Early Childhood Playspace
Funschool.com- This is a place where kids can go to play educational games and get free educational software. It's for preschool through second grade.
NAEYC- This is the professional early childhood organization I belong to. NAEYC publishes a journal, Young Children, and it contains articles dealing with issues that are effecting our young children and also articles that can help teachers and parents be more effective.
Galileo- This is a computer program where teachers enter observations on children and the program lets the teachers know what to plan next for that individual child. It also has numberous record keeping abilities, both on staff and on the children. It is being piloted on 5,000 children in Ohio this year, but the Ohio Dept. of Education expects to have 1,000,000 children on the pilot next year. It is especially being used for Head Starts, child care businesses, preschools, and eventually up to the third grade. I will be a Galileo trainer next year after going to three trainings in Tucson, Arizona.
