ANURADHAPURA and DAMBULLA



Anuradhapura is Sri Lanka's most sacred town. For over 1000 years Sinhalese king ruled from this city. It first became a capital in 380 BC.

Now we're going to Dambulla- the richly painted cave temple about 2000 years old . It towers about 160 m above the surrounding lands, the summit is at 550 m. The caves have a mixture of religious and secular paintings. There are serveral reclining Buddha's,including the 15 m dying Buddha. The frescoes on the walls and ceilings date from the 15-16th century.
