Buffy sat on a stone wall tapping a stake on it while she was hunting, it had been a week since Angel had regained his soul. She remembered the look in his eyes one moment when he was feeding off her then he fell to the floor screaming. When the screams died down he looked at her with tears streaming down his face. He remembered all the horrible things he did; torture the woman he loved, killed a friend, and terrorized any one else in his path. He sat over her and took her hand and said two simple words that he knew wouldn't make things all better, 'I'm sorry'. Then he ran away wiping the tears away as he ran, she couldn't have caught up to him if she had tried, so she didn't.

Now a week had gone by and she had not seen Angel, she feared the worst. She was worried he might have killed himself or left without saying goodbye. But she could only wait for him to contact her. She jumped off the wall and began to walk through the graveyard trying to find something to get her mind off him, the more she thought the more she wanted him to be there. She thought mabey he was following her two days ago but she'll never know for sure.

"Life sucks," she said bitterly as she kicked a rock in her path.
"I've got the perfect remedy for that problem." A voice said from behind her.
Buffy didn't have to look to know who it was, "Listen I'm not in the mood to chat so why don't you leave if you wanna live...Drusilla." Buffy said between clentched teeth. She turned and saw Drusilla standing in front of her, her vampire face on and she looked pissed.

"You took my Angel and I won't let it go unpunished." She said as she advanced towards her. Her eyes were on fire and if looks could kill Buffy would've dropped on the spot. But Buffy wasn't exactly in a giving mood so she hid her fear deep down where Drusilla couldn't see it. "Can't say I didn't warn you," Buffy said as she took a fighting stance. Drusilla moved with cat like speed and hit Buffy twice before she could react. Buffy stagered back but got her balance and kicked out at Drusilla. But she caught her foot and threw her to the ground pinning her down on her stomach.

She pulled a knife out and was about to stab her when someone caught her hand and threw her against the hard stone wall. Buffy got up and turned to see Angel standing beside her looking at her with his beautiful yet tourtured eyes. "Angel," Buffy said almost in a whisper.
Drusilla got up and moaned in pain. "Angel, you still fight with her? You still love her?" She said as she changed into her human face.
"I should have killed her long ago." She said looking at Buffy.
"Well you won't get the chance." Angel said angerly as he approached her pulling a stake out of his trench coat. Drusilla backed against the wall with a fearfull look in her eyes.

"You would kill me? After everything we've been through?" She said as he pinned her to the wall.
"Especially after everything we've been through." He said his vampire face on and rage in his voice. She didn't even fight him she let it happen he killed her, she didn't lift a finger to stop him.

Angel turned to look at Buffy but she wasn't there. He wouldn't be surprised if she hated him. Then he caught glimps of her, she was walking along the gravestones letting her nails skim along the smooth stones. He slowly walked behind her and she stopped to turn and look at him. "I never stopped loving you, thats why I couldn't kill him." She said while tears fell freely down her face.

"I could never hurt you, I love you and I always will. But I'm gonna go away for a while, only a while I'll be back. I just don't know when." He said as tears filled his eyes. Buffy let out a sob and she fell into his arms. They sobbed in eachothers arms until Buffy spoke up quietly.

"Don't leave me," She whispered as she closed her eyes, melting into his embrace. His face cringed at her words and a flood of tears came forward. He tightened his arms around her and rested his cheek against her soft hair. "How can you forgive me?" He asked his voice shaky.
"What did you do that needs forgiving? Angelus did all thoughs things, not you." She said quietly as the tears fell. "Tell me you won't leave me again." She sobbed as she buried her face in his chest.
"I don't want to hurt you, I couldn't bear losing you."
"Angel I'm gonna die, mabey not today, mabey not this week or this year...but it will happen. No slayer has lived long enough to get married or have kids. I could never marry another, cause my life is too dangerous. So is yours, don't you see we can't love any one else we're meant to be together." She said as she pulled back to look at his eyes.
"Promise me, that you'll be there all my life...please?" "Don't say it like that, as long as I stand I won't let you die." He said lifting her chin up so she would look into his eyes. "We'll always be together no matter what."
Little did they both know how they would be ripped apart and their world would come crashing down. Two days later Spike sought vengence for Drusillas death, and he succeded. Buffy was walking home from patrolling when he and seven vampires jumped her from behind and drug her away. She was reported missing by the police but Angel knew better.

He found Spike but he wouldn't tell him where she was and took his secret to hell. That night everyone was gathered in the library and she burst in stumbling cause of her injuries. Spikes minions had her but she got away somehow which no one will ever know. Angel took her in his arms and they said their goodbyes, her last words were I love you then the light in her eyes vanished and she died in his arms. The marks, burns, cuts, and broken bones indicated that she'd been tortured. But she didn't go without a fight, that was clear from the bruises on her knuckles and other clear battle wounds.

Angel took a stake and ran from the library. Willow and Giles tried to talk to him but he wouldn't listen. In his mind he had let her down and he took his life...in the name of love.
