In todays Cyberworld, one of the major problems is compatibility. There are utilities for all occasions floating around the net just waiting for someone to download them. Some are very useful, while the others are just a waste of hard disk space, time and money. Sometimes the software you downloaded conflicts with your system, eventually leading to a system crash. In my opinion the best way avoid this is to install one utility at a time, and see its effect first before installing the next. If you don't encounter any problems, you may then continue on to the next. But if you notice that your system crashes more often, then uninstall it You are free to download the utilities I have installed on my PC. Try 'em out n see if they're compatible with your system. Also include on this page, is a quick refresher for those newbies out there. There are many more aspects of the Net than you already know. This might be a little help to start getting the most out of your PC. I have collected these files on my way around internet. Some of them have become part of my everyday life, so useful that I could not operate without them. All the files are 32 bit versions, and are intended for the Windows NT/95 platform.

The INTERNET What is the InterNet? The best way I could answer this I guess is by explaing to you the services that come with it. The thing people mostly associate with the Internet is the World Wide Web or Email. But that's just a fraction of it all. The internet consists of mainly six services:
Once in a while, I get to meet newbies who are totally new to this Cyberworld and have no clue about it's powers. It's sad because there is so many exiting things out there. Not to worry.... All you have to do is to download the file and read the help and documentation files that come with the programs. WWW is also know as the World Wide Web. That is what you're experiencing right now. It consists of hundreds of thousands of pages like this, spread on servers all around the world, all linked together like a gigantic web. FTP is also know as a File Transfer Protocol. It is a way to transfer files between computers on the internet. You can also access the files with your browser, but an FTP program gives you more control, and also lets you upload files. There is absolutely no limit to what you can find out there. All you've got to do is search for it. FTP addresses are often found on IRC channels. Email is the easy way to send your messages or any digital information to a specific electronic mailbox. I consider this the most important aspect since it saves me money communicating with my relatives who live abroad. It has so many powers, depending on which software you use. You can attach important documents, pictures, files etc.. IRC is also known as Internet Relay Chat. It is the most common way to get in contact with other people on the internet, other than ICQ. You can go to a channel of your interest and and look at what everyone are typing in online. The fun part is to type back and get response from other people there, but be careful. If the channel operators don't like what you are saying, they will kick you out or maybe even ban you! But don't worry, you can also start your own channel and say anything you want. USENET is a large net of information servers. If you are looking for any type of information, this is where you want to be! You can also find images, games and music here. It's like a large library that anyone can contribute to. Anyone can post information to the News Groups in a multitude of topics, but there are some rules on the layout of the messages. When you have Free Agent up and running, find a suitable server to connect to. Usually your ISP has one that you have access to. Telnet is the old way to communicate over the internet. This was before the web-browsers and all the fancy stuff. With Telnet you emulate a terminal connected directly to the server. It's a hard way to do things, but today there are still things you can only do over a Telnet session. Navigation Sites When starting to explore the net, it's very helpful to know where to start and where to get information. Here I have some links to places that will help you navigate through this jungle of information. Altavista FTP
