Gene is in his 4th season here with the Roughriders. He was drafted by Saskatchewan in the second round (23rd overall) of the 1995 CFL draft, and played 14 games as a rookie, and started 5 of them. Makowsky started all 18 regular season games in 1997 and 2 playoff games at right tackle, but moved to right gaurd for the Grey Cup game. He played 4 yrs for the Saskatchewan Huskies, starting from his freshman year onward. He was named to the Canadian Wesr all-star team in 1994 and was chosen lineman of the year in 1993. Gene Played guard for most of the season, but with the retirement of James Monroe; this year Gene will be playing center.
