This was our first game of the season. And with the first game came all sort of interesting dilemmas. First, and foremost was a conflict four of our regular players had with a school program scheduled for 6:30. The original game time was 7:00. Coach Gonzalez got the league to delay the game. Of course the later starting time also posed a problem with the kids being up late during a school night. But they handled it very well.
Another thing going on that day was Coach Ruben Camacho and his wife, Shelly, were having a baby that same day. We lost a coach and a player for the game. But we gained a beautiful baby girl as a new supporter. Congratulations to Ruben and Shelly from all of us on the team.
When game time finally arrived, I don't know who was more nervous: the kids, the coaches, or the parents. Those poor kids were so nervous that a lot of them ended up going to the bathroom during the game. All in all we are so proud of all of them. They played well. And they had fun doing it. The game ended in a tie. After three innings, the final score was 10-10.
