At this year's Emmys, the buzz was swirling around Cristi Ellen Harris (Emily), citing her as a future breakout star. "I'm not sure about that, but I'm having a fabuous time here," reports the newcomer. Harris is slated to be Sean's new love interest, as they both vie for the one available lifeguard position. "Emily is a strong character, which attracted me to the part. Plus, I'm so lucky to be working with this cast, because Randy (Spelling, Sean) is such a great guy."

Cristi Ellen Harris (Emily) was born in Georgia on Dec. 3. Growing up, she lived in various states, including Hawaii, California, New York, Illinois, and Colorado.

She originally auditioned for the role of Sara (which went to Shawn Batten). Her screen test was with onscreen love interest Randy Spelling (Sean). According to Harris, Emily is "very together, and goes after what she wants. She is determined to make it without losing her morals and values, though." Harris is a natural blonde. Since Emily is a brunette, what is Harris' reaction to her changed hair color? "I always seem to play either ditzy or bitchy whenever I'm a blonde, so I'm looking forward to being taken a little more seriously as a brunette."

Harris recalls her debut scene, in which Emily was running on the beach in a bathing suit and bumped into Sean. "That was nerve-wracking because I hadn't been to the gym in a while. I've been every day since, though."

A fan of Audrey Hepburn, Harris came to New York to pursue modeling. Not being quite tall enough, she turned to acting and studied in HB Studios in New York, as well as Playhouse West in Los Angeles.

Aside from Sunset, Harris has appeared on Growing Pains and Full House, as well as in commercials and a few movies, like 'Rescue Me' with Stephen Doff." Harris also landed the lead role in a yet-to-be-titled horror fim. Sounds like good practice if Emily ever comes across the "Terror Island" killer.

In her free time, she works out, goes to the movies, spends time with her family, and rollerblades.
