Kate's Concerts Story
"Angel"

Pacey looked thoughtfully around Andie's room. It was quite neat and filled to the top with books, photos, candles, knick-knacks, and anything else that would fit.
He picked up a ratty stuffed dog from the bed and looked at it. It had definitely seen better days. Its ears and tail drooped and its fur was matted. But it brought a smile to his face.

"Hi! I'm Andie's dog! Arf arf! Did you know that Andie…." Pacey's impression of the dog was cut short by Andie's return to her room.

"Hey!" She grabbed the dog from him. "Don't play with Arfer like that!"

Pacey couldn't contain his laughter. "Arfer!" He shook his head. "His name is Arfer!" Pacey chuckled.

A hurt expression washed over Andie's face. She clutched the dog close to her. "What's so funny about that?" She snapped.

Pacey immediately felt bad for laughing. "Nothing. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. But if it makes you feel any
better, my old stuffed bear was named Mr. Tinkles!" Pacey smiled at his last remark and put his hand on Andie's shoulder.

Andie smiled and laughed a little. "That's okay. Mr. Tinkles? Where did that come from?"

Pacey rolled his eyes and flopped down on the bed. "My mom named him. She gave it too me the day I was potty trained."

Andie sat next to Pacey on the bed. Then giggled a little. "So when was that, last year?" Andie smiled broadly.

"Very funny. Really." Pacey leaned over and began to tickle Andie. Soon they were rolling on the bed tickling each other until they couldn't breathe.

"Mercy! Mercy!" Andie yelled, escaping from Pacey. Pacey gloated for a minute about his victory. "C'mon, we should start studying for Econ."

Pacey groaned, but got out his book just the same. "Hey, how about a little mood music?"

Andie thought it over. "Okay, but I get to choose." She walked over to the CD player and hit play. The music of Sarah McLachlan filled the air.

"What is this?" Pacey asked with a disgusted look on his face.

Andie smiled smugly. "It's Sarah McLachlan. The album is called Surfacing. It's really good. But I guess you don't appreciate any music besides Puff Daddy."

Pacey put a mock hurt expression on his face. "Are you accusing moi of having bad musical taste?"

"Yes." Andie said staring him straight in the eye.

"I would like to say I do not enjoy Puff Daddy. Yes, he had several good songs, but I'm over it now. Besides, I never pegged you as the type to listen to this Lilith Fair crap." Pacey matched Andie's glare.

"Crap!" Andie said incredulously. "This is far from crap!" As much as she hated to admit it, she loved arguing with Pacey like this. 'He's so cute,' she thought to herself.

Pacey shrugged his shoulders. 'Wow', he thought to himself, 'she looks so pretty when she's mad!'

All was silent for a few minutes while the two contemplated their thoughts.

Finally, Pacey broke the silence. "Why do you like this music so much?" He said it in a friendly way, not at all mean.

Andie was taken aback by the question. "Why not? I mean, it's really good."

Pacey clarified himself. "Well, there must be a reason besides that. I noticed you have a bunch of her CDs and posters up. It must be something more then 'really good.'"

Andie looked at Pacey, not sure whether to tell him or not. Finally she decided to. "Okay, Sherlock, I guess it's because one of the last things I did with my brother was
go to her concert. After he died, I would listen to all of his old CDs and remember that night. I guess it's just comforting to me."

Pacey nodded. "Oh. I'm sorry I made fun of it then. I can understand the soothing part. I hate to admit it, but this music is really good."

Andie smiled. "That's okay. I just wanted to say thanks again for being here for me. I mean, I never told any
else about my brother, yet. So I guess I just wanted you to hear this music, to share it with you."

Pacey squeezed Andie's hand. "It's wonderful," he whispered before pulling her into his arms. He remembered how good it felt to hold her. He hadn't done it since that night, a
week ago, when she told him about her brother. Since then they had been a lot closer and his feelings towards her only grew stronger. He wanted to kiss her so bad, but something in him told him that the time wasn't right. He could wait.

That night, Pacey came up with a plan. He found out that Sarah McLachlan was in Providence that week. He knew Andie would love to go, but it was sold out. He talked to some friends at school,
made a few calls and after a lot more money then he would have liked to pay, he had the tickets. He decided to give them to Andie after Econ the next day.

Pacey felt in his pocket for the envelope for the hundredth time that hour. The minutes seemed like hours. Finally, the bell rang. He jumped out of his seat and met Andie at the door.

"Hey Pacey!" Andie exclaimed when she caught up to him. "Wasn't Econ boring?"

Pacey nodded. He pulled the envelope out of his pocket. "So, are you doing anything tonight?" He asked, concealing the envelope behind his back.

Andie grinned. "No, are you asking me out?"

Pacey laughed. "No, why would you think that?" Andie's face fell. Pacey laughed again. "Of course I am!"

Andie smiled once again. "That was mean. Hopefully tonight will go better then last week! What did you have in mind?"

It was Pacey's turn to smile. "Well, I found these laying around. We mine as well put them to use!" He produced the envelope.

Andie grinned suspiciously. "What is it?" She took the package from his hands.

"Just open it!"

Andie tore the envelope open, revealing the tickets. When she read them she screamed. "Oh my God! Where did you get these!"

Pacey shrugged. "I have connections."

"They sure are good ones. This concert has been sold out for weeks. These are on the floor too!" Andie was jumping up and down. "Thank you so much! This is the best thing anybody's ever done for me!" She threw her arms around him.

"Your welcome! Pick you up at four." Pacey whispered in her ear. With that, he pulled from her
embrace and planted a soft kiss on her cheek. Then left for class. Andie was left in the hall her hand on her cheek, grinning like an idiot.

Later that night, Pacey and Andie arrived at the concert.

"These are great seats!" Andie yelled to Pacey over the opening band.

"Plenty of room for dancing!" She did a little dance step in place to prove her point.

Pacey laughed. "I'm glad you like it!"

For the rest of the concert the couple enjoyed the music, swaying in place and singing along. Pacey spent most of the time watching how beautiful Andie looked in the dim
lighting of the venue. She was smiling uncontrollably the entire concert, although a few tears slipped down her cheeks when the songs reminded her of her brother. Andie spent the majority of the time half listening to the music, half watching Pacey out of the corner of
her eye. He was so cute. She could tell he was watching her. Sometime in the concert his hand slipped into hers and stayed there. She hadn't been this happy in a long time.

For the last encore of the concert, Sarah played 'Angel'. Andie smiled when the song started, remembering how beautiful it was. A thought immediately occurred to her. "Pacey, wanna dance?" She smiled sweetly at him.

Pacey smiled back. "I'd love to." He pulled her tight in his arms and they swayed gently to the beat. He had to admit the song was incredibly romantic. He kissed Andie lightly on her head.

"Pacey," She whispered up to him, "Thanks for the wonderful time. I meant it when I said that no one has ever done anything so wonderful for me."

"It was my pleasure. Anything to see your beautiful smile." Pacey had meant the words to come out in a teasing manner, but they didn't. He could see Andie's face turn a deep red even in the dark light but she had
a smile on her face. Pacey couldn't stand it any longer; he just blurted it out. "Andie, I don't know if you still have a crush on me or not..."

Andie's smiled faded slightly and she looked embarrassed. She opened her mouth to speak but Pacey interrupted her.

"But I'd just like to say, I have a really, really big crush on you." Pacey smiled and waited for Andie's reaction. Her face and a look of shock mixed with happiness.

"Really?" She said softly.

"Oh, yeah!" Pacey said with a wink. Andie started to giggle but before she could his mouth closed over hers. After they kissed, they held each other for the remainder of the concert, each blissfully happy.
