Mt. Lobo in 2003

PALMC recently held its inaugural climb for the year 2003 at Mt. Lobo in Lobo, Batangas. The affair was attended by over 50 participants, inclusive of guests, members, initiates, and our host---the Batangas Backpackers.
Mt. Lobo was a moderately easy hike with plenty of rest in between treks. The ascent was gradual and was only steep near the summit. The view from the top gives you a glimpse of Verde Island and Mindoro.
The campsite provided ample space for numerous tents but was quite windy. The breeze was much stronger compared to that of Tarak in Bataan. In fact, one tent broke down when one of its poles snapped; luckily, there were extra tents available as some decided to share tent to overcome the frosty temperature brought about by the strong winds.
Despite the strong winds and the sporadic burst of rain showers, a lot of brave souls persisted in holding the ‘socials’ outside the comfort of their respective tents.
The initiation rites pushed through with the much-treasured assistance though of the requisite firewater, which was abundant in supply.
While a few PALMCers complained about the difficulties they endured on the way up, the descent was much entertaining and relaxing as the entire group took a different going down.
The trail going down afforded the group of a different vista of Mt. Lobo and its surrounding peaks and valleys amid perfect weather conditions.
The trek going down was quite longer vis-à-vis that of going up. At any rate, we were told in advance that we would all be going to the beach thereafter, where we could cool down our aching joints and muscles.
The photos below could probably sum up the reaction of PALMCers to the just concluded climb.
