My Tribute Page

Before you continue please note, I have had lots of questions why I selected the dog I did and I must take the time to write the following:

Since I was a child I have spent time liking dogs, always wanted one of my own. At an early age 9, I decided I was interested in the Rottweiler Breed. Since that time, I have read, research, asked questions, studied and observed Rottweilers, there are over 120 or more different types of Rottweilers. Different lines of Germans and Different Lines of English Rottweiler. They are intelligent, naturally protective, loyal babies. You have to be a certain type of person to own a Rottweiler. Once you own one and treat them with the respect and love they deserve you will understand. They are very dominant and you must let them know you are their leader, and who is the boss, they will test you, trust me.

My Baby

Bones

Her mom is German and her dad is English

Born Jan 23, 1997

Weighs 120lbs and she is still growing

Since Bones has been around she has had she share of problems.

When she was 9 weeks old and was being hand picked up to be brought down to me, she got excited and jumped out of the breeders arms and fell down, landing on the ground, with all her brothers, Mom and Dad, her Dad stepped on her left paw. When I saw her, she was limping. I sat with her, I played with her and I talked to her. I fell in love with her. Normal people would say a puppy with a limp, no thanks, but I saw something in her.

I got her home and called the vet the very next morning and made an appointment. I had her checked for worms and gave her medicine Incas she did, got her needles, stool sample given, and got them to ex-rayed her leg. Now my vets first reaction to this puppy was "Why did you get a puppy with a limp", well after checking out my baby she realized why. The ex-rays showed no bones were broken, but the did wrap up her leg is pink and she wore that for 2 weeks. She looked cute.

The cast so to speak came off, she went to puppy classes, to learn how to socialize with other puppies, she thinks she is a people*s*

When she was 6 months old, her right third eyelid pooped, cherry eye one doctor says. Any ways I took her to the vet, they gave me drops for her eye, and the swollen eyelid went down. 3 weeks later it came back and I scheduled surgery and they cut her under her eye and pulled the overlapping skin in and stitched it. 3 weeks later the eye pooped again. Then a week after that her right eye also pooped. Now this was obstructing her vision, for example I rolled a ball to her and she would miss it with her paw when it got close to her.

I looked around for another vet. Found one and went for a consultation and decided to have surgery again on her eyes. This vet had to operate on both eyes, and went into the eye and cut off some excess skin due to the swelling, pulled down the rest and stitched it in a ziz-zag, cross stitch fashion. In the above picture you can see her after surgery. It took about 7 weeks for the stitches to dissolve and she is beautiful

She has gone through 2 heats so far, nope I have not gotten her fix as yet, as I do not know if I want her to have babies or not, I have asked the vet due to her eye problem if its heredity, he says maybe, I have talked to another breeder friend of mine and he says its not, that probably when Bones was a baby her mom or dad laid on her face or she got hit really hard by something. So we will have to wait and see, if anyone know about this please contact me and we can exchange information about this eye problem.

My dog only eats Iams large breed puppy food, until last week now she eats Adult Iams large breed food, she does not like it as much as the puppy food, but she will have to get use to it. Another important thing to remember is that people often assume that since you have a large breed dog feed it as much as you can so it will grow up big and lots of exercise....that only causes problems for your dog. My baby only went on short walks and due to the fast growth, and wanting to avoid hip displasure, did not let her go on runs, or long walks, or up stairs, or jump in or out of a car or truck, due to a breeders advise and reading. Over exercising your dog only makes their hips grow out of sorts and will end up having problems, like my one friends Rottweiler.

Monthly Dairy for Bones

Jan. '99

Bones broke her collar, she also decided that barbie was going to be hers and ate the dolls face.. my daughter is not happy.

Bones found my daughter hiding under a coffee table in my laundry room, after looking for her myself, I called Bones to find her.

Bones found her Kong! she missed that toy... I stick treats in there for her and she loves it.

Came home to find Bones had been in the garbage. . . not nice

Found out if she knows her treats are all gone, you have to talk to her twice sometimes.

This month Bones seems to be going into her third heat...She is still not fixed, she will be wearing shorts soon... hopefully I can get some pictures of her... I found that using the products they have on the market, my baby destroys.. I found taking a pair of track pants making them into shorts with slits on each side works way better than anything I have ever tried on her. She is comfortable and can still clean herself if needed.

Sitting watching tv, Bones makes herself comfortable on top of me....the girl is getting too heavy. But I still think she looks skinny. I realize that I do not have a dog..... I have a special creature who thinks its a person and I have come to terms that my Bones is just a toodler that cannot speak.

This snowing morning I went to clean my car off taking Bones outside with me, she went into the back yard to do her doodies.. After cleaning the car off, I headed to the back door, to find my daughter heading out, she said all locked up and here is your purse. So we got into the car and drove to the gas station .. I needed gas... at the pump I looked at my daughter and said to her, where is Bones? she said she did not know... I drove back home, pulled into my driveway and there she was standing with snow on her face looking at us. Her paw prints shows she never went passed my side enterance, this is great!.

March '99

Wicked girl knows how to ask to go outside and come back inside so she can get a treat! I find lately she will ask to go outside then climb up on my pinic table and either sit or lay down and look at me. If I call her, she just looks at me, I walk back inside, and come back out with a chewy treat(sausage and cheese) as soon as I open the back door Bones is standing there waiting to come back in, this seems to be a game to her.

This week my daughter is home for March Break. Bones and her are both crazy playing around, Bones is constantly at my daughters side. At night Bones sleeps at the side of her bed, trying to sneak her stuffies off her bed*S* When I call Bones she will come and lay down with me at the end of the night, but finds herself sleeping in the hallway between my daughters bedroom and mine.

Back to School and Bones is sad, cried all this morning and slept all day long, either at my feet or in front of my outside doors. When my daughter got home she was happy.

Bones is somewhat tired again today, she slept all day and was very loving.

Bones again slept all day and followed me around all day being very protective and loving. Later on this evening she was sitting in my kitchen after being on a walk, I was filling up her water dish, I noticed when she got up to drink there was a little bit of blood. SHE IS IN HEAT, so I got her purple shorts and slipped them on her, she looked at me and I looked at her and said you just leave them on, and she followed me to the living room and layed down at my feet. She kept them on.

Second week in heat and she is testy, or should I say strange. Her shorts had to be removed and Bones confined to my kitchen area of my house during the day, at night she got her shorts on and came to bed. This she does well*s* Her protective mood is strong as she growled at one of my friends when we were talking, well I raised my voice in disagreement of what my friend was saying and Bones growled at my friend. I told her to stop it, that everything was ok and I gave her a little pet up*s*.

I had an operation this week and been layed up in bed for most of the week, Bones has kept her distance but still she is near me, she talks to me in a low growl, which I love, and today she crawled up gently on my sectional and layed her head on my lap growling talking to me, she is so sweet my baby bones*s*
One of my friends showed up and Bones loves this person, anyways I am sorta sitting laying up on the sofa and my friend is standing at my coffee table, Bones is on the other side of the sectional, with me in the middle of her and my friend ( i am laying down sorta). Bones leaps over the back of the sectional landing on me. She knew she hurt me and went straight into the kitchen and layed down and looked at me, I took a few deep breaths, cried for a few mintues (pain) and visited with my company. An hour or so after my company left Bones came back and I forgave her for the accident.

Today the blood stopped, and on her walk she was leaving her mark everywhere ( ??) There is this Hydro Pole not far on our walk, and my girl stopped, sniffed and cocked her leg in the air to the pole and marked her spot.

Today she is lazing around, hoping to go on another walk and scare all the dogs around my area.

I love my girl and will be posting more pictures of her soon and they will look better than those I have posted up, sorry about that.

Thanks for your patience.

Here is her cousin Scooter, not related in any way of bloodlines, just close friends and she has know Bones since she was a baby.

Here is Scooter, she is 9 years old.

What a beautiful lady Scooter is.

Here is my tribute to a Beautiful Brave Rottweiler

In Honor of the Edmonton Police Services Dog Unit

A Memorial to Caesar

We lost a friend...

He was a friend, a partner, and a dedicated police service dog. Caesar died while doing what he'd been trained to do, helping the Edmonton Police Service. And more directly, helping his handler Cst. Randy Goss. Caesar was an Edmonton Police Service dog. He was six years old and a five year veteran of the EPS Dog Unit. He was the only Rottweiler on active duty for a police service in Canada. Caesar died June 23. To read more about Caesar
