SEAN KANAN
Character: Jude Cavanaugh

Sean Kanan plays "Jude Cavanaugh," a rich and mysterious playboy with a dubious past and a passion for only the best on SUNSET BEACH, the first daytime drama from executive producer Aaron Spelling on the NBC network. Kanan grew up in New Castle, PA, not far from the Amish communities. He avoided the stage in high school and instead tried his hand on stage at local comedy clubs. Eventually Kanan performed in such venues as The Comedy Store, The Improv, Dangerfield's, Catch a Rising Star, and The Funny Bone.

While a political science major at Boston University, he took extra-curricular acting classes and sought work on locally filmed television shows; he landed his first role in an episode of "Spenser for Hire." That taste was enough for Kanan, he transferred to UCLA and pursued acting full time. Kanan accumulated numerous credits including guest appearances on "Who's The Boss," "Step By Step," MTV's "Dead at 21," the Oliver Stone mini-series "Wild Palms" opposite Jim Belushi and Angie Dickinson, and, most recently Fran Drescher's 'younger man' on "The Nanny."

Kanan worked with the late Raymond Burr in two Perry Mason television movies, "The Case of the Maligned Mobster" and "The Case of the Killer Kiss." He recently completed work on two independent feature films and is in the process of producing a film from his original script. Kanan is perhaps best known from his breakout role as Ralph Macchio's nemesis in "Karate Kid III." No stranger to daytime television, Kanan is well recognized as the wealthy "AJ Quartermaine" on ABC's award winning General Hospital.

Kanan now claims the stage, which he shunned in younger years, as his venue of choice. He debut put him in the Los Angeles production of Irish Coffee at The Burbage Theater and he recently plalyed "Austin" in the Sam Shepard classicTrue West at The Zephyr Theater, also in Los Angeles. He starred and produced the latter.

Kanan enjoys honing his martial arts skills and writing poetry, plays and screenplays. He lives in Los Angeles and married his girlfriend this past September. His birthday is November 2. - From NBC Daytime
