Free part twenty three
K, everything from now on (the Island), would normally take place in November, instead of February. Unfortunately, when I started the story, I forgot that. Please excuse my consistency. Thank you, Mgmt.

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try and keep your head up to the sky
Lovers, they may cause you tears
Go ahead release your fears
Stand up and be counted
Don't be ashamed to cry
You gotta be
You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day
Herald what your mother said
Readin' the books your father read
Try to solve the puzzles in your own sweet time
Some may have more cash than you
Others take a different view my oh my heh, hey..(repeat l)
Don't ask no questions, it goes on without you
Leaving you behind if you can't stand the pace
The world keeps on spinning
You can't stop it, if you try to
This time it's danger staring you in the face
oh oh oh

The airport terminal was packed. Thankfully, the courier service had ordered the tickets in advance, and there was no waiting for Lucky and Elizabeth. They were running a little late though, so they ran through the crowded lobbies, hanging on to each other by the hand. Just when Liz thought she would faint from oxygen deprivation, Lucky pulled up short and Liz ran full into him.
"Oof!" was their synonymous grunt. Lucky didn't wait for an apology, he walked the few feet to the airline hostess and handed her the tickets. She accepted them, looked at them, tore them in half and handed Lucky the parts she didn't want. He stuffed them in his pocket and entered the tunnel that would take them to the small plane that would take them to their destination. Liz followed, still panting.
When they reached the plane, a flight attendant in a dark blue blazer and skirt greeted them with a smile.
"Hello," she said. Her smile sparkled like a Crest commercial. Liz bit her lip to keep from laughing.
Lucky nodded to the woman and she pointed to two seats halfway back in the plane. The plane was so little it only had two rows of seats, with two seats in each row. A tiny aisle split them in the center. Lucky took his seat on the aisle, leaving Liz to crawl over his legs to get to her seat. She thought back to a similar situation and flushed lightly. Lucky grinned evilly at her, a mischievous light in his eyes. Liz swatted his shoulder and plopped down in her seat.
The plane took off minutes later without a hitch. Liz held her breath until they were safely in the air. Lucky touched her hand, which rested on the teeny armrest. She clutched the piece of plastic so hard, her knuckles were white.
"You ok?"
"I'm fine," Liz said, trying to find a smile. She was having a hard time breathing.
"Liz..."
"Ok, so I forgot I have this itty bitty fear of flying."
"You're afraid of flying?"
"Well, more like falling, but you know, they kind of go hand in hand."
Lucky patted Liz's hand. "I won't let you get hurt."
"Yeah, but the plane might."
"Nah, they won't let anybody fly one of these things unless they're certified."
"So?"
"Different tactic." Lucky reached up and brushed his fingertips across Liz's face until he got to her eyes. He rubbed downward, making Liz close her beautiful blue eyes. "Do you trust me?"
Liz breathed deeply. "You know I do."
"Then don't think about the plane ride. Think about...where we're going! Christmas Island, Australia. Sounds exotic, don't you think?"
"Mm hmm," Liz agreed. She was getting shivers from the way Lucky was playing with her face and hair.
"And when we get there, we're gonna play all day, and party all night."
"After I deliver our package."
"Right."
Lucky's voice soothed her until she was fast asleep. He smiled at her limp form, straightening her out a little and retrieving a pillow from above. He settled in for a long ride.
