At Liz glanced the faces around her she was relieved to find they looked no more distressed than from when she left. Luke and Laura were actually fast asleep on the chairs in the corner.
Nik stod up when they entered
"SHH!" he whispered to Lulu,"Your Mommy and Daddy are sleeping."
Lulu giggled, "Can I go wake them up?"
"Not yet sweetheart," Liz whispered, "they must be very tired."
Lulu looked disappointed, but brightened up when Nik produced a stuffed animal from behind his back for her to play with.
"Bought it at the gift store downstairs," Nik explained quietly to Liz as they sat down.
"Nik? You know how you said if I needed anyhting to just ask. Well, I'm going to take advantage of you. I was wondering, could you help with funeral arrangements for Gram? I will be pretty busy phoning relatives and visiting Lucky."
"Sure Liz, no problem. You'll just have to help me with your preference on some details."
"You are a savior," Liz said gratefully.
"Again Liz, it's really no problem. I am happy to help you out."
"No word on Lucky yet?" Liz asked, glancing towards the doors.
"No, but it's only been an hour. THere's nothing to worry about Elizabeth, he is going to be fine." Nik said to reassure both her and himself.
"I hope so," Liz said,"It's just so easy to worry, I've been doing it for the past 2 months."
THey chatted idly for awhile, doing their best to not worry about the surgery that was taking place.
Liz glanced at her watch, "It's been 3 hours already, nothing better be wrong."
"I'm sure everyting is okay," Nik said.
Luke adn Laura were still fast asleep, the tension of the past while catching up to them. Lulu was curled up asleep to, Liz had set her beside her parents.
"I wish I could sleep too," Liz whispered,"but I have to be awake if there's any news. He has to live Nik, he ahs to le tme tell him..." her voice trailed off, realizing what she was about to say.
"Tell him what Liz?" Nik asked.
"It's not important, really," Liz insisted.
"Come Liz, you can tell me," Nik persisted.
She glanced back to make sure lucky's parents were still asleep, adn decided to confide in Nik,"I'm pregnant."
"Pregnant!" Nik exclaimed.
"SHHH!" Liz said as Luke stirrd in his sleep,"Nobody knows yet. Technically I've told both Gram and Lucky, but neither could hear me."
"How could you be pregnant?" Nik was shocked.
"Do you need me to explain the birds and the bees to you Nik?" Liz asked.
"You know what I mean Liz. First off, didn't you guys ahve condoms? And second, why were you guys even sleeping together? Especially after your rape adn all."
"I know Nik, the first time was right after we found out Lucky only had a really little time left. I just wanted to be with him, but we didn't have any protection." Liz remmebered that night clearly.
Nik ran his hands through his hair,"MAn, you two of all people. I just never thought you know?"
"I know, technically for awhile I didn't believe I could be pregnant either, but the truth has sunk in."
"Have you seen a doctor yet?" nik asked.
Liz shook her head,"I have an appointment with a geinicologist on Tuesday."
Liz continued, "Remember Nik, nobody know yet, and I want to keep it that way."
"I won't tell anyone," Nik assured her.
"THanks Nik," Liz said, "You're doing a lot for me lately."
Nik started to reply, but whatever he was about to say was interupted when Bobbie entered the waiting room.
