Chapter 1
, A mysterious figure seems to glide down the worn path to Professor Oak's lab. A hand reaches out & opens the door. "Professor Oak?" The figure asks into the dark lab. "I'm in here!" Comes the professors reply. The figure strides down the long hall, his black cloak billowing behindhim. He steps into the small office. "Ah, I've been expecting you." Oak ssays to him. "I have a favor to ask you Professor." He stops walking & stands in the door. "Yes?" Oak asks. "You hand out the pokemon tomorrow right?" He asks. "Why, yes... Yes I do." The figure unclipsa small item from his belt. "Give these to the last person in the door." He opens the bag to reveal several small Black & red Items. "They will help him on his journey." He turns to leave, then stops & says, overhis shoulder, "Thank you, May." & then glides too the door. "Wait!" She shouts, racing too the door. She opens it to a flash of bright light & heat. When it dissipates, all that is left is a large burned patch of grass in front of her. "Weird." She says, then walks back inside. In Which We Meet Our Hero. "BBBRRRRRRIIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!!" "YAAAAAHHHHH" Ares Shoots up out of his bed & hits his alarm clock with a baseball bat. "Huh, wha?" He says, sleepily. "What time is it?" He asks. Stares at the last reading his clock gave. "Oh shoot! 6:00! I have to be at Pro. Oak's lab by 7:00, I'll never make it!" He shouts as he pulls on his clothes* &races downstairs. "Ares, sit down & have some breakfast." His mom said as he raced to the door. "Can't mom, I'm gonna be late!" He slams the door behind him. "I'm late, late late." He says as he hops on his jetski & turned the key. "Gotta go go go." He says as he takes off from hishome on Cinnabar Island.*undeniably red & blackIn Which,Ares is the last one there. "Hey, watch it buddy!" A fisherman shouts out as the jet spray hits his face. "Sorry!" Ares pulls into the dock at Pallet town. "I might make it after all!" He shouts. "Hiya, Ares." Ares swirls around to see his best friend, Darien facing him. "I take it by your messed up hair & untied shoes you haven't gotten your pokemon yet." Darien comments. " Yeah, D, & I'm in a bit of a hurry." Ares starts off again. "Don't rush yourself, it's over, Ares." Ares stops. "Well, then, I suppose I will just be wasting my time trying to get a pokemon right?" Darien nods. "Oh, well." Ares shouts & runs off. "That kid is thick as a brick." Darien says as he walks away, twirling a pokeball. "Prof. Oak, It's me, Ares!" Ares says as he bursts through the door. "Ares, I thought you wouldn't make it." May says as she looks out the door. "Your the last one huh?" She asks. Ares nods. "My friend says so." May walks over to her desk where a bag is sitting. "Someone told me to give this to the last person in the door. Here you go." Ares takes the bag & opens it. He reaches inside & pulls out an object. "A black & red pokeball? That's new." He reaches in again. "And a black& red Pokedex?" He says, holding the ball & the pokedex. Suddenly the ball begins to move. "Huh?" The Pokeball popped open. "Char! Tini!" The pokemon said. "Char?" Ares said. "Tini?" May said. Ares popped open the pokedex. "What is that. the pokedex scanned the tinycreature. "Chartini, a fire/dragon pokemon said to be related to the Chamander & Dratini. Beware of fins on it's head, they generate intense heat." Ares looked at the tiny pokemon. It looked like a purple charmander withblue fins. "The man who gave these to me never said anything about a pokemon. He did say that these will help you on your journey." Ares held out the pokeball. "umm, Chartini return?" Chartini turned tohim. "Char? Tini? Chartini?" It stared at him. Then leapt at him. "Chartini." Ares almost jumped back, but the pokemon grabbed him around the neck & nuzzled him. " I think it likes you." May said. Ares was breaking into a cold sweat trying to keep from touching the fins on it's head. "Uhh, sure, whatever you say Prof. Chartini, return." The pokemon leapt into the pokeball. "Whew. That was creepy." May giggled & said, "Right, now go catch some pokemon."
