Album #1:

Alternative Pest Management in Vegetables
4 Country Exchange

These photos are from a workshop I was part of back in March, 98.  Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines participated.  The idea was to provide a chance for farmers from across the region who practise alternative agriculture - usually meaning no/very little pesticides or chemical fertilizers, mix their crops and many other methods that are not highly intensive monoculture cash cropping - to exchange ideas and observations and also a chance to ask question from various experts who were invited as resource persons in this two week programme.

We visited three different areas of Thailand - Central, Western and Northern regions.  Each region has different climatic and terrain features which pose different farming challenges.  They are also somewhat representative of the terrain of those farmers from different countries.  Thailand is actually well representative of what Southeast Asia has to offer in geology, climate, terrain, etc so was effective as a demonstration site for the foreign participants.

There are not many pics in this album.  It takes a helluvalot longer than I expected to set this up.  I need better software (am presently using Nestcape Composer) to make these pages.  I need to automate this process a little more.  This little effort in making a website is gobbling far far more time than I ever expected.

Anyway - I hope you enjoy these photos.  They are grainy because I have tried to make them as quick loading as possible.  I find there is nothing worse about the web than sitting staring at the damn progress bar of your browser seeing that there is still 78% of 700K left to download and the freaking remote server is sending at a whopping 208 bytes/sec .

If these pictures are horrifically slow to download please mail me and let me know.  Thanks.
