MEG/BEN/MARIA FROM THE BEGINNING:

As Sunset Beach's resident supercouple, Meg and Ben share a romance like no other on the show. It all began over the internet between cyberpals named "SB" and "Dorothy". Ben was a lonely soul finding solace in the sincere kindness of stranger Meg Cummings. Little did they know that this friendship would turn out to be the love of their life. Meg was on the verge of marrying her longtime sweetheart Tim Truman when she discovered he had been having an affair with her Maid of Honor. At that moment, Meg decided to follow her heart and hop a plane to Sunset Beach to find her true love "SB".

Meg moved to Sunset Beach and became a prominent resident making many friends and finding good jobs. But it was a long journey to find "SB". Little did Meg know that she had been working for him all along. He was her boss, Ben Evans! When she discovered the truth she didn't tell him right away, she wanted to see if he could love her without knowing who she was, but as always the truth does come out in the end. When Ben finally found out who Meg was he pushed her away fearing his past would come back to haunt him, and it has!

Ben had previously been married to Maria Torres, who mysteriously died in a boating accident. Many in town believed that Ben was responsible for her death. Ben feared being involved with someone new.

Maria wasn't the only obstacle Meg and Ben faced. Tim Truman, who was Meg's ex-fiance, decided he didn't want to lose Meg and followed her to Sunset Beach. He teamed up with Ben's neighbor Annie, who loved Ben and would do anything for him. Together they plotted to make sure Meg and Ben didn't get together. Their plots, however, were what brought them together. From a cave-in where Ben and Meg first made love, to hypnotizing Ben to call Meg 'Maria', Annie and Tim's plots seemed to be working... they even drove Meg back to Kansas with Tim in tow! But Ben eventually caught on and went to Kansas to profess his undying love for Meg and bring her back to Sunset Beach.

Meg did come home, and Ben did propose to her. They were happily planning on wedding, but trouble wasn't far behind again. New Year's Eve came and Meg and all her friends threw a party on Meg's island (Ben bought her for Christmas). Thats when the TERROR began. A masked murderer was running around the island killing people. One of the victims was Meg's best friend Mark Wolper. During Mark's struggle with the killer, he was able to take his mask off to reveal... Ben! It would seem to most that Ben Evans was the terror island killer, but Sunset Beach has now revealed that it was actually his twin brother, Derek. The terror continued for Meg and Ben in May, when Derek kidnapped the real Ben and had him hidden away in a secret warehouse while Derek pretended to Meg and the rest of Sunset Beach, to be Ben. Finally, the Derek was revealed and is presumed dead after he went over a cliff during a confrontation with Ben. Finally, Meg and Ben could put everything behind them and begin again. They were free to be together. Or were they? As Meg and Ben began planning their wedding, more turmoil was on the way!

MARIA RETURNS FROM THE DEAD:

As Meg and Ben started planning their honeymoon, Meg met a woman at Cedar Oaks who had amnesia. Being the person that Meg is, she befriend this shattered person and the two became close. Tim and Annie discovered that Meg's new friend "Dana" was actually Maria (Ben's late wife). They plotted to use this information to ruin Meg and Ben's nuptials and it worked, sort of! Meg and Ben did tie the knot and even made it to their reception as a happy couple. But as Meg threw her bouquet, Dana... really Maria caught it, stunning the entire reception!
