I decided that my pokemon section will be dedicated to the rarest pokemon in the game. Now if you've read the manual you probaly are wondering about the rare pokemon that only appear once in the game. Don't get yourself in a panic wondering which ones are rare and which ones aren't. There is a very easy way to determine if the pokemon is rare or not. All you have to do is make sure the pokemon could not be seen on the map. For instance snorlax was one of the rare pokemon because he appeared on the map. Don't worry if you missed him he appears once more so be ready. If you killed a rare pokemon don't worry just turn the game off without saving and the pokemon will return. Also I would suggest saving in front of the rare pokemon for an unlimited number of tries to catch it. If your wondering what the rare pokemon they are missingno(click for more info) bulbasaur,charmander,squirtle(I know those are the first pokemon but they only appear once in the game and nobody likes trading there original pokemon)articuno, zapados, moltres and mewto. Mew is rare but no one has ever found him I am curently looking into the issue and will get back to you. Many say that dragonair is rare but you can get the enevoled form at the gamecorner so don't worry about that. The 3 bird pokemon can be found in the sea foam islands, Victory road and the abandoned power plant and Mewto can be found in the game by Bill house that the guy won't let you in to(you need to beat the game first.) If you are going to catch these rare pokemon I suggest having a pokemon with sleep powder and lot's of ultra balls. When catching mewto use the master ball he is the hardest one to catch. I have all of the rare pokemon (except for mew) and they aren't any better than the ones you can catch all they do is come at a high level. If you have any more questions on the issue email me.
