Lizzie: Lucky?
Lucky: (Walking in the door with a brownie) Happy birthday. (They smile at each other)
Lucky: (Handing her the brownie with the candle lit) You ready? Make a wish.
Lizzie: Ok. Give me your hand. (She takes his hand and blows out the candle)
Lucky: You aced it. One wish coming true.
Lizzie: Feels like it's already on the way. Here, take half. (She splits up the brownie and hands him a piece)
Lucky: You want the fork?
Lizzie: Nope.
Lucky: Thank you.
Lizzie: You know, I know we have to go down to the police station and make a statement about what happened last night and probably have to I.D. Tom as the man who raped me, but in spite of all that, I just have this feeling that today is going to be a wonderful day.
Lucky: Birthdays are like that.
Lizzie: Maybe. Or maybe it's the person I’m sharing it with.
Lucky: You think?
Lizzie: Could be.
Lucky: Let's test that theory. (They lean towards each other and the phone rings) Stay right there. Save my brownie.
Lizzie: Ok.
Lucky: (He answers the phone) Yeah?
Bobbie: (At the hospital) Hi, Lucky. It's Bobbie. I'm actually looking for Elizabeth, and I thought you might know where she is.
Lucky: Yeah, hold on. She's right here. (Be holds the phone out to Lizzie) It's Bobbie.
Lizzie: (Looking worried) Thanks.
Lucky: Mm-hmm.
Lizzie: Hi.
Bobbie: Hi. We just got back the results of your follow-up HIV test, and I thought you'd might want to know what they are.
Lizzie: (Closing her eyes for a moment) Ok. How'd I do?
Bobbie: Oh, well, as far as I’m concerned, they're for your eyes only. I haven't opened them.
Lizzie: Oh. All right, then. I guess I’ll come over right away.
Bobbie: I could come to you. Will you be at Lucky’s for about another hour?
Lizzie: Sure.
Bobbie: Ok. I'll leave as soon as I can.
Lucky: (Coming over to her as she hangs up) Something wrong?
Lizzie: The truth? I hope not. Lucky, there's something I didn't tell you.
Lizzie: (after telling him) Anyway, I knew you would worry, so I decided to take the test and wait it out. Are you mad at me?
Lucky: Hardly. I kind of hate the thought of this hanging over your head with no one to ease it for you, though.
Lizzie: Tell you the truth, with everything that's been going on lately, it wasn't hard not to think about it. But now--what if it is bad news?
Lucky: I know you're scared. But since it's out of our hands, anticipating the worst won't do any good.
Lizzie: What if I am HIV-positive? What am I going to do?
Lucky: Well, first thing to remember is that you wouldn't be alone.
Lizzie: You say that now, but--
Lucky: Elizabeth--I’m not going to abandon you, no matter what--not ever. Now, the first thing we'd do is speak to Robin. She's been there. She could help us out, give us some guidelines. We'll handle this, I swear.
Lizzie: (There's a knock on the door) Oh, that must be Bobbie. (Lucky gets up and lets Bobbie in. Lizzie anxiously looks at her)
Lizzie: I told him.
Bobbie: I expected you would. (She hands her the envelope)
Lizzie: (She opens it and looks at it, then shows it to Bobbie) What does it mean?
Bobbie: (Taking a relieved breath) It's negative.
Lizzie: (She sighs in relief as Lucky comes over and hugs her) Oh. God, I was nervous.
Lucky: Whoo.
Lizzie: Why didn't you want me to come to the hospital?
Bobbie: Because I knew today was your birthday and I figured GH was probably the last place you'd want to be.
Lizzie: You knew? How?
Bobbie: Oh, the magic of paperwork. Happy birthday, Elizabeth. I'm so glad I could bring you good news.
Lizzie: Thank you.
Bobbie: As you know, HIV is nothing to take lightly, but with two negative tests behind you, chances are the next two will be as well.
Lizzie: Then it'll be over, finally.
Bobbie: The medical aspects, anyway.
Lucky: Something happened that you don't know about, Bobbie. Elizabeth's case has changed. Last night we found the man who raped her.
Lizzie: And the next thing I knew, the gun was in my hand and I was pointing it at Tom. And I kept hearing him admit that he raped me. And I thought, 'here's my chance to hurt him as much as he's hurt me.'
Bobbie: But you didn't. Why not?
Lizzie: I was his victim once. That was enough.
Bobbie: Thank God you had the self-control to stop before you crossed a line.
Lizzie: I could never kill anybody. And now I get to do what every rape victim should get the chance to do--face my attacker in a courtroom and put him in jail for what he did to me.
Bobbie: Well, don't forget I’m here if you need moral support or anything at all.
Lizzie: I won't. Thanks.
Lucky: We should be getting to the police station.
Lizzie: Oh, yeah, right.
Bobbie: Yeah, actually, I have to get back to work.
Lizzie: You know, between making this statement and getting the news about not being HIV-positive, this is one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.
Bobbie: Happy birthday. (She hugs her) I'm glad I could be a happy part of it. Enjoy your special day. You deserve it. Make sure of that, ok?
Lucky: Oh, you know I will. (He walks her to the door)
Lizzie: Bye.
Lucky: Thanks. (Bobbie leaves)
Lizzie: Before we go, there's one thing I want to do.
Lucky: Name it.
Lizzie: Finish that brownie. (They go sit down on the bed) You know, it's funny, Lucky--all of a sudden, everything just feels different.
Lucky: Tell me how.
Lizzie: Like the first warm day after a really cold winter.
(next scene)
Lizzie: Are you ready? I told Commissioner Scorpio we were on our way.
Lucky: Ok. Look, I wasn't sure that the brownie would be enough, so I got you this, too. (He hands her a box)
Lizzie: (Pulling out a bracelet) Oh, Lucky.
Lucky: The charm symbolizes your future as a painter.
Lizzie: I love it. Thank you. It's very thoughtful.
Lucky: Are you sure? Because I would've bought you something more expensive. It's just--
Lizzie: Lucky, you don't have to get me expensive gifts. Just being with you is the best present I’ve ever had. (He puts it on her wrist. All of their touching moments are shown to Lucky's song 'Elizabeth', and then they kiss)
A little prayer for me in sight
Know that I will be there when you call
Know that I will catch you if you might fall
Elizabeth
Go to sleep
I want to watch you breathe
I want to feel god's peace
All I want is this
Elizabeth
As you kneel beside your bed tonight
Keep a little prayer for me in sight
Know that I will be there when you call
Know that I will catch you if you might fall
Elizabeth
