GUATEMALA THE LAND OF BEAUTY
The City!!!
Wow! Talking about a market - The whole city is a shoppers dream come true

Yup! The whole city is a market. Believe it or not! One can buy from leather goods to tooth brushes anywhere in the city. Or if you want, you can have your name engraved in a tiny, winny little piece of rice. Perhaps you would like to have your picture taken in a professional photograph studio - well, that will cost you a mere $2.00 and they will even throw in a tie and a suit for good looks.

Guatemala City is called Guate (Gwah-the), Guatemala and la capital by the locals. For the visitor, it's the center from which to go out and see the archaeological sites spread around the country, the colonial city of Antigua, and the many Indian villages easily reached by one-day trips. Mercifully, there isn't much in the way of obligatory sights to see in the capital.

But there are good food and entertainment, excellent hotels, and markets and shops full of handicrafts. And of course, Guatemala City is the center of government, economy, and culture of the country, so you'll understand more of Guatemala by spending some time there.
