Chapter Twenty-Five

Liz felt ridiculous as they snuck through back alleys, trying to get to the harbour unnoticed by anyone. Clad in black, they blended into the night, but she glanced over her shoulder every second minute, trying to assure herself nobody noticed them.

Elizabeth slipped on the fence as they climbed over. She felt Lucky's reassuring hand boosting her up and she scrambled over. They all went behind a patch of bushes where they would be hidden from view form Helena's yacht.

"Everyone okay?" Laura hissed quietly.

Liz nodded, as did everyone else. Nik however, was obviously in pain, and from her position right next to him, she was the only one to hear his sharp intake of breath. She was about to suggest he stay here, but a look from him silenced her.

"Okay," Lukw whispered, "here's our basic plan."

He guestured to the boat, "Laura, Nikolas, Lucky, you will enter from the dock. See the little plank area that is actually underneath the dock? Well, that's where you'll come to the boat from. There is ladder down the side there, you go up that. Make sure the coast is clear, then climb onto the yacht. Find Helena, and secure her until we get to you."

"And how will you guys be getting on the yacht?" Lucky asked, glancing at Liz, who was starting to look green.

"From the water," Luke said grimly, "There is a makeshift ladder of ropes on the norht side of the boat. Liz, Felicia and I will swim around and get on that way."

There was a quiet explosion at his words.

"Swim!" Laura exclaimed, "Are you mad? At least let me swim and let Liz go with Nik and Lucky!"

Lucky was indignant, "And why shouldn't I go that way?"

"I am perfectly happy to swim," Nikolas interjected.

Luke peirced him with a withering look, "Dont be silly, you have a fractured arm."

Nik looked sheepish as Luke turned to Laura and Lucky, "And besides, if Nikolas needs help, you know you two are the best to help him. You've been in this tpe of situatio before, and know waht to do."

Felicia would ahve interuupted with the fact taht she too, ahd been in situaiton like this before, but kept her mouth shut. Anyone could see Luke was hesitant to put his wife and newly rediscovered child in any more danger than neccessary.

Liz realized this was well, adn turned to Lucky, "COme on Lucky, I can handle myself perfectly well in the water. I cna't however, carry Nikolas if need be. Plus, it's been many years, you may not remember how to swim that well." The last statemant was ridiculous adn she didn't know why she added it in.

Lucky nodded, "Fine, we go by land. But for God's sake, be careful."

"YOu too,"Liz said taking his hand. Truth be told, she wasn't looking forward to swimming through the icy cold water.

Lucky squeezed her hand, and looked at her. He smiled gently, seeming to read her mind. He nodded reassuringly.

Its amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you light up the dark.
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing.

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me.
There's a truth in your eyes, saying you'll never leave me.
A touch of your hand, says you'll catch me if ever I fall.
Now, you say it best when you say nothing at all.

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd.
Old Mr. Webster could never define,
What's being said between your heart and mine.

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me.
There's a truth in your eyes, saying you'll never leave me.
A touch of your hand, says you'll catch me if ever I fall.
Yeah, you say it best when you say nothing at all.

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me.
There's a truth in your eyes, saying you'll never leave me.
A touch of your hand, says you'll catch me if ever I fall.
Now, you say it best when you say nothing at all.

He stroked her face, and was gone. Him, Laura and Nikolas amde a mad dash to the dock.

Liz followed Luke an Felicia nervously as they raced to the edge of the dock area where the water began.

As she stared at the dark churning water, she felt her stomach sink, "You should have told me to bring a bathing suit," she quipped nervously.

Luke shook his head, "YOu couldn't carry one of these well in a bathing suit," he told her, shoving his gun in the zip up pockets of his jacket.

Liz glanced down at the gun in her hand, remembering she carried it. Oh God, she hoped she wouldn't have to use it. She wasn't sure she could shoot someone to kill. She shoved into her pockets though.

Liz was startled whne Luke jumped in suddenly, but she followed suit, Felicia right after her.

The freezing water was a shock to her senses. She gasped as she came to the surface. Her clothes and shoes weighed her down, and she could barely swim at half her normal speed.

The swim seemed to be nearly a mile to the other side of the yacht, although it was only in truth about half of that distance. It seemed hours later as Luke grabbed on the netting they were to use as a ladder.

He motioned Felicia up first, "Go check it out, and for god's sake, be quiet."

Felicia nodded, and climbed her way up the mass of ropes. She pause near the top and peaked over the edge of the boat. Since there was nobody in sight, she hopped over the edge and motioned to tehm to come on up.

"YOu're next sweetheart," Luke whispered to Liz, and boosted her up.

Her wet clothes saged on her as Liz struggled up the netting. It took every bit of her strength to pull herself up inch by inch. When she reached the top, Felicia pulled her voer, and she collasped on the deck. Luke followed soon after and motioned to them to be silent and follow him.

All of a sudden, Felicia and her were ebing shoved by Luke into a small doorway. NOt questioning his motives, Felicia pressed herself falt agaisnt the wall, as did Luke. Liz did the same.

Liz nealry gasped as a man carrying a gun passed the doorway where they were standing. One of Helena's gaurds.

Felicia stuck her head out to heck, and saw nobody was there, "Let's go."

They tiptoed on the deck, not quite sure where to go.

Someone grabbed Liz's arm and puled her into a room of the deck. She was about to let out a bloodcurdling scream, but it was muffled by a hand.

"It's me Elizabeth," the man who grabbed her whispered in her ear.

He released her and she turned aorund, "Nikolas, you nearly gave me a heart attack."

Helena was seated in a chair in what was obviously her bedroom. Lucky stood on one side of her, with his gun to ehr head, Laura on the other, at a small distance, her gun drawn.

Luke and Felicia had followed, "Good job," Luke said to his wife and son appreciatively. "I see you got the bitch easily."

THey nodded. Luke walked up to her adn calmly struck her across the face.

Helena put her hadn to her cut lip, "Really Luke, I expected you to be more civilized about this."

"Civilized?" Luke laughed eerily, "That's a laugh. "Let's see, you kidnapped my son, mad everyone think he was dead, kept him captive for four years and never said a word about it. Does that cover it all??"

"Not quite," Helena said maliciously, "There is something else."

"And waht would that be?" Luke snarled in her face.

"Really Helena, you could have at least waited to start the games until I got here," a voice behind them said.

Everyone spun around to identify the speaker.

"I thought you'd never get here," Helena said happily.
