Straight Out of Bangkok

October 1999 Edition

The Current Events...........

Hi!  All, welcome to my October edition! ! !

Soooooooo..... what's up, everybody?  I see that we all survived the 9/9/99... although I couldn't help but notice that there were quite a number of airplane accidents in lately, not to mention the natural catastrophes like hurricanes,  earthquakes, explosions....  maybe the world is gonna end before year 2000.  The answer to the future can be found toward the bottom of my page - check out my 'cool links' to The Horoscope, it's free.  Talking about Y2K, how many of you know that Thailand is the first country to see the first sun rise for 2000?!?!?  Interesting, isn't it?  Well, technically it's the Thai-Burmese border area.    It would be very nice if TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) would exploit the idea, but then again, they probably have no idea what I'm talking about.

Here is my short scoop of what's happened in the last month, travel-wise of course....

Yes, Singapore.  And those are the icon of Singapore - the Merlion.  From this short trip, I found out that there are two Merlions in Singapore, one on the Singapore bay, the other one (the right picture) is on the Sentosa island.  The story of Singapore began when a guy named Sir something Ruffles landed on the island, and he saw a peculiar animal of half fish half lion (must be jet lag or sea sick, hee hee hee), so he named the island Singapura - hence, came the name Singapore.   I was there for one day, flew in the night before, meeting the whole day, and flew back that night.   Here are some more pictures about Singaporean gastonomy......

Barbeque fish cake in pandan leaf, kind of like Tod Mud Pla

The most expensive dish - Monk Jump (SD 29.00), chinese goodies that take three days to prepare.  In Thailand, we called it Monk Jumps Over the Wall.  It's believed to have aphrodisiac effects.

Ok, so that's all about my Singapore trip.   Life goes on in a hectic pace.  But it will all be over on the 8th of October, when I'm off on my holidays to Europe  yeah!  My voyage begins!!!!  This trip will only last two weeks since it's all the time I have, but I really really really looking forward to it.    Will take off as soon as the farewell party to my boss is over.   Somehow, I ended up doing more that I should.  But the MC job shouldn't be too bad at least I get to be the most handsome guy at the party (as always, hee hee hee....).

First I will re-explore Amsterdam for about a week then wonder off to Germany with my brand new backpack from Kao San road.    It costs me Baht 1,600 but it's one of those that can turn into a nice big carry-on bag from a regular backpack and it should last me years unlike the cheaper ones I had in the past.

Well, hope you all like this month edition.   If you feel that it's a little bit overloaded with animated GIFs then it's deliberate.   I intended to put all my animated GIFs collection out.  Some of them were from friends, the rests are from the internet.   They sure do live up the page!     Keep checking back on my page, next edition will all be different, not too many animations but there will be pictures from my trip for sure.

have a Grrrrrrreat month, everyone
