow, and Xander. They walked into the apartment silently and he closed the door behind them. He looked at all of their faces. Willow’s face was bright red with tear stains, and she had a look of disappointment and hatred in her eyes. Giles’s face was even more bleak. He stared into Angel’s eyes coldly, with a look as if he were saying, Why? Then Xander’s was the most scornful. He had deep hatred and anger coming out of his stare. He looked as if he could rip Angel into two. Finally Angel sat down.

“How could you do it?”, Giles said finally.

Angel still had his head held down to the ground, solemnly.

“I was just following her, and suddenly the demon took full control. I couldn’t stop it. I saw what I was doing, but I couldn’t stop my body from doing what I was doing. When I finally gained control again and was horrified by Buffy’s lifeless body in my arms. Then I saw all of you, I ran off.”, Angel said.

“I see. But Angel Buffy may not live the night. You may have killed her, and we can’t forgive you for something like that. You have to understand how hard it is for us.”, Giles said.

Angel said, “I understand completely. If Buffy dies, I want you to kill me. Please, promise me you’ll do that.”

“I promise.”, Giles said.

“Angel, I know how much you love Buffy and how much she loves you. I know that you would never hurt her intentionally.”, Willow said, crying.

She fell into Xander’s arms, sobbing hysterically. He held onto her, and looked into Angel’s eyes. Xander had tears streaming down his face. Angel didn’t want to hear what Xander was going to say next. “I love her. And she loves you more than anything in the whole word. I watch you with her, and how safe she feels in you arms. How do you think she felt when you drained her, how do you think she felt when you drained her of almost all of her life!?”, Xander screamed.

Angel’s face shifted and he growled loudly at Xander. Xander suddenly backed away, and so did Giles. Willow walked over to him and smiled with her red, tearstained eyes staring at him.

“Go to her.”, was all she said.

Angel ran out of the loft faster than he ever ran before.

When he climbed into Buffy’s hospital room window he saw her on the bed. She was hooked up to several machines, most of them probably keeping her alive. He burst into tears when he saw her face. She looked so innocent, so peaceful. But she wasn’t alive like he wanted her to be. His eyes finally went to the bite mark on her neck. He collapsed to the floor in a fit of sobs.

When he got up he saw her beautiful eyes looking up at him. He let out a laugh and Buffy smiled. He put his hand on her face. It was so soft. She was so weak. He could feel her tiny little life almost fading.

“I love you.”, was all she said.

“I love you more than anything.”, Angel said back.

She put her hand on his face. He kissed it and she closed her eyes. He kissed her softly and she opened her eyes again. He knew he was keeping her alive. His love for her that flowed through his veins was the only thing keeping her heart beating. But she was keeping him alive too. His knew if either of them let go, they would both die.

“ I love you Angel.”, she said.

“I love you Buffy.”, he said.

“I’ll never forget you.”, she said with tears falling down her face.

“I’ll never forget you.”, he said with tears flowing out of his eyes like a river.

Then they both let go at the same time. Their bodies fell together. She fell onto the bed and the machines all beeped, and he fell onto the ground and turned into a pile of dust. They would never see each other again. But their love would live forever and last a lifetime. Buffy’s funeral was beautiful. Their were white roses everywhere, and Buffy herself, was holding one. She looked like an angel: She wore a white dress, and her face was so naturally beautiful. Willow, Xander, and Giles walked over to the casket to pay their last respects. They were at the cemetery, so Buffy’s body was going to be lowered into the ground and everyone was going to put a rose on the casket as it was lowered. When the group got to the casket, they looked at Buffy’s neck. She was wearing the cross that Angel had given her, but suddenly another necklace appeared on her neck. It was one that they all recognized. It was Angel’s cross necklace. Willow saw it and went into a burst of sobs. She knew that he was still watching her. He was such a beautiful soul, why did he have to die along with Buffy? But she knew that it was destiny that they would both have to die together, their love had made them both live. She watched as the casket was closed. She thought she could have sworn she saw Buffy wearing a leather jacket. Na, it was just her imagination. Then she watched as the casket was lowered into the ground and everyone put a rose on the casket. When she put her rose on the casket, she looked up and saw Angel’s soul smiling at her as he placed a red rose on the casket.

“She’s happy, and we’re together. Don’t worry about us.”, Angel’s soul said.

“I won’t.”, she said smiling as she walked with Giles and Xander to Giles car and said good bye to Buffy one last time.

She looked back at the cemetery and saw Angel’s soul watching her. But then she smiled as she saw Buffy’s soul step out from behind him, and he held her. Then they passionately kissed. True Love. Together Forever.
