Compuserve Cruise Bash!
We had a truly wonderful time on the Bash. It was the Inaugural Compuserve Cruise Forum Cruise Bash on the Carnival Sensation from September 20-27, 1997. Many people from the Bash are writing up reviews of the cruise so I will add their reviews to my page as they come out. It was organized by Sharon Jackson and the other Compuserve Cruise Forum Staff of Sharon Jackson, Alan Walker, Steve Pickering, Mike Blanche and Mark Schimmel. The picture below was taken in Michelangelo's Lounge to whose monetary intake we managed to contribute greatly! You could always find a group of us there at night dancing. Another hot spot was the Promenade near or at the Mirage Bar.
Here is the whole group of us on the first day we got on the ship. This is first chance that alot of us had to meet everyone face to face. About half the people came the night before and stayed at Hojo's and met. The rest of us met here at this party. Boy, did we have fun! Sean is standing on the left and I'm sitting in the middle. This was a truly fun, wonderful, crazy group of people. We had a very diverse crowd made up of several nationalities and all different kinds of people but all with the same goals - enjoying each other and having fun!!! It was especially fun trying to talk to Nathalie who speaks no English. Time to brush up the high school French! <grin> She and Rudy were voted Miss Congeniality.
Here is a picture of the people at our dinner table on the second formal night. It is Keith and Rita Smith from Evansville, IN (practically neighbors! <smile>), Sharon Jackson (who organized this) from Maryland in the blue dress, Mark Walker (Canadian) standing behind her. Sean and I standing next to Mark. Alan Walker from Canada is the one sitting that Sean is giving bunny ears to and Mardi, his wife is next to him. Standing next to Sean is Glenn, aka "Frankie" <smile> from Connecticut I believe. Not pictured is Steve Pickering, also, I think, from Connecticut.
We had 3 of the 9 acts in the Passenger Talent show come from the Bash and they were all at our table. They were Glenn singing "Summer Wind", Mardi singing ??? (I knew it until I thought about the next act who sang "Crazy" and now I can't remember. I'll get back to you), And Steve singing "Galliano Egypt Tour" or something like that... It was a rip-roaring drinking song in Latin by Brahms.
Notice Sean's braids! He had his hair cornrowed and braided in St. Maarten. It looked really good and he got a lot of nice comments from it. Of course, most people also thought he was a little crazy but since he is, that is OK. I got mine cornrowed across the top. I liked it quite a bit.
