The X-Files
(1993-present)

The X-Files was created by Chris Carter and focuses on two F.B.I. agents, one a believer and one a skeptic, who investigate unexplained phenomena. It quickly attracted a cult following and is one of the most popular shows on Television today. It relies on a vast mythology and government conspiracies concerning aliens. It is currently in it's fifth season on Fox, a movie is planned for release in June 98, and the sixth and seventh seasons have been confirmed.

 

The Characters

Fox Mulder: Nicknamed Spooky, he worked in Violent Crimes before the X-files. Believes in paranormal activity and government cover-up of UFO activity. Also believes that his father was a part of the cover up. His sister was abducted in 1973. Played by David Duchovny.

Dana Scully: A forensic pathologist originally assigned to the X-Files to debunk Mulder's work, originally skeptical, but now open to the possibilities. She has suffered greatly since working with Mulder, including the loss of her sister, father, being abducted and having cancer. Despite this, she continues to work on the X-Files. Played by Gillian Anderson.

Walter Skinner: The Assistant Director, an ex-Marine who tries to support Mulder and Scully as much as possible. He has made deals with Cancerman at great risk. Played by Mitch Pileggi.

Deep Throat: Mulder's informant the first season. Helped Mulder as much as possible, he knows the truth, but never told Mulder everything. Killed trying to help Mulder. Played by Jerry Hardin.

The Lone Gunmen: A group of conspiracy buffs who help Mulder and Scully find information. Langley, Byers, and Frohike have put their lives in danger many times for their friends. Played by Dean Haglund, Bruce Hardwood, and Tom Braidwood.

Cancerman: An evil man, involved in the Consortium, an old friend of Mulder's parents. He tried to keep Mulder and Scully from learning the truth. He was involved in Samantha's disappearance. Disappeared after double crossing the Consortium. Played by William B. Davis.

Consortium: A group of men who try to keep people from discovering the truth about aliens and the government.

Alex Krycek: Assigned as Mulder's partner after he and Scully were separated. He pretended he believed Mulder, but was actually working for Cancerman and was later almost killed by the Consortium. He was later locked in a silo, but escaped. He lost an arm in Russia. Played by Nicholas Lea.

Mr. X: Mulder's informant after the death of Deep Throat. He was not always a good guy. Killed while trying to help Mulder. Played by Steven Williams.

Marita Covarubias: Mulder's informant after the death of Mr. X. Actually works for Cancerman and involved with Krycek.
