What's New in Branson
Office Max and Staples both opened office supply stores in Branson during 2000. The Office Max is located adjacent to the Wal-Mart while Staples (See picture below) is just west of K-Mart. The IMAX Entertainment Complex unveiled the latest addition to their ever growing complex in June with the opening of their new food court. Featuring the offerings of Quizno's Subs, Breadeaux Pizza, and Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, the food court is already a huge hit with visitors and local residents. Tanglewood Treasures, which includes historical log cabins, antiques, collectibles, fine art, photography, crafts and more originals has opened at 4987 Fall Creek Road in Branson. Across from Fall Creek Bed and Breakfast, the business features handmade frames by Paul Schnabel, hand-scuplted-themed Santas by Teresa Simpson and original oils by Linda Ward. Live entertainment, complimentary tea, coffee, and water are also offered. (See picture below.) A restaurant inside the Starlite Diner is being merged with an expanded concession area. La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant has opened on Hwy 76 West in the former Cafe USA location. Casa Fuentes has launched a second location in the former Garcia's on West Highway 76 and another Shogun is open in the former St. Louis Bread Company building on Hwy 165. Still another Japanese food restaurant, Mr. Sushi, has opened on W Hwy 76 near the Branson Fire Station. Saint Louis Bread Company, part of the nation's fastest growing bakery-cafe-business came back to Branson June 5 with the company's newest location opening on Green Mountain Drive. Working with the Radisson Hotel in Branson, Mike and Shari Radford have remodeled the hotel restaurant and renamed it "Mike Radford's Veterans Cafe." The interior is decorated with a patriotic theme featuring memorabilia from WW I, WW II, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. The bar adjacent to the restaurant has also been remodeled with a patriotic/military theme and renamed "Mike Radford's R & R Bar," and will house other military memorabilia and hardware. The coffee/snack shop in the same area has changed its decor to feature all eras of military service from 1776 to the present, changing its name to "Mike Radford's Canteen." Grand opening for the project was held in late August. Lowe's, which already has two stores in Springfield, has built a new store in Hollister, just south of Branson. The home improvement store is located in the South Towne Shopping Center. The store opened in February 2001. The South Towne Center will also now houses a Kentucky Fried Chicken/ A& W restaurant as well as Tri-Lakes Interiors. The Hard Luck Diner in the Grand Village Shopping Center has expanded their seating capacity from 145 to 187. New tenants in the addition at Tanger Outlet Mall include Tommy Hilfiger Womens, Polo Jean Co., The Gap, and Disney. Other recent openings at Tanger include Black and Decker, The Children's Place and Zales. New stores at Factory Shoppes at Branson Meadows include Boot Country, Years Gone By Coffee Shop, Heritage Lace, and Sunbeam/Oster. Mountain Music Shop, Trading Post and Santa Surplus. An Amish Country Store has opened on Gretna Road near Factory Shoppes. Factory Merchants Mall has added the following stores: Country Clutter, Isotoner, Cosmetic Center Warehouse, Famous Brand Housewares, Buster Brown Kids Wear and Heritage Lace. Also, you can now buy your brushes at the Fuller Brush Factory outlet. A Red Lobster restaurant opened in 2000 on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway next to Golden Corral. (See picture below.)
