Park Street & District Residents Association
ABOUT THE PARK STREET AND DISTRICT RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION
The Park Street and District Residents Association is a non-political organisation which was formed in 1968 to represent the residents of Park Street and district in the negotiations over the M25 London Orbital motorway. A constitution was drawn up and the association became very successful before long.
In the 1980's the original constitution was replaced with a new one which can be seen on this site (in the WHO ARE WE section). This was done to allow the PSRA to adapt to represent Park Street residents in a wider range of matters.
Today, the majority of the village's residents enjoy membership of the PSRA, and for their annual subscription receive the quarterly newsletter (see the NEWSLETTER section on this site), they can ask for subjects to be brought up at committee meetings, and can join the committee if they wish. The PSRA organises regular events such as barbecues and quiz nights and sponsors local interests, competitions and charities.
The PSRA is very active in civic matters such as the monitoring of planning applications, roads, and the Abbey Flyer railway. It supports the election and work of up to four Parish Councillors, for example, the Association actively supported the Parish Councillors in the purchase of the land now known as Greenwood Park.
The Park Street and District Residents Association has grown into a well respected and influencial organisation who's membership grows along with the village it represents.
