Liz stood outside the chapel in her wedding dress. It was the same little chapel she adn Lucky had pledged their eternal love in just the other year. THis was the same, except that now it would make it legal.
Lucky was inside the church, waiting for the ceremony to begin. Nik was his best man. Liz had already extracted a promise from Sarah to leave him alone.
Sarah was helping Liz fix her veil. Laura stood of to the side holding Audrey, she was nervous, "I think its all arranged. I sure hope so, there's no time left now to change anything. Oh dear, I hope Luke remembered to pick up hte wedding cake. I'm sure he did, I think. Don't you wory Liz, if he forgot, I can always whip somehting up."
Sarah laughed, "If you're trying to calm her down Luara....."
Laura shook her head, "I know, I'm sorry. Look at me, I'm more of a basketcase than you."
"It's fine Laura," Liz laughed, "I'm more nervous on the inside. Butterflies in my stomach and all."
Laura hugged Liz impulsively, hadning Audrey to Sarah and being careful not ot wreck her hair or the placement of the veil. "I'm still so gald you're going to be a Spencer Liz. My son couldn't have done better in his choice of a wife. I wish you all the happiness in the world."
Liz hugged her back, "I'm happy to be one of your family. I don't know about Lucky doing any better, but I know I couldn't have done any better."
Laura pulled away, wiping tears from her eyes, "Well, don't tell him that. he has enough of a swelled head as it is."
Liz took Audrey from Sarah's arms, "Hi sweetheart. You are going to sit with your Grandma LAura, okay? And I just have one request, just don't cry while we make our vows. You can howl after that, but not sooner."
She kissed Audrey's forhead and handed her back to Laura. "Tell them we'll ne ready right away."
Laura nodded, wished Liz lucky, and entered the chapel.
Sarah asked her, "You ready?"
Liz nodded, "As I'll ever be.
Liz added, "Thanks for coming Sarah, it means a lot to me to have my sister hear. It's nice to have at least one family membe here. I know waht it must have cost you to anger mom and ded."
Sarah smiled, "They will accept my decision to come eventually. Besides, no price was too great to see my little sister married. I'm honoured you asked me to be your bridesmaid."
Liz hugged her, "There's no one I'd rather ask, well, except maybe Emily, but she couldn't get away from her photo shoot."
Sarah laughed, "Thanks sis."
"Think nohting of it sis."
They laughed. It was great to be able to act like real sisters. To laugh togeher, to talk togehter. They had missed so much disliking each other all these years.
Sarah would be Liz's link to her past. There was nothing else. No family heirlooms passed down by her mother for her wedding day, no best wishes cards, no mother sobbing over her youngest daughters marriage.
Lucky and Audrey were her future though, and waht a future. How many people could find the love of their lives? What had she done to deserve someone as wonderful as him? By waht cosmic fate had she acquired such a beautiful daughter? What made her worthy.
Liz was nnot nervous about pledging herself to another person for her entire life, she ahd made that decision about Lucky a long time ago. She was nervous about their future. She knew she would love Lucky forever adn ever, but would he feel the same way in 10 years. He would meet other beautiful women over the years, and waht would bring him back to her?
They heard the strains of music dtart from the church.
"Good luck sis," Sarah whispered and opened the doors. She walked down the aisle to the strains of Pachelbels Canon, a beautiful peice of music Liz had insisted they use.
As Sarah took her place at the front of the church, a tape of a differe t piece of music was put on. Liz and Lucky had picked it out instead of the traditional wedding march.
Look into my eyes
You will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart
Search your soul
And when you find me there
you'll search no more
Liz started her walk down the aisle. She stepped slowly, one foot in front of the other.
Don't tell me it's not worth trying for
You can't tell me it's not worth dying for
You know it's true
Everything I do
I do it for you
Liz stared into the eyes of family and friends. Bobbie, who had helped her during the rape, her nad many others had come to the ceremony. Luke and Laura sat a few rows ahead with Lulu and Audrey. AS she passed by Luke smiled, Laura waved Audreys little hand, adn Lulu blew her a kiss. Liz blew one back.
Look into your heart
You will find
There's nothing there to hide
Take me as I am
Take my life
I would give it all
I would sacrifice
Nicklas stood up at the front, stunning in his tuxedo. Sarah stood on the other side. Both staring at her and smiling.
Don't tell me it's not worth fighting for
I can't help it there's nothing I want more
You know it's true
Everything I do
I do it for you
Lucky stood up there, waiting for her. She smiled at the sight of him. He was her home, her life, her love. They would survive together.
There's no love like your love
And no other could give more love
There's no way unless you're there
All the time all the way
Liz stood beside Lucky. He grasped her hands in his adn smiled lovingly. All her doubts vanished. This was forever, nothing would alter their mutual love.
You can't tell me it's not worth trying for
I can't help it there's nothing I want more
I would fight for you
I'd lie for you
Walk the world for you
I'd die for you
You know it's true
Everything I do
I do it for you
They smiled as the song closed. They turned to face the priest who was going to marry them.
"Dearly Beloved, we are gathred here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. Before we continue, does anyone present have reason these two should not be married? Say now, or forever hold your peace."
THe priest hesitated only a moment before continuing, "MArriage is a........."
A voice from the back of the church interrupted him, "I object!"
