Overall:
The opening sequence is enough to make this one of the best episodes. Every scene is perfect, and after all, its the episode that got us all hooked. We are introduced to the Dawson-Joey relationship, and Pacey’s quest to sleep with his teacher. What more can we ask for. The only thing that bugs me is the part where Jen is introduced. The fact that both Dawson and Pacey leave Joey (how can I say this without sounding like a pig? Well, she’s gorgeous and wet.) behind to go gawk at Jen, who is no match for Joey wet or dry, is unbelievable. Yeah I know, they grew up together.
My Favorite Part:
As you might have guessed, my favorite part is the opening sequence. This show is so cool. Dawson and Joey forever.
Cool Stuff:
- Dawson’s movie looks pretty good for a 15 yr old’s.
- I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but just about everything in the first episode has a parallel in the season finale. A quick example would be Joey finding Jen in Dawson’s room, which also happened in the SF.
- The coolest line in the episode has to be Pacey saying, "I actually have the possibility of losing my virginity in a high level fantasyfashion." Simply cool.
Poor Joey:
- Jen shows up just when Joey is starting to have feelings for Dawson.
- She wears lipstick and everything, and Dawson doesn’t even acknowledge her presence.
- She has to go with Dawson on his first date with Jen. How weird is that?
Dawson’s Butthead line of the week:
He doesn’t really have a butthead line this episode, but we are introduced to the fact that he is a butthead. For the girls the question is "why can’t he see that Joey has feelings for him?" For the guys the question is "why can’t he see that Joey is hot?", either way Dawson's a loser.
Dawson’s saving grace line of the week:
This is the line in each episode that keeps you from completely hating Dawson.
"When I saw you with the lipstick on, I remember thinking how pretty you looked."
