The Forbidden Sacred Dance of Chaser Merriment

concept by Steve Miller

The seldom seen and forbidden Sacred Dance of Chaser Merriment is thought to be a spontaneous, ecstatic ritual performance executed only on the occasion of actual encounter with a photogenic tornado. Some have suggested that the Dance is also performed when observing negatively tilted systems or the issuance of a moderate risk, but there remains controversy on this point.

The Dance has seldom, if ever, been seen by those outside the chase community. Jane Goodall's lesser known sister, Janet, attempted to record and document the Dance during the late 70's theorizing it had origins in a combination of Native American ritual dances and Disco. To this end, she lived among the Wild Mountian Chasers of Colorado for a number of seasons until she mysteriously disappeared in 1983. Half whispered rumors suggest that she "went native" and now goes by the tag "Cyclone Sue". She is also thought to ride a Harley Davidson chase chopper.

Whatever the incentives for the Sacred Dance, the actual ritual movements are widely believed to be instinctual, and resemble a cross between the Jitterbug and the later stages of Mad Cow disease.

My thanks to Steve Miller for making the existence of this secret chaser art more widely known.
