The Road Rovers meet the Computer Renegade -- Part 1

The scene is at Road Rover HQ, where Hunter, Colleen, Shag, Blitz, Exile,
Huntress and DJ are all seated at the breifing room table.  The Master
appears in front of a huge monitor screen, and describes the Rover's next
mission....

MASTER:   Rovers, there's been a number of seemingly unrelated thefts of
nuclear waste in the past few days.  A few minutes ago a group of masked
thugs broke into a secret government nuclear waste dump in North Dakota.
Time is precious, Rovers, your mission is to stop them from stealing any
of the waste, in the wrong hands, it could mean the end of the world!

Shag shivers and jumps in Hunter's lap.  Blitz looks annoyed.

BLITZ:  So what if some stoogees run off with radioactive stuff, big deal,
ya!

DJ (looking at Blitz):  Don't you realize what a crazy madman could do
with just one barrel of it?

HUNTRESS (stares at Blitz): We have to save the world, honey, it's our
job, remember?

BLITZ:  Oh ya, I forgot...... sorry

HUNTER (stands up):  We're dogs with a mission, we're ROAD ROVERS!!!

All the Rovers howl in unison, then leave the briefing room.   Muzzle
bounces out with them on his gerny.   All of them enter into a Sky Rover,
and immediately take off for North Dakota.   They land in a clearing near
the site, they all notice that no military personel are anywhere to be
found.  They also notice a dozen masked men loading barrels of nuclear
waste into a cargo plane.   As the Rovers were ready to attack, they hear
a loud BOOM! on the other side of the compound.

HUNTER:  (yelling)  Rovers!   Take cover!   We've been discovered!

Shag and Blitz run in the opposite direction and hide behind a nearby
tree.   Hunter, Huntress and Colleen take cover behind a parked army jeep.
 DJ, Exile and Muzzle hide behind some nearby crates.   Unseen by the
Rovers, on the other side of the complex, the Computer Renegade and his
friends have arrived.  The Renegade, dressed in his Zorro-like costume,
directs everyone to take cover.   The Masked Melitta, dressed in her white
costume and cape, hides beside the Renegade.  Otto (the German Shepard)
and Samantha (the Collie) hide behind some crates.   Starlight, the white
horse, and the Computer Gila Monster, dressed in his black leather jacket
and jeans, disappear behind a barracks building.   The loud booming noise
arouses the attention of the henchmen, who all reach for their weapons and
begin firing in all directions.   A bazooka blows up the barracks that
Starlight and the Gila Monster are hidden behind, both are saved thanks to
Starlight's force field.   This prompts Otto and Starlight to emerge for
their hiding places and begin firing laser beams from their eyes, melting
several of the henchmen's gun barrels.   The Renegade and Masked Melitta
each take out one of their 'black boxes' and activate their "image
projectors" which makes many 'Renegades" and "Masked Melittas" appear
before the confused henchmen.   It was in this moment of confusion that
the Gila Monster attacked, using the 2 x 4 he always carries to beat up
some of the masked raiders.   The Rovers see all this and can't quite
understand what is going on.   Many of the henchmen's stray shots hit near
where the Rovers are hiding.

COLLEEN:  Huntie-Wuntie, what's going on?

HUNTER:  I can't really tell, whatever is happening, we can't see it
through that cloud of dust they're making

HUNTRESS:  What do you suggest we do?

HUNTER:  Well, sis, are you up for some high speed action?   First, we'll
blow away the dust so we can all see, then the other Rovers can attack!

HUNTRESS:  Let's do it, brother!

Hunter and Huntress run quickly to the other side of the compound, this
succeeds in lifting the dust cloud.   As Hunter and Huntress stop to look,
Samantha jumps up from behind a crate.

SAMANTHA: (yelling)  BEHIND YOU, EVERYONE, THEY'RE TRYING TO ESCAPE!

HUNTER:  You can talk?  But you're just a collie dog!

HUNTRESS: (giggling): Better not let Colleen hear you say that!

SAMANTHA:  (growling) YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY!!

HUNTER:  What kind of a Cano-Mutant are you?

SAMANTHA:  (growling):  ENOUGH TALKING, TIME TO ATTACK!!

As Samantha runs towards them, Hunter and Huntress speed back towards the
other side of the compound, the other Rovers notice that most of the
henchmen are lying on the ground, DJ sees the Gila Monster swinging his 2
x 4 and shoots a gas tennis ball at him.  With his quick reflexes, the
Gila Monster bats it away with his board, growls and runs towards his
position.  Exile jumps up and freezes the Gila Monster with his eye beams.
 

BLITZ (laughing)  I'm glad that that green goonie is frozen solid, if he
wasn't, I'd bite his toochie so hard...

EXILE:  Don't be a weird boy!

Hunter and Colleen notice that there are the two costumed humans, two dogs
and a horse left standing.

COLLEEN:  They must be with the bad guys, you and Huntress knocked all the
others out with your super speed!

HUNTER (confused)  No, I don't think we did all of this, something's not
right here

COLLEEN:  You saw how the green guy tried to clobber us?   They all must
be working for Parvo or Groomer, or somebody?

Meanwhile, Otto, Samantha, the Renegade, the Masked Melitta and Starlight
stand in the center of the compound, discussing the situation.

C RENEGADE:  Otto, Starlight, scan the area.   Tell me who's left standing
here.

OTTO:  I can detect only eight mammals, gathered directly in front of us!

MELITTA:  Mammals?   Don't you mean humans?

STARLIGHT:  Otto's correct, these life forms are physically different than
anything I've ever encountered.   Nothing matches them in my memory banks.

SAMANTHA:  Everyone, two of them talked to me!   They're look like humans
dressed in dog costumes!

C RENEGADE:  They must be working for the enemy, look how one of them
froze the Gila Monster!   Otto, use your lasers to ...

OTTO:  That won't be neccessary, my friend.  By my calculations, the Gila
will break out of that iceberg right about ..... NOW!

The Gila Monster breaks out of the ice and runs towards the Rovers, Shag
and DJ grab Muzzle's gerny.

DJ (shouting)  LET'S MUZZLE'M!!!!!

DJ and Shag release Muzzle, but in a flash, Otto fires a blue ray at him
out of his eyes, causing Muzzle to float into the air.   Muzzle growls and
attempts to run. causing him to 'spin' in midair.

EXILE (surprised)   Bolshoi!  I'm not believing my eyes!

HUNTER (shocked)  How did that dog do that?

Colleen jumps in front of the Gila Monster and karate chops him in the
face and gut.

COLLEEN (swinging at him again)  BLIMEY!!   This green guy's tougher than
me mum's shoe leather!

GILA MONSTER (looking confused):  You sure is a weird sounding lady, but I
LOVE the way you hit me!  Do it AGAIN, please?

BLITZ (growling):  I'll bite ALL of their toochies!

Blitz runs towards the Renegade, only to be knocked down by Starlight, who
was running at full gallop.

BLITZ (standing up)  Out of my way, horseface!  Let the biting begin!

STARLIGHT:  That's enough out of you, GO AWAY!

Starlight fires a blue ray at Blitz out of her eyes and in seconds he is
floating in midair.  Blitz screams as he floats helplessly over the other
Rovers.

Hunter runs extremely fast by and snatches the Renegade's black box out of
his hands.

HUNTER (smiling):  WOW!  Neato!  Does this thing play music?

Otto runs equally fast and grabs the black box out of Hunter's hands and
returns to the Renegade's side.

OTTO (holding the box in his mouth as the Renegade removes it)  This is
yours, master!

HUNTER (startled)  I can't believe it!

DJ:  You mean that that German Shepard is as fast as you are?

HUNTER:  No, that that dog talks like John Wayne!

Huntress makes a run at the Masked Melitta, but runs into a force field,
causing her to fall to the ground.

HUNTRESS (dazed)  What just happened here?

SAMANTHA (smiling)  How do you like my force field, evil dog lady?

Colleen continues to battle the Gila Monster, she strikes him several
times in the head and body, but the Gila just stands there and smiles

COLLEEN (panting)  What kind of a mutant are you?   Why won't you fight me?

GILA MONSTER:  I ain't gonna hit a lady, it tain't right!   Excuse me, I'm
gonna clobber them other guys now!

The Gila Monster pushes Colleen aside and chases Shag, who runs all around
the compound whimpering.  Colleen runs to attack the Masked Melitta, but
she's just as skilled in the martial arts as Colleen is.  They fight each
other while Hunter and Huntress run at the Renegade.  In a flash,
Starlight fires blue rays at both of them and they slowly float upwards.
DJ and Exile grab bazookas and fires at the others, the shots bounce off
of their force fields.  Shag is still being pursued by the Gila Monster,
when the booming voice of the Master makes everyone stop and stand still.

MASTER (booming voice):  ROVERS, HEEL!   THESE ONES THAT YOU'RE FIGHTING
NOW ARE NOT THE ENEMY!   YOU'VE SUCCEED IN STOPPING THE THEFT OF NUCLEAR
WASTE, NOW STOP FIGHTING AT ONCE!

OTTO (looking up into the sky):  That voice!   Where is that voice coming
from?

SAMANTHA (returns to Otto's side):  I don't know, honey, but there's
something about that voice that's very comforting.....

HUNTER (shouting into the sky):  MASTER, IF THEY"RE NOT THE ENEMY, THEN
WHO ARE THEY?

MASTER (booming voice): THEY ARE FRIENDS!    RETURN TO HEADQUARTERS AT
ONCE!   COMPUTER RENEGADE!  YOU AND YOUR TEAM ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US!   IF
YOU ARE WHO I THINK YOU ARE, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO TRACE MY SIGNAL AND ARRIVE
HERE BEFORE MY ROVERS DO!

COLLEEN (looking confused):  What in the bloody world is he talking about?

C RENEGADE (smiling)  You'll see!   Otto, Starlight, have you got a fix on
....

STARLIGHT (smiling)  Of course I do, Renegade!   Gather around and I'll
teleport us there!

Otto, Samantha, and the Glia Monster walk over to where Starlight, the
Renegade and Melitta are standing, with a loud BOOM!!  all six of them
instantly disappear.   The anti-gravity rays begin to wear off and Hunter,
Huntress, Muzzle and Blitz gently return to the ground.

EXILE (shocked):  MOTHER RUSSIA!   THEY'RE GONE!!!

DJ (shocked):  That's some kinda high-tech stuff they're using!   Let's
get back to headquarters, I wanna meet those people!

HUNTER (smiling) Me too!  The police are here to arrest the bad guys,
let's hit the sky, Rovers!

The Rovers enter the Sky Rover and fly back to headquarters.   Waiting for
them there are the Computer Renegade and his friends.  They're all in the
briefing room as the Master stands before them.

MASTER:  Greetings, Rovers!   You're mission was a huge success, you're
good, good dogs!

BLITZ (interrupting)  Ya, but who are these people, and why did you let
them into our Headquarters?

MASTER:  They're here because I invited them here!   They also have vital
information on who is behind the nuclear waste thefts.  Please, each of
you, introduce yourselves to my Rovers!

C RENEGADE (stepping forward):  I'm the Computer Renegade!   My friends
and I are crimefighters, like you are!   I use an array of high tech
devices, I call them black boxes, to help me do it with!   You saw some of
what I can do with these in North Dakota, things like teleportation, force
fields, anti gravity rays, illusions, and so on.    Darling, do you want
to go next?

MELITTA (stepping forward):  I'm the Masked Melitta, and in real life I'm
the Renegade's wife.   I, too, carry the same black box devices that he
has.

COLLEEN (interrupting):  Hey, Melitta, did you make your costume yourself?

MELITTA (smiling)  Yes, I did, and you are .....

COLLEEN (walks up and shakes hands):  I'm Colleen, and I
abso-blooming-lootly love the design!   You've got to show me how you made
it!

MASTER (clears his throat):  Next, how about you, Otto?

OTTO (steps forward):  My name is Otto, until a few years ago, I was a
trained guard dog on a large estate.  When I was struck by a car, my
former master wanted to shoot me to put me out of my misery.  It was then
that an old man came and begged my former master to give me to him.   I
was in great pain, my body was shattered and I passed out.  When I awoke,
I was alive, this old man - his name is Uncle Buford -- had done surgery
on me, using bionic parts and implants that not only saved my life, but
improved me as well.  I became self aware, the computerized systems
implanted in my body inferfaced with my brain.  This wasn't supposed to
happen, but it did, and that's why I can think and talk!   Uncle Buford
also installed all of the Renegade's black box circuitry into my internal
systems, that's how I can fire laser beams out of my eyes, teleport, run
at super speed, things like that.

BLITZ (sarcastically) :  So you're just a robot, aren't you?

SAMANTHA (growling, shouting): My husband is NOT a robot!  He's real, and
I love him very much!

HUNTRESS (surprised):  Husband?

HUNTER (smiling):  I would not have predicted this!

SAMANTHA (sadly):  Sorry for that outburst, Mr Master, sir......

MASTER (smiling):  That's quite alright, now, tell us your story....

SAMANTHA:  Yes, sir.   My name is Samantha Maddog, and I'm the daughter of
Ben Maddog, the famous lawyer from Atlanta!

COLLEEN:  You're father, is a lawyer?

SAMANTHA:  Yes, ma'am, so are my other four sisters.   They all work at
dad's law firm.

HUNTER (startled):  Are they all dogs, like you?

SAMANTHA:  Yes, Hunter, sir, they are all collies.

EXILE (smiling)  Only in America, I LOVE this country!

SAMANTHA:  Anyway, after my first marriage ended, I fell in love with Otto
and married him.   I'm just an ordinary collie dog, nothing special....

HUNTRESS:  Then, how did you make that force field I ran into, and I know
you made me and Hunter float in the air...

SAMANTHA:  Well, ma'am, I'm wearing a special collar that Uncle Buford
gave me as a wedding present.   It has a lot of black box circuitry in it,
and I control it with my brainwaves.  My husband trained me on how to use
it, and I've been helping him and his master ever since!

HUNTER (happy):  WOW!  That's cool!  Can you let me try it out?

SAMANTHA:  Sorry, Hunter, but my collar operates using my brainwave
patterns.  I'm the only one who can activate it.

DJ (pointing):  And what about you, Starlight, is it?

STARLIGHT (smiling):  Yes, DJ, that's my name!   I was once a racing
horse, until the day a stable fire almost took my life.   I was badly
burned, nearly dead, my owner wanted me destroyed.   Uncle Buford came on
the scene and stopped him, he took me to his lab and fixed me up much the
same way he repaired Otto.   I also became self aware with my newly
computerized brain.  I was fully recovered to day I was presented to
Melitta as a wedding gift!   With all of my internal implants, I help
fight crime with my new owner!

MASTER (smiling): Amazing!   I must meet this Uncle Buford of yours,
prehaps we can share technologies!

BLITZ (pointing):  And what about the green guy?

GILA MONSTER (angry);  This green guy's gonna knock the daylights out of
you if you keep smartin me off, Kraut Prince!

COLLEEN (smiling)  I really like this bloak already!

GILA MONSTER:  My full name is the Computer Gila Monster, but y'all can
call me Gila!   I don't know where I came from, and I don't CARE!  All I
wants to do is whack bad guys with my 2 x 4 here, like this!

The Gila Monster slams his board onto the briefing room table, scaring
Blitz and Shag, who hide behind their chairs.

MASTER:   Now, Rovers, introduce yourselves to our new friends!

OTTO: Not neccessary, Master, I've already downloaded all their personnel
files from your central computer!

STARLIGHT:  Me too!    That's Hunter, and Hunteress, Muzzle, Blitz, Exile,
DJ .....

MASTER (smiling)  Amazing!

BLITZ (looks at Otto):  What does MY flie say, old buddy?

EXILE (laughs):  It says that you're a weird boy!

HUNTRESS (shakes her head):  Not THIS again!

MASTER:   Otto, I offer to you and your wife the chance to enter my
transdogmafier.   This is the device that turned all of these dogs
standing here before you into Cano-Sapiens, how would you like to be more
human-like?

SAMANTHA (sadly)  I don't know if I want to be more human, Mr Master,
sir....

OTTO:  You see, sir, it was a human who killed her mother in an auto
collision when she was a puppy.

MASTER:  Samantha, I'm sorry....

SAMANTHA:  Thank you for your concern, Mr Master, sir.....

OTTO:  I'm not sure if all of my bionic enhancements can survive the
trandogmafying process.  I'm scanning and analyizing your equipment now.

STARLIGHT (smiling) :  I've already completed a study of the device, Otto,
and the process will not damage your metalic implants nor affect the
internal functioning of any of your systems.   It'll be safe for you to
use that machine, if you want to.

OTTO (looking at the Renegade):  Renegade, do you want me and Samantha to
do this?

C RENEGADE (smiling):  Otto, you and Samantha are self-aware, it's up to
the two of you to decide if you want to enter that machine.

OTTO (looking at Samantha):  Well, honey, how about it?

SAMANTHA (smiling):  We both could be of more use to our hosts if we did
this, let's do it!

OTTO (smiling): I agree!

Samantha and Otto step into transdogmafier chambers, the smoke rises, and
each emerges as a Cano-Sapien

OTTO:  My internal diagnostic routine confirms that all of my systems are
intact and functioning

HUNTER (looking puzzled):  Ow........ yeah.   How do you feel, Samantha?

SAMANTHA (looking at her hands and body):  This is incredible!   This is a
great silver suit, too!

BLITZ (drooling):  WOW!!   You look even better than Colleen!

HUNTRESS (stomping Blitz on the foot): She's MARRIED!   Remember?

MASTER:  Rovers, the Computer Renegade tells me that the man behind these
nuclear waste thefts is known as the "Leader."

C RENEGADE:  That's right!  My friends and I have had many run-ins with
this person, he's dangerous and you can bet that whatever he wants with
all that nuclear material it's something we all had better work together
to stop!

BLITZ (sarcastically)  And how do YOU know so much about this Leader guy?

C RENEGADE (sadly)  Because until three years ago, I used to work for him.

HUNTER (surprised):  What?  No Way!!!

EXILE (angry):  You mean YOU were bad guyski?

C RENEGADE:  The Leader was small potatoes back then.   He only wanted to
rule over a small group of followers, but then he destroyed my marriage
and tried to ruin my life, but I escaped and with all of my devices, I've
dedicated my life to making up for all the wrong that I've done as one of
the Leader's men.

BLITZ (glaring at the Renegade):  Then how can WE trust you, you
Zorro-looking human?

MASTER (shouting): Blitz!  Enough!   I would not have invited him and his
friends here if I thought they were traitors.  I'm watched your team in
action on the news, that prison break in New York you stopped, that cruise
ship you saved in the Altantic, the forest fire your friends put out ....

DJ (smiling):  Oh YEAH!!   I've seen the news reports too!   So that's who
you guys are?  WOW!!

C RENEGADE:  Thank you all, but you Road Rovers have been doing a fine job
at battling evil yourselves!

OTTO (interrupting): If I may suggest, we'd better be formulating a plan
to stop the Leader.

STARLIGHT:  Correct!   I'm detectng a high concentration of radiation in a
remote location in Montana.   There's no military activity in that area,
so that could be where all the stolen nuclear waste is being kept.

MASTER (smiling)  Amazing!

OTTO:  Confirmed!  My sensors are detecting the same thing!

DJ (typing at a computer console):  It's true, Master!   Our Road Rover
satelitte is picking up that high level of radiation!

MASTER (loudly)  Rovers and guests, it's time to investigate our findings!
  Good luck to you all!

HUNTER:  Let's hit the road, Rovers!

All the Rovers howl, Otto and Samantha join in.
