Mt.Kinabalu
 Sabah is blessed
to host Mt. Kinabalu. That imposing mountain served as a channel
to see the best not only in the natural resources, the plant and animal
species but in human resources as well Take the group of young photo
journalists in their mid 20's based in Kuala Lampur who just successfully
completed their descent that day from the summit. During socials
at the Old Fellowship Hostel, they were gregariously narrating their experiences,
offering their trail food and wishing us the best for our forthcoming adventure
the next day.
At the Gunting Lagadan (about 3,500 meters ASL), we met a delegation
of Malaysian family men gearing us up during snacks their plan for the
assault the next day. They shared with us the secret to overcome
the fight with altitude sickness.
Our quiet and patient guides saw us through completion without any complaint
at all at the point of even holding the hands of our female climber near
the granite top just to ensure her safety.
This we experienced in Kota Kinabalu amidst a setting of international
climbers- the contingents of veteran Koreans, senior Japanese whose oldest
is a 79 year old woman, upwardly mobile Europeans and Americans.
Kinabalu saw the flesh in us-struggling to appreciate what's in store
at our neighboring country: the magnificence at 4,101 meters above sea
level. We might really be special to deserve all this.
Happy Easter to all!
