Chapter 2

Liz was oblivious to the diners ar other tables staring at them in fascination. Tears were streaming down her face. Lucky was looking up expectantly at her.

"Yes. Lucky, oh, yes!" Liz cried. She leaned down and hugged him. Liz couldn't stop crying, she was so thrilled!

THey both became aware of the claps from the people around them. Lucky pulled back. He took the ring from the case and slipped it on ELizabeths finger. Through her tears Elizabeth could see the ring. It was a gold band with a small setting of diamonds in the shape of a heart. She pulled Lucky's head to her and kissed him. He deepened the kiss and she became lost in it. It was the discreet cough of their waiter that reminded them where they were.

Liz and Lucky sat back in their seats, embarrased. Lucky asked for their bill and then they went to get their coats. As Lucky helped Liz into her coat, all they could do was smile and stare at each other.

As Lucky paid the bill Liz kept grinning at him, she would lock her eyes on him and blush when he would catch her looking.

When they were out the door, away from scrutinous gazes, they couldn't stay away from each othere. Between kisses, all Liz could kepp saying was, "I love you Lucky."

AS soon as they pulled apart to catch their breath Lucky asked, "Are you sure?"

"Lucky," Liz replied kissing him again, "Do you have to ask? You just made me the happiest woman alive!"

"Hey Elizabeth?" Lucky started seriously, "You know even if we're married we don't have to ........ you know. I would never rush you into anything. I don't need sex to pledge my love to you forever."

"Lucky," Liz replied, laughing, "Our wedding night will be as memorable as any couples."

Lucky grinned and enveloped Liz in a tight embrace. Neither moved for awhile, content just being in each others arms. Soon both pulled away and Lucky flagged down a passing cab.

Back at the apartment the couple had already started writing wedding plans.

"So, where do you want the ceremony to be?" Lucky asked Liz as they sat cudded up on the couch.

"Lucky," Elizabeht told him, knowing her answer might not thrill him, "I want to be married in Port Charles."

To her surprise he accepted the suggestion, "I agree. Despite the family troubles I've ahd over the past couple years I want them there for the biggest day of my life."

"When do you think we should tell everyone?" Liz asked, "I can't wait to share the news."

"Let's call everyone tomorrow," Lucky said, "THey'll all be in bed by now."

"I think I'll ask Sarah to be my maid of honor," Liz told him. "Despite the troubles we've had, she is my sister, otherwise I would ask Emily."

"I understand," Lucky told her, putting his arm arouind her, "I guess I'll ask the Prince to be my best man."

"Lucky, first of all, Nickolas isn't really the Prince. Secondly, you know there's nobody you'd rather ask."

"You're right. Now let's get back to us. DId I tell you that you looked gorgeous tonight?" Lucky asked smiling down at her.

"Yes," Liz said, giggling, "But feel free to do it again."

Lucky started to kiss her and she forgot everything except the sensation of his lips on hers. A couple of yearrs ago she could never have imagined another man touching her. NOw she couldn't imagine not having Lucky touch her, Lucky deepened the kiss and Liz felt a thrill go through her. She ran her fingers through his hair. She never wanted to stop but she knew they should.

Liz pulled away with regret, "You know, I want to wait for our wedding night, but when you kiss me like that it's hard to remember why I want to wait."

"I'm sorry Elizabeth," Lucky sounded genuinely sorry but he was breathing hard.

"Don't you dare apologize. Trust me, you are the best kisser." Liz was just glad that she was the only one that knew that particular detail.

"Listen, it's late, I'm going to bed. Neither us have work tomorrow and you don't have classes so wht don't we call everyone with the good news together tomorrow?"

"Sure," Liz agreed, then added shyly as Lucky got up to got o his bedroom, "I love you so much Lucky, I don't know what I'd do without you."

"THe feeling's mutual!" Lucky said over his shoulder walking into the bedroom.

THe next morning Liz awoke to the smell of coffee brewing in the kitchen. She glanced over at her alarm clock, 11:30AM. How could she have slept so long? Liz pulled on her robe over ehr pyjamas and walked out of the bedroom.

"Morning sleepyhead," Lucky greeted her.

"How long have you been up?" Liz mumbled, not quite awake yet.

"Not much longer than you," he replied, "I got up a half an hour ago."

It took them 15 minutes to decide who to call first. THey finally settled on Liz's grandmother.

Audrey Hardy answered on the third ring, "Hello?"

"Hi Gram, it's me, Liz," Elizabeth couldn't wait to tell her.

"Elizabeth, what a pleasant surprise. How's New York?"

"It's great Gram, but that's not what I'm calling about. Lucky proposed to me last night, and I accepted." Liz was so thrilled, she just hoped her grandmother would wish them well.

"Taht's great dear! When is the wedding?" Audrey seemed genuinely glad to hear of their engagement.

"We haven't decided a specific date yet, but I was thinking this summer while school is out."

THey spent the reat of the conversation chatiing idly, then Audrey spoke to Lucky for a while.

After they'd hung up Lucky dialed his parents in Port Charles.

Laura picked up, "HEllo, Spencer residence."

"Mom, it's Lucky. Is dad there?"

"Yes he is Lucky. Do you want me to get him?" Laura asked.

"WEll I'd like to speak with both of you. Could you get him?"

Lucky waited patiently while LAura called Luke to the phone. When they were both on the line he began. "I just called you guys to let you in on some great news. Elizabeht and I are getting married," he told his parents.

"That's wonderful Lucky," LAura exclaimed, "We're going to love having Liz as a daughter-in-law. YOu both must be thrilled."

"That's great cowboy," Luke agreed.

"Well, we've decided to get married in Port Charles this summer. We'll come this weekend to start planning the wedding," Lucky smiled into the phone as he listened to her mother wish her congratulations then put Liz on the phone.

"Liz, I'm so happy. You'll be a great addition to this family!"

"Thanks MRs.Spencer," Liz repled self-consiously.

"Pleas, I can't have my daughter-in-law calling me Mrs.Spencer, call me LAura. Now you'll ahve to fly down this weekend to start planning. It's already April and in you want a July wedding we'll have to get busy." Laura sounded so excited.

"That souns great Laura, now if you don't mind, I'll say goodbye. We have a lot of phone calls to make."

"Allright, congrats again! Lulu isn't here but I'll tell her the good news when she gets back." Laura siad.

"Bye," Luke said as well and they hung up.

Lucky called Nickolas next. He waited on the line as a servant went to go fetch the young Mr.Cassadine. Nik was still living on Spoon island with Stefan. As soon as his true parentage had been revealed he decided to stay with his father for a while before moving out.

"Hello," Nickolas's voice came on.

"HEy Nikky, it's your brother Lucky. Remember me?"

"HOw's New York going? Emily and I miss you two." Nickolas and Emily had started dating soon after Lucky and Liz left.

"It's fine. Listen, I have a favor to ask of you."

Nik laughed, "THe great Lucky Spencer asking help from me? It must be serious!"

"Listen Prince. Even though you're not the best amn around I need someone to stand up beside me at the wedding so..." Lucky didn't want to further Nik's ego anymore.

"You're getting married? Of course I'll be your best man. Who are you getitng hitched too?"

"Elizabeth of course you blockhead! Your LAtin tutors forget to teach you common sense?" Despite his nonchalance, Lucky was thrilled Nik had agreed to be his best man.

"What was I thinking? ANyway, see you!"

THey both hung up.

Liz and Lucky finished their calls by noon, all except for Liz'as parents and sister Sarah who they couldn't reach in Europe.

They sat at a table in a cafe near there apartment. Neither Liz nor Lucky mentioned anymore about the wedding, they just talked about Liz's classes and Lucky's new album.
