Notes;

In 1603, Archibald, his son Archibald called "The Young Laird", Francis of Whithaugh "The Standard Bearer", and Hingle, and about 200 horsemen led a raid into England, thinking to keep them at war with Scotland and prevent a uniting of the Crowns. King James VI of Scotland, sent an army and subdued them. This was the last raid of the Armstrongs.

James VI unites the Crowns becoming King of England, also in 1603 favoring the Protestants, dealt harshly with the Armstrongs who were Catholics, caused them to loose much of their lands and holdings in the next twenty years.
