A Mother's Prayer

In the quiet of the night, I watch you sleep.

As I tuck you in and savor the gentle sounds.

I glance through the window and whisper out loud.

God, have I been the Mother You wanted me to be.

Have I held my children up and taught them to see.

Have I shown them that love should always be shared.

Have I taught them compassion and reasons to care.

Have I explained the values by which You want us to live.

Have I taught them humility and reasons to give.

Have I shown them that life can't always be fair.

Have I taught them that You will always be there.

As I glance through the window You help me to see

That I am being the best Mother that I can possibly be.

 -Poem by Christine M. Newcomer

For you my love...

The very thought of you and me, Takes my breath away.

Longing to be by your side, And feel you close to me.

The very thought of you and me, Warms my aching pain.

Destiny is on our side, We were meant to be.

The very thought of you and me Separated by the miles,

Longing now to touch your soul, And gaze upon your smile.

The very thought of you and me, Lifts me to a higher plain.

Soaring gently on a breeze, Braced with wings of song.

Until that day that we can be, I'll send my love to you.

Across the miles upon a breeze, It is our destinyl

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round

Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down Don't dance so fast

Time is short The music won't last

Do you run through each day on the fly

When you ask "How are you?" Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores running through your head?

You'd better slow down Don't dance so fast

Time is short The music won't last

Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow

And in your haste, not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die

'Cause you never had time to call and say "Hi"?

You'd better slow down Don't dance so fast

Time is short The music won't last

When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away...

Life is not a race. Do take it slower

Hear the music Before the song is over.
