Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies

Ing. Pavel Mertlik, CSc.

     A graduate of the Prague School of Economics' Faculty of National Economy, Mr.Mertlik worked on at the school until 1989 when he was promoted to the position of researcher at the CR Institute of Prognostication. Two years later, he was made senior lecturer of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague, where he is still a member of the Faculty. Since 1995 he has also served as a researcher of the Czech National Bank Institute of Economics and, since June 1998, as a researcher of the Prague School of Economics' Centre for the Czech Republic's Integration into the European Economy. Mr.Mertlik has been a member of the CSSD Social Democratic Party since 1995, and Chairman of its economic commission.
