Chapter One

The dinner had been going perfect. This had been a great idea. Liz laughed as she she forced a piece of brownie into Lucky's mouth. He smile at her and chewed it.

The situation struck Lucky as hilarious. This custom Em had introduced was ridiculous. Feed the first bite to your friend and you'll be friends forever? Sounded stupid but it was funny to watch Nik force the piece of brownie into Em's mouth.

Liz realized again how fortunate she was. Here she was with the love of her life and her 2 best friends. If someone had told her a year or two ago she would be sitting her with Nikolas Cassadine and Emily Bowen-Quartermaine she would have laughed in their faces. Now, next to Lucky, they were the people she trusted most in the world.

Nik spoke to Em, "Well, in regards to this friends forever thing, it should be pretty easy. You see, Liz and Lucky will always be together, plus Lucky and I will always be linked by blood, so all you hvae to do is stay friends with me and all of us will always be connected. That means you can't say you never want to see me again. Well, you can, but you can't mean it."

They laughed adn Em socked him in the shoulder.

Em was dying for Liz to tell her about the trip to New York, but it would have to wait. Nik was giving her a lift home soon. THey had all discussed the generalities of the trip, but Em wanted to ask her somehting of a more personal nature. Before Liz and Lucky had left for NY Liz had told Em she thought she was ready to go a step further with Lucky. Em wanted to know if anything had actually happened. Therefore, she was disappointed when Nik stood and siad they should be going. "I should get you home Em. We don't need to give your grandfather another reason to dislike me."

"Allright," Em agreed reluctantly.

They all stood up. "Sorry to leave so soon," Em apologized, "But Grandfather has been rather tempermental lately. The custody battle and all."

"It's fine Em," Liz assured her.

Lucky added, "It'd fine for you, but I think my brother here just wants to get out of doing the dishes."

Nik laughed, "That's it, of course. Thanks for the wonderful supper Liz."

Liz laughed, "Even though technically I didn't cook most of it."

"But the salad was really good," Em assured her.

Lucky laughed, "See you guys soon. Thanks for attending our little dinner party."

"It was fun," Em said, "I only wish it could alst longer." FOr some unexplicable reason she wanted to spend as much time with them as possible, but she just chalked it up to her reluctance to go home.

Liz and Lucky waved from the windows at Kelly's as Em and Nik took off in his Jag.

Lucky picked up a stack of dirty dishes adn carried them into the kitchen.

"Well at least I'll have one person helping with the dishes," Liz quipped.

"WHo said I was helping?" Lucky shouted from the kitchen,"I was just carrying them in here for you."

"Funny Lucky," she called, "But if you want company at breakfast tomorrow..."

"Alright," he called, 'Just don't get me all soaked like that other day before we left for NY."

AS Liz carried the dishes into teh kitchen, she remembered that day fondly. It was the first day tehy had really gotten passionate. Not that she regretted their decision to wait to sleep together, but Lucky did things to her nobody else could.

*******************************************************

Luke had stopped in briefly and had had a conversation with Lucky, who had told him about moving to Manhattan. Needless to say, there was the impression Luke wasn't thrilled, but he didn't protest.

Liz sat at teh counter sipping a glass of water. Lucky slipped a quarter into the juke box. He walked up to Liz adn held out his hand, "May I have this dance?"

Liz smiled andplaced her hand in his, "Of course Mr.Spencer." she hopped off hte stool.

As Lucky pulled her out into the empty space on teh floor, the song broke out on the juke box.

They read you Cinderella,
You hoped it would come true,
And one day a Prince Charming would come rescue you,
You like romantic movies, And you never will forget,
The way you felt when Romeo kissed Juliet.

Liz laid her head on Lucky's shoulder. She loved this song, it was so romantic.

And all this time that you’ve been waiting,
You don’t have to wait no more,
I can love you like that,
I would make you my world,
Move heaven and earth,
If you were my girl,
I would give you my heart,
Be all that you need,
Show you you’re everything that’s precious to me,
If you give me a chance,
I can love you like that,
(I can love you like that, I can love you like that)

Lucky loved teh way she felt in his arms, they fit together so perfectly.

I never make a promise,
I don’t intend to keep,
So when I say forever,
Forever’s what I mean,
Well I’m no Casanova,
But I swear this much is true,
I’ll be holding nothing back when it comes to you,
You dream of love that’s everlasting,
Well baby open up your eyes,

Liz closed her eyes and surrendered to the sensations of her skin on Lucky's shirt, his arms tight around her.

I can love you like that,
I would make you my world,
Move heaven and earth,
If you were my girl,
I would give you my heart,
Be all that you need,
Show you you’re everything that’s precious to me,
If you give me a chance,
I can love you like that,
(I can love you like that, I can love you like that)

If you want tenderness,
I got tenderness,
And I see through to the heart of you.
If you want a man,
Who can understand,
You don’t have to look very far,
I can love you,
I can love you love you,
I can love you like that,

Lucky lifted her head from his shoulder and lowered his lips to hers. The kisses weren't passionate, but tender. Conveying all the love he felt for her. Her lips were soft beneath his.

I would make you my world,
Move heaven and earth,
If you were my girl,
I would give you my heart,
Be all that you need,
Show you you’re everything that’s precious to me,
If you give me a chance,
I can love you like that,
If ya let me love ya,
You’re everything to me girl.

The song ended, but they stood there for awhile, just holding eahc other. Liz finally pulled away, "Come on Lucky, I don't want to anger Gram."

Lucky nodded, all flustered. "Just let me get my coat."

*******************************************************

The moon was shining above the roof of the house as Liz unlocked hte front door. "COme upstairs okay?" she whispered.

"Okay," Lucky nodded, "Just for a bit though."

The entered teh house softly, trying not to wake her grandmother. They nearly got away scot-free, but when they were about to enter her room they heard Audrey call out, "Is taht you Elizabeth?"

Liz motioned for Lucky to be quiet, "Yes it's me Gram."

"Did you have a nice time dear?"

"Yes Gram, it was fun. I'll tell you about it tomorrow though, I'm really tired."

"OKay dear, goodnight." Audrey called from her bedroom.

"Night Gram!"Liz replied, pulling Lucky into her room.

They were giggling as Liz shut the door behind them.

"That was close," Lucky grinned.

Liz shrugged, "Gram trusts us, it's just easier without her standing with her ear to teh door making sure nothing bad is going on."

Lucky laughed, "I'll see you tomorrow for a pretzel breakfast oaky?"

"Sure. Let's meet at 7:30 at Kelly's. I can't miss French tomorrow, or I'm dead, so don't stay up all night on the computer or anyhitng."

Lucky smiled and walked over to the window, "Au revior mademoiselle."

"You're going out the window?" Liz asked, surprised.

Lucky shrugged, "For old times sake."

"Remember to be on time," Liz admonished.

"I swear, I'll be there," Lucky said, "I'll go to bed as soon as I get home."

Liz leaned out teh window as Lucky was about to descend the roof. Before he began his decent however, she called out to him, "Lucky?"

He turned back around, "What?"

She smiled, "I love you."

He came back to the window, "I love you too sweetie."

He kissed her softly on the mouth. Lucky winked at her and began to climb down to teh ground. Liz just sighed and watched him go. For some reason she didn't feel happy. She ahd just have a great evening, but it felt like a bittersweet memory. She just shrugged it off, it must be her lack of sleep.

She slipped on a pair of pajamas adn padded down the hallway.

She splashed her face with water and stared at ehr reflection in the bathroom mirror. If she was honest with herself, she knew she hadn't wanted Lucky to leave. She wanted him to kiss her like they had in NY, and go farhter. She knew Lucky would never rush her, but she wanted to be with him so much.

As she crawled into bed, the phone beside her bed rang. She picked it up quickly before it could wake Gram.

"Hey Elizabeth," the voice on the other end said.

"Lucky?" she whispered, "you should be in bed."

"I know, but I called to say goodnight."

"Well, goodnight," Liz hissed, "Now go to sleep, you need to be on time in the morning."

"I'm lighting one of your candles rihgt now, it lights up the room just the way you do."

Liz smiled, "You really know how to flatter a girl, don't you? Light an extra one for me ok?"

She could hear a pause on the other side, "Okay, I just lit another one. Now, why are you keeping me up Liz? You know how early I ahve to wake up in the morning."

She laughed, "Goodnoght Lucky." and hung up.

She settled down in the bed, pulling the covers up to her chin. Liz soon sank into a deep, dream-filled sleep.

She dreamnt of all the times she had danced with Lucky. The time outside of Wyndymere, when he asked her to be his girl, their special VAlentines day. All of a sudden teh dream was interrupted by flashing a red light and sirens.

She flew up in bed. The sirens were real, the trucks were driving by her window. She took a deep breath to calm herself, but still had an unsettled feeling.

For some reason she was worried about Lucky. At the risk of having him sleep in in the morning, she decided to call him.

After she ahd dialed Lucky's number, she got teh operator, "We are sorry, but the number you have called is temperarily unavailable."

Liz frowned into the phone. What was going on? She got out of bed. SHe was probably just being paranoid, but she wanted to make sure Lucky was okay. SHe pulled some clothes form her closer, she was going to see waht was going on.
