Ephesus / Efes


For anyone visiting Turkey, the ancient city of Ephesus (or "Efes" if you're Turkish)is certainly a place not to be missed. It was apparently built by the Romans and remains have been found dating back as far as the 14th and 15th century BC. Excavations began at Ephesus in 1869 and still continue. At present it is believed only 4-5% of this incredible city has been excavated. Anyone visiting Ephesus during the summer months should ensure they take a bottle of water with them - it can get very, very hot...
