The closest I came to being in one was Hurricane Allen. We only went about 45 miles inland and when we came back, I remember the choas to our area. I was only in the 8th grade at the time and never been through anything like that. Where we went we stil
had the winds, rain and storms just not as bad as the areas closer to the coast.

Great site!! Alot of very useful information. Well organized. A couple of minor things. First off you might want to reduce your links. There's no use clogging up a great website with alot of mediocore links. Also you may want to consider give better
ontrast between your background and your type. The background and the light green/yellow type is very easy to read. The problem is the darker green that is used sometimes (i.e. "what's happening section) within your page. This matches the background to
much and is difficult to read and causes eye strain. Just some freindly advise. Otherwise a great page keep up the good work!!

Regarding the above two typhoons. The first one i.e. T.Hope was closest to Hong Kong on 2Aug1979. Only 10KM NNW of Hong Kong Observatory.
The second one i.e. T.Ellen was closest to Hong Kong on 9Sep1983. About 45KM SW of Hong Kong Observatory.

th of Hurricane Gloria in '85. 4 miles due south of West Islip on Fire Island a 115 mph wind gust was recorded at the coast Gaurd station. I wish I had instrumentation then but now I do for the next hurricane to strike Long Island. (Bob was a miss to the
ar east L:)). As the video danger's edge says "The next time Long Island maybe not be so lucky".
