Liz walked back into Lucky's hospital room. She had gone to call Audrey to come to the hospital. Liz needed Gram there for support.
"Did you get ahold of your grandmother Liz?" Laura sked form ehr seat beside Lucky's bed.
"Yeah, she's on her way over," Liz said wearily. THey had been here fro hours adn there was still no change in Lucky's condition.
Liz wished he owuld wake up so they could talk. Even if he wouldn't survive he deserved to know he was going to be a father.
Lulu's babysitter had driven her to the hospital. SHe was curled up, fast asleep, on Luke's lap. Her peaceful expression struck a chord in Elizabeht, she wished she was like Lulu adn could just curl up and go to sleep. Escape the problems and unpleasantness of life.
She brushed the hair from her face and sat down. Liz rested her head on her hand and closed her eyes. SHe willed herself not to fall asleep, she ahd to be aware when Lucky's conditoin changed. Soon enough, however, she ahd slipped into a solid slumber.
Lucky stood before her. They were in the apartment, but instead of the regular bed, there was a hospital bed. Another Lucky lay upon it, hooked up to gadgets. The one Lucky was looking over the form in the bed sadly, he was clad in a white suit. He turned his head to stare at Liz.
"Elizabeth," he murmered softly,"Elizabeth."
Liz heard a gurgling sound and looked down to find she held a baby girl in her hand.
Lucky looked at the baby and back to the figure on the bed. "Elizabeth," he said again.
Liz walked towards both Luckys. SHe held out the little girl to Lucky, trying to convince him to take it. He shook his head slightly, never changing expression. The baby became agitated adn started to bawl uncontrolably. Liz rocked it and cuddled it, but to no avail.
Lucky reached out a hand and stroked the baby's hair. The girl quieted instantly.
Liz tried to walk closer to Lucky but he faded whenever she tried to get near him. SHe felt a light kiss on her cheek, barely more than the feel of a breeze on the skin, adn Lucky didn't reappear anymore.
In shock, she turned to the Lucky on the bed, and stared at what she saw. His body was caving in. The baby was howling again, adn nothing would stop her. Lucky's body vaished in a cloud of dust. Liz reached with one hand towards it, but soon nohting remained.
She twirled around. trying to see if anyone else was there, but it had all turned to nothing. It was all darkness. It was silent except for the baby's cries.
"NO!" Liz screamed.
Elizabeth awaoke with a start. Someone was shaking her shoulder. SHe shook herslef completely awake to find Laura staring down at her.
"What is it?" she asked adn yawned.
Laura looked at her gravely,"I'm sorry Liz, it's more bad news."
