Writing has been a hobby of mine for about 20 years. I started when
I was in 6th grade, so really I guess it would be more like 18 years but I digress.
A friend of mine and I used to spend our days writing
"scripts" involving the boy of the week and made up characters and then after
school we would get together and read each others work. We'd change a few things here and
there, go through the JC Penney catalogue and pick out clothes for our characters and
generally have a good time.
During high school in the "boy trouble" years, I used to
write poems during class (instead of paying attention I might add) to get out all of the
"lovers lament" type feelings so that I could continue living. (Although don't
you know that most artists live a life of gloom and despair so that their work will be
great? Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickinson for example)
Then when I got a real computer to do my writing on...I blossomed
even more. I've got a 90,000 word manuscript that I saved to disk and refuse to look at
because I don't like it anymore. I know! To anyone who is a struggling writer, you think
??????? 90,000 + words and she quits?
That's what I thought too! But every time I get it out, it turns my
stomach. I started at one place and by the time I reached the end the beginning made no
sense. I think I will post a chapter here for grins. Let me know what you think, if anyone
actually reads it.
So anyway, now you know a bit of my history. On to the works!
