The hall outside of Adam’s hospital room.
Liza sits in the waiting area.
Marian comes from the elevators.
Marian: Liza?
Liza: Hi.
Marian: Liza, what are you doing out here? Where’s Stuart? How’s Adam?
Liza stares straight ahead.
Liza: Stuart’s inside with Adam. Adam is awake. Things are a little strange.
Marian sits down next to Liza.
Marian: Strange? What do you mean, darling?
Liza looks at Marian.
Liza: Retrograde amnesia, Mother. Adam doesn’t remember the past two years. He doesn’t want me anywhere near him.
Marian: But that’s ridiculous.
Liza: No, Mother, it’s not ridiculous, it’s painful.
Marian: Well, of course. That’s what I meant.
Marian puts her hand on Liza’s arm.
Liza smiles weakly at Marian.
Liza: My world. Welcome to it.
Marian: Liza?
Liza: Hmmm?
Marian: What about Colby, darling? Have you heard anything from Jake?
Liza: Jake is missing. Trevor is trying to track him down.
Marian: Well, we should be doing more.
Liza: We?
Marian: Well, yes, darling, I’m part of this too.
Liza: Mother, I have asked you to stay out of this. You haven’t done anything, have you? Have you?
Marian: Of course not. I promised to keep out of it, didn’t I?
Liza: Yes. Yes, you did. And I’m trusting you to keep your word.
Marian shifts her eyes away.

Adam’s hospital room.
Hayley and Stuart are with Adam. The nurse looks on.
Stuart: You had us really worried there, Adam.
Adam: Nonsense. I’m too mean to ever be really hurt.
Stuart smiles.
Adam: Hayley? How about you?
Hayley: What?
Adam: How are you? Where’s Mateo?
Hayley: Mateo’s not here right now.
Adam: Well, I can see that. Where is he?
Hayley: I really don’t want to talk about it.
Adam: Why? Has he done something?
Hayley: I have to go.
Adam: Hayley?
Hayley turns to Stuart.
Hayley: I’ll be back later. I have to go.
Hayley leaves the room.
Adam: What did I say?
Stuart shrugs his shoulders.

The hallway outside of Adam’s room.
Hayley comes out of the room.
Liza gets up from her seat.
Liza: Hayley?
Hayley: I can’t stay, Liza. I’ll talk to you later.
Hayley hurries down the hallway. Liza looks after her.
Marian: Liza? What was that about?
Marian’s private investigator comes down the hallway.
P.I.: There you are. He’s here.
Marian: Yes, well, thanks for looking for my husband, sir, but I found him already.
P.I.: Your husband?
Marian: Yes, yes, my husband. Thank you very much.
Liza looks at Marian.
Marian (explaining): Good Samaritan.
Liza looks from Marian to the P.I. and back again.
Liza: Mother? What is going on here?
Marian: Liza. Darling. Promise me you won’t get upset.
Liza: That depends. What is this man doing here?
Marian: Well, I know I promised to stay out of the Jake thing. But it looks like I've solved all of your problems.
Liza: I don’t believe this. No, on second thought, I do believe this. What have you done?
Marian: It’s not what I’ve done. It’s what this man has done. He’s found Jake.
P.I.: And the baby.
Liza: The baby? Where?
P.I.: They’re both here. Right in the hospital. Right under our noses.
Marian: Oh, for heavens sake! Can you believe how brazen that man is? Right under our no--
Jake comes around the corner with Colby.
Marian: There he is! Get him! Grab the baby!
The P.I. runs to Jake and begins to struggle with him. They are both summarily joined by Marian.
Jake: Stop it! Stop it! What are you doing?

The nurse, Stuart and Adam hear the commotion coming from outside.
Adam: What’s that racket about?
Stuart: I dunno.
The nurse gets up and goes to the door.

Jake is struggling with Marian and the P.I.
Jake: Let go!
Marian: No, you let go!
P.I.: Yeah -- let go!
Liza: Stop it!
The nurse comes into the hallway.
Nurse: What is going on here? This is a hospital! There are people trying to get well! Dr. Martin!
The commotion stops.
Stuart comes outside.
Stuart: Hello?
Jake: I’m just returning my daughter to her mother. I don’t know what these two --
Jake gestures to Marian and the P.I.
Jake: -- are doing.
Stuart: Hi, Jake.
Jake: Liza, I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. I just wanted to get Colby out of the hospital when she was released. I’m really sorry.
Liza goes and takes Colby from Jake.
Marian: Oh, that’s rich! The man is full of excuses when the heat is on!
Adam comes out of his room.
Adam: What the devil is going on here?
Adam sees Liza holding Colby in her arms.
The hallway grows quiet.
