Rae

Co-Winner, August Award for Best P&J Fanfic

Summary

This fabulously well-written and romantic series explores the past lives of Pacey, Joey, Dawson, Jen, and other residents of Capeside. It switches back and forth between 1998 and 1958, drawing parallels between the gang's lives and those of Nina, Ben, Stu, and Max.

Hobbies/Interests: Writing fanfiction, obsessing about all things "Dawson's Creek" and Kevin Williamson

Favorite character and why: Pacey. No contest. Killer sense of humor, extremely witty, intelligent, not afraid to say what's on his mind. And it doesn't hurt that he's pretty damn cute... ;)

Character you most identify with and why: Pacey again. =) The exact same sense of humor. It's eerie; one time, I cracked this joke in class and a few days later, I hear it coming out of his mouth on the show. Of course, maybe I shouldn't have said the joke with my teacher within earshot... ::shrugs sheepishly:: Oops. Also, he has that insecurity we all have about ourselves, that we'll never be good enough. How can you *not* relate to the guy?

Favorite possible storyline: If you've read any of my fanfic, you know that I've been rooting for Pacey and Joey to get together since Day One. =)

Why did you write this series? What did you hope to accomplish? I wanted to share my imagination and my hopes for the show creatively. =) And also create my own little warped version of Capeside. ;)

Thoughts on:

James -- Seems like a very sweet, sincere person. There's also this awkwardness and slight dorkiness that makes him adorable and hard to dislike. =)
Katie -- Also seems very sweet and sincere. There's also something very innocent and fresh about her... must be the all-girl Catholic school. =)
Michelle -- Intelligent, definitely an "old soul." You can also tell that she's very honest and means things when she says them.
Josh -- Intelligent, charming, witty. The ultimate Gemini. =) The DC cast member with the most entertaining interviews.
Kevin -- The spokesperson of our generation, the John Hughes of the 90's, the newly-crowned King of the Teen Scene, my inspiration, my personal "Spielberg." =) Need I say more?

Thoughts on:

Dawson -- Tragically nice, a bit naive and insecure. Very ambitious... "Most Likely to Succeed."
Joey -- Analyzes everything, very cynical. Also very ambitious... "Most Likely to Get Well-deserved Revenge at the Reunion for Succeeding."
Pacey -- Just like that one guy who plays him, he's intelligent, charming, and witty. Not lazy, just lacks self-esteem and has given up on himself. An amatuer philosopher. "Class Clown."
Jen -- Wise beyond her years. Misunderstood. "Most Likely Not to Show Up at the Reunion."

Thoughts on this award: Very cool. =)

Thank yous: Kevin Williamson. Without him, none of this would have been possible. Literally. To my "editor" Eunice and my "fan club president" ;) Cecilia. All the Creekers, namely the "pajos" (Pacey-Joey romantics), who read the series and actually found it moderately enjoyable =) ...and for telling me so; the support in form of compliments encouraged me to keep writing, and still does. =)

Readers' Thoughts

really liked the Once in a Lifetime series by Rae. I liked how Rae incorporated both the set of characters from the 90's and the set of characters from the 50's and made them feel the same emotions. It just goes to show that although many things have changed over the last 4 decades, Love is one constant in our lives. -Melanie C.
