"I have never met such a dedicated group of fans
in my life..."
-Caitlin Richards
It was one of the most excited days of my life, going to the 1st Ever Caitlin Festival, I got there around 6:00am it was a cold windy morning in Sunset Beach, but I knew as soon as the day would go on things would start to sizzle. I walked along the beach for a little while, and saw Casey and Michael chatting at the lifegaurd tower, I was going to go over there and start a conversation with them, but they looked pretty busy eating their sandwiches so I just walked away.
Then I decided to stop by at The Java Web, to check my email, I was hoping so bad that when I would walk through the door that our good old pal Mark Wolper would help me out, but instead the place was filled strangers. I then advanced to Terminal 5 and logged onto the internet, I couldn't help noticing that over in the other side of the building, someone was having computer problems, I walked over and to my amazement I saw Sunset Beach's very own Jimmy Harrison.
He needed some help on his homework, but he couldn't figure out how to get pass the main menu screen, so I gave him some few tips and walked away, I glanced down at my watched and discovered it was 7:00am, the Caitlin Festival was beginning in 30 minutes, so I quickly ran out the front door and headed towards Grenadines, the home of the 1st Ever Caitlin Festival.
I hung around with some fans for a little while, and we talked about our favorite Caitlin moments, when suddenly the lights dimmed and a large tv monitor came down from the ceiling and filled the room, everyone grew silent as the screen flickered on and there we saw a still photo of our pal Caitlin Richards.
It turned out to be a slideshow, of all the greatest Caitlin moments, and after about 45 minutes of seeing some fantastic slides, Caitlin's very own brother Sean Richards came out and said a few words. He was then later followed by Olivia, Bette, Cole, Annie and Gregory, who was hissed off the stage for trying to steal Caitlin's baby.
Then they played a 3 minutes clip of Caitlin's "Pillow" that she wore in the last few months of her "pregnancy", then the moment arrived, smoke filled the room and the laser lit their lights on the stage and out came Caitlin Richards, looking so charming as the lights glittered off her dress. She walked to the center of the room and stuck out her hand and waved to everyone.
She gave a unforgetable speech that lasted about 45 minutes, then she answered some questions from the audience, and then she auctioned off some of her belongings. But that wasn't all, she sat down at a table in the corner and she started signing autographs, it was a moment I will never forget.
Truly this was one of the best days of my life, and I really hope to come back next year, thats if they do it, even though it probably won't end up being the Caitlin we knew and loved for more than a year, it will be the new, fresh Caitlin, but let's hope next year that our once Caitlin will get a special guest appearance, because she is truly the queen of daytime.
Special dedications to Spike The Dog, who couldn't attend the festival because he was getting a rabies vaccination....
