SEA PRINCESS

WESTERN CARRIBBEAN

It all started January 1999, I hadn't been on a vacation in 5 yrs. While tooling with different ideas, someone joked about a cruise vacation. Doing some serious sole and financial searching it was decided, a cruise it would be.... and what it cruise it was.
This shot was taken from a water taxi in Nassau, Bahamas. We stayed docked here for the day. This was a somewhat unexpected stop, however it was a great day.
Boarding the Sea Princess was a breeze. We entered the terminal in Fort Lauderdale at approximately 1:20pm and we where on the ship about 20 minutes later. Our luggage was at our stateroom within 1 hour!! From what I here that is exceptional. The ship departed port about 10 minutes late, due to late passengers.
The night before we left our cruise agent called our hotel room and informed us that due to technical difficulties we would not be going to Princess Cays and would be going to Nassau instead. Nassau was our first stop and there were no shore excursion planned so you were on your own. We departed the ship and set out on foot. A few hundred yards down the end of the pier we came across a water taxi for $3.00 apiece to Paradise Island, we decided it would be fun. We found a casino and eventually found the beach. We stayed the day there and did some shopping, of course. I should mention the Sea Princess staff was very helpful with ideas, we just decided to wing it on our own.
Late that afternoon we returned to the ship. We immediately headed to the Horizon deck for some great food from the buffet. The food aboard the Sea Princess was nothing less than excellent, not to mention plentiful. The dinner seating and meal were even better. Our waiter and asst. waiter were great. Francesco and Mahale were tops in our book. From the main cuisine to the baked alaska all was excellent, every night.
