Liz sat curled up in her bed, hugging her pillow. It had been 3 days since Lucky's memerial service. Life was hard without him here.
Every morning she had to deal with the fact that she wouldn't see him again. THere would be no more walks on hte docks, nobody to walk her home from working at Kelly's, nobody to confort her when she was scared.
She looked longingly towards the window, wanting Lucky to come through. It was just days ago he had kissed her and crawled out that very window. She walked over and ran her fingers over the window pane, wanting to feel Lucky. He had leaned across this very window and kissed her goodnight.
Liz sighed, it was time to go to work. She was returning to waitressing for the first time today. In a way it was more of an escape, this room and everything in it reminded her of Lucky. At least Kelly's was a little more neutral.
Liz fingered the necklace. It was her one last solid link to Lucky. It had symbolized all they had dreamed. Their plans to move to New York, their plans for a future all shot to hell.
She grabbed her jacket and left for work.

Lucky sat silently in his 'cell'. He couldn't bring himself to use any of the nice things scar-face had left in his room. His thoughts were filled with only one hting, ELizabeth. How she was feeling, how much he loved her, how he wold get back to her was all he cold think about.
His uneaten dinner sat on the stand beside the bed. Food meant nothing to him. Escape seemed impossible, he had considered all possibilities, but with no idea waht lay outside this room it wa hard to form a plan.
His head snapped up as the door opened. It was Scar-Face.
"What do you want?" Lucky snarled.
"Tsk, tsk Lucky. Is that anyway to talk to the man who holds your fate in his hands?" Scar-FAce taunted. "My men tell me you haven't been eating. I wish you wouldn't do this. The only person you're hurting is yourself."
Lucky scoffed at that, "Acutally I'm no good to you if I die of starvation."
"YOu're right. But waht good would starving yourself do? Besides Lucky, I'm sure you harbor some hopes of returning home."
Lucky had taken enough of Scar-Face's crap. Catching him unaware he grabbed the statuette beside the bed adn konked Scar-FAce on the head. He fell to the ground unconsious.
Lucky was shocked at waht he had just done, but was not about to waste this valuable opprotunity. For the past couple days Scar-FAce ahd not brought his customary guard along.
He slipped from the room. He looked both ways down the narrow hallway. Nobody was there. He sprinted from the room. As he turned the corner, he spotted a door.
He ahd no idea where it lead to, but it was better tahn waiting here for somebody to find him. He twisted teh doorknob, surprisingly it was not locked.
Lucky opened the door to find it lead outside. He was in the middle of a crowded street. It looked familiar though.
He turned back to the building he had just left. He wanted to see where he was being held. It was a tall three-story building. Seeing as though he had left from a back door, there was no signs to indicate waht type of building it was.
Lucky didn't really care though, all he wanted to do was notify his loved ones that he was alive!
He noticed a cafe across the street, he walked over to it, hoping they had a phone. It was French though. Lucky thanked his lucky stars he had took French as one of his classes.
He ran into the cafe, ignoring the galnces of people around him.
"Tu as un telephone?" he asked the server behind the counter.
"Oui," the man nodded, "Dans le derriere." he motioned to the back of the cafe.
"MErci boucoup," Lucky thanked the man, who jsut watched as Lucky ran towards the back, as if eh couldn't get there fast enough.

Liz exited Kelly's quietly. Tammy had a cold so she asked Liz to lock up. SHe locked the door into the diner and just stoood there, thinking.
She momentarily thought she woukld ahve to wait for Lucky, but then she remembered. He wasn't coming to walk her home, he was dead. Gone forever.
SHe shivered. It was cold outside. THe brisk winter/spring air chilled her through ehr coat.
She heard a voice call her anme, "Liz?"
"Nikolas?" she turned around, surprised to find him here, "What are you doing here?"
"I came to walk you home," he said. "I know I'm not Lucky, but I'd like to walk you home. I know waht you went through, it would be scary walking home alone."
Liz smiled gently, "Thank you Nikolas, I would like it if you would walk me home."
He offered her his arm, "Shall we?"
Liz smiled and took his arm, "We shall."
They walked in companionable silence for awhile. "How was work?" Nik finally asked to break the silence.
Liz shrugged, "It was fine. Tammy had to go lie down though, she had a horrible cold."
"Did you have to waitress all by yourself?"
Liz shook her head, "Nah, one of the other waitresses, Lisa, was there. So waht did you do today?"
"Well, Katherine sent me out on a photo shoot for Deception. Not a fun experience, but it's a job." Nik said.
They walked in silence until they reached Liz's house.
"Thanks for walking me home Nikolas," Liz said, "It was nice of you."
Nik waved it off, "Trust me Liz, it was my pleasure. Goodnight."
"Night Nikolas," Liz said.
Nik leaned over and kissed Liz on the cheek. It was perfectly innocent, but yet it bothered Liz immensely.
Liz turned to walk into the house. She noticed something sticking out of the mailbox. A letter. Liz grabbed it to take inside.
AS she locked the door behind her, she looked at the letter. It was probably just another bill for Gram. It was adressed to her though.
She looked at the return adress. New York Art Academy. SHe raised a trembling hand to her mouth. She didn't want to open it. Ever since Lucky had been gone, she had jsut assumed the Art school idea was gone.
She remembered the day she and Lucky ahd decided to go drop off the application in person. THey had been so full of hope, unaware of the future that actaully lay before tehm.
*Flashback*
Liz and Lucky are getting the package with Liz’s paintings ready to be mailed.
Lucky: This is impossible. There’s no way you can find the end of this roll(of tape).
Liz: Let me help. (Liz unrolls the tape) Here.
Lucky: Okay. You ready to seal the box?
Liz: Actually, um, the application isn’t finished and it has to go inside.
Lucky: What’s left to do?
Liz: Sign it.
Lucky: (he hands her a pen) Knock yourself out. (she hesitates) What? Are you having second thoughts, again?
Liz: I want this for both of us. But I just know that when we get to NY everything’s gonna change.
Lucky: You got that right and it’s only gonna get better. (she signs the application)
(next scene)
Lucky: Let’s get moving and we can make it to the post office before it closes. (He picks up the package)
Liz; No, wait! What if the package gets lost? I mean, what if it never makes it to the school? They’ll never know that I sent it and I won’t know that they didn’t get it. And they’re just gonna figure that I’m not interested...
Lucky: Elizabeth, that’s why they have insurance and certified mail. And...that’s why they have airplanes and trains and buses so we can deliver it to the school in person.
Liz: To Manhattan?
Lucky: Sure. Why not? I mean it’d give us a chance to check the place out.
Liz: You think we could really do that?
Lucky: Yeah! We can do anything. Except, maybe handle the airfare cause Nikolas won’t be springing for it this time.
Liz: I wouldn’t care if I had to walk all the way to NY just as long as I can be with you.
Lucky: Now, there is one drawback to the Manhattan trip.
Liz: Getting permission from Gram?
Lucky: Ok, there’s 2 drawbacks. You see, I was planning on celebrating mailing off the application package tonight.
Liz: Oh, well, we still can. We can celebrate in Manhattan and we can celebrate when we get back. Thanks to you my life is one special occasion after another.
Liz: What are you thinking?
Lucky: Ribs!
Liz: Uh! (she playfully smacks him) Again?!?! Ugh!
Lucky: What, are you thinking Chinese? It’s not my fault Eli’s is the best takeout ever! Of course if you want to whip something up on my hotplate don’t let me stop you.
Liz: Oh no, Eli’s is sounding better and better all the time. You know, when we get to NY we’re gonna have to find a rib place. And when we’re living there we might be so busy who knows if we’re gonna have time to cook. We’re gonna be able discover things that are just for us. Of course that’s assuming we can afford to eat. Do you know how expensive it’s supposed to be there?
Lucky: Don’t worry about the money, ok? I’ll come up with the cash. Even if we come up a little short, I think this will come in handy. (he shows her the token necklace around his neck)
Liz: Don’t you dare!!
Lucky: I’m just kidding! I could never part with this. You know that.
(next scene)
(Liz is feeding him)
Liz: You know, I know we’ll find a great place in NY that we’ll like. But it will never be as good as Eli’s.
Lucky: How do you know?
Liz: Because, Eli’s is where you taught me to like ribs. It was my first encounter with real barbeque sauce and cheese fries. Some things are so unique they can not be duplicated.
Lucky: So you’re saying we won’t be eating any ribs at all while we’re in NY???
Liz: No, nothing THAT extreme. I mean I wouldn’t want you to go through withdrawal or anything.
Lucky: No. So that’s top priority when we get to NY. Find a reasonable substitute for Eli’s.
Liz: With the understanding that it will never be quite as good.
Lucky: You never know. I mean, New York, there could be something better than Port Charles. Maybe the Chinese…the Italian! I mean you can get any kind of food 24-7.
Liz: Oooh, I can’t wait to live there! I heard the museums are supposed to be amazing.
Lucky: What about Broadway?
Liz: And the window shopping is supposed to be the best in New York. Everyone knows that.
Lucky: How do you know that?
Liz: It’s a girl thing.
Lucky: You know, I’m quite good at learning a new city. So, I could teach you to scope out a neighborhood, get the best deals, and find cool hangouts and meet new friends and make our own memories.
Liz: But, you know what, it sounds really wonderful…but let’s not get carried away. I mean, it all depends on whether I get into the art school or not. So, I’m not getting my hopes completely up until I know I’m in for sure.
Lucky: I know. You’re gonna get accepted.
Liz: I hope so. But if I don’t, I’ve learned something. I know that I definitely want to be an artist. You know when you were just talking about New York, you sounded so optimistic. That’s how I feel in front of a canvas.
Lucky: Well, that’s why you’re gonna get accepted. Painting isn’t just a hobby for you, it’s part of you. And you’ve got the talent to back it up, girl. (Liz laughs)
Liz: And I’ve got you. You make me feel like I can be good at anything I want.
Liz: And what I want more than anything...is to be with you.
Lucky: That’s good. Cause I want to be with you the rest of my life. That’s my plan you know.
Liz: Of course. Oh, but there is something else I really, really want.
Lucky: Name it.
Liz: Help with the dishes! (laughing)
(next scene)
(They are both at the sink washing and drying the dishes)
Lucky: I don’t care how many jobs I have to work in NY, we’re gonna eat out more often. Clean up duty’s a drag.
Liz: It could be worse.
Lucky: No way.
(Liz squirts him with the sink hose thingy ;)
Lucky: What was that for???!
Liz: Payback for splashing me in the park last week.
Lucky: OK, fine! But we’re even!
Liz: Not quite. ( she turns the water full force on him and then they start wrestling with it)
Liz: (laughing) I’m soaked!
Lucky: You know what, it’s ok. Cause I’m gonna dry you off. It’s only fair since I started this. It’s ok. There you go. (the sexual tension is building )
(they start kissing...into the next scene...still kissing :)
Lucky: Are you ok? (Liz nods) Are you sure?
Liz: Yeah, I’m fine. Are you ok?
Lucky: Yeah. I don’t wanna scare you.
Liz: You didn’t scare me...It’s getting late, I probably should go home.
Lucky: You’re right. It is getting late. (they kiss again)
Liz: I’d better go get my sweater.
Lucky: Ok. I don’t wanna tick your grandmother off, you know, give her a reason not to let you go to new york, so.
Liz: Yeah..right.
They hug again :)
Lucky: Let’s go.
*end flashback*
Liz absently fingered the necklace. She supposed she should open the letter. Not that it meant anyhting anymore. SHe hoped she hadn't been accepted, it would amek everything so much easier.
She quickly ripped the envelope open. She pulled out the letter and scanned it. Dear Ms.Webber.........blah,blah.....you've been accepted.
Tears ran down Liz's cheeks. She should be celebrating this news with Lucky. Planning to find an apartment and everything.
THe phone in the kitchen rang shrilly. Liz just wanted to let it ring, but whoever it was was very persistent. When it reached 7 rings, she went to answer it.
SHe picked up the phone, "Hello?"
"Ms.Webber, will you accept collect charges?" the operator person asked.
"Yes," Liz said, confused. Who could be calling her collect.
******************************************************
Lucky stood at the pay phone, he could see men leaving the building where he ahd been to look for him.
"COme on Liz, pick up!" he pleaded into the phone.
He heard the operator asking Liz about teh charges as the men entered the shop. They spoke to the man behind the counter who pointed to him.
AS tehy rushed him, Lucky heard his call be put through. "Hello?" she asked, "Who is this?"
"Elizabeth," he managed to get out before he was accosted by the men.
He tried to say something else, but they covered his mouth with their hands to prevent him from saying anyhting else. He screamed, but the sound was muffled by their hands over his mouth.
AS tehy dragged him away he could hear Elizabeth on the phone, "WHo is this? THis isn't funny, answer me."
*******************************************************
Liz hung up hte phone shakily. That phone call disturbed her. THe voice had sounded exactly like Lucky's to her. She must be going crazy.
This was ridiculous. Hearing her dead boyfriends voice on the telephone. She glanced att the accpetance letter she still held in her hand. The letter ahd just made ehr want Lcky back so mcuh she had imagine it. Yeah, taht was it.
*******************************************************
Lucky was back in his room. Scar-face stood before him, flanked by 3 bulky guards. Scar-face held an ice-pack on his head.
"Oh, did it hurt you?" Lucky said sarcastically.
"You little brat," he hissed, "You're fortunate I need you alive for now. You just about spoiled all our plans."
"THat was my intent," Lucky told him.
Scar-FAce grinned sinisterly, "I cant kill you, unfortuantely, but there are other people I can go after. Your little sister is a fairly easy target, as well as that Elizabeth."
Lucky went still, "You wouldnt."
Scar-FAce nodded, "Try me. Another fiasco like that and either your little sister or your girlfriend dies."
He motioned to his guards adn they left Lucky alone in his room. Lucky sat there. He would not likely see Elizabeth again.
His mother, father, brother, sister and love would never know he was alive. He would never risk their lives, even if it meant staying here forever.
As they had mourned his life, he mourned his past life. He had to accpet that they would move on, and his memort would fade over time.
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so tired but I can't sleep
Standin' on the edge of something much too deep
It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, but we can't be heard
But I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so afraid to love you, but more afraid to lose
Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Weep not for the memories
It was inevitable, Liz would let him go. He could never love anyone but her, but she thought he was gone. He prayed she would remember him and all that the two of them had shared in their short time together. She would find love again, and form a life that didn't include him>
